Texas A&M: Gender Ideology Should Be in Children's Literature

Ed Andrieski

Texas A&M University is facing some well-deserved scrutiny after a student whistleblower was kicked out of a class for questioning the legality of the course's content. According to the school's College of Education website, fourth year students working toward a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences are required to take Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Youth Development Organizations. This class is designed for "[u]nderstanding of youth diversity (e.g., ability and disability, socio-economic background, race, ethnicity, and cultural background, beliefs and religion, and gender characteristics); implementation of inclusive and equitable programming; development of cultural competencies."

This undergraduate degree opens doors for careers in fields clamoring for more woke propaganda pushers, such as social workers, early childhood education administrators, youth and family therapists, and healthcare administrators. In those fields, of course it is important to know how people develop over time, but thanks to President Trump, ideologues pushing gender and sexuality extremism are no longer welcome in universities that accept federal tax dollars. It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female.  These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.
Executive Order: Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government

Texas A&M University's most recent annual budget is listed at $2.6 billion, with 18% of that coming from federal appropriations. I'd say Aggie administration had better get their act together if they want to hang on to that $1.5 million. It's worth noting that the finance reports indicate a 26% decline in federal funding under Trump 47; under President Biden in 2021, federal appropriations for Texas A&M reached $8.6 million.

As if it were not enough to take it on the chin from Washington, Texas Governor Greg Abbott advocated in his 2025 State of the State Address for a zero-tolerance policy for gender ideology.

It's pretty clear: both federal and state codes will not tolerate the LGBTQIAHGTVLMNOP agenda. Twenty-seven percent of Texas A&M's budget is from state appropriations, but are they paying attention? No.

In another video from the whistleblower, a professor tells a student she is "very free to leave, and now is the time to do that; please do not come back" after the young woman voiced concerns about the course content conflicting with her religious beliefs. From the looks of the video, the student stayed in her seat and had a 10-second stare-down with the professor before instruction resumed. In an exasperated voice, the professor is heard asking what other questions she can answer regarding "sex-gender system or non-binary identities."

Retired Air Force General Mark Welsh is the president of the university. When he met with the whistleblower, she recorded the audio of the conversation. Welsh confirmed Texas A&M has two LGBTQ+ courses offered to undergraduates who will serve a population they "don't get to choose" and "want to understand the issues affecting them." He went on to say that there were only 30-something students enrolled in those courses (of whom the whistleblower is one), as if that should be reason enough to dismiss the concern. When Welsh asked if she wanted the offending professor to be fired and she said yes, he retorted: "Well, that's not happening."

Texas State Representative Brian Harrison has the presentation slides up on his X feed, for those interested in taking a deeper dive.

For years we have endured drag shows in libraries with men cosplaying as women reading stories to young children. Too many children have been chemically castrated in this country, irreparably scarred and traumatized because adults have both led them astray and failed to defend them. In the name of equality and inclusion, the progressive left has demanded we shut up and take our diversity medicine lest we cause kids to kill themselves. We watched the most powerful political mobs go after Donald Trump, taking him to court and running his name through the mud, leaving us to wonder how any normal person could stand against the machine.

Thanks to President Trump's bold initiatives, he has placed a hedge of protection around us and empowered us to stand up for what we know to be right, true, and just. George Floyd got golden caskets and violent demonstrations in major cities, but a Ukrainian refugee in Charlotte, North Carolina, was murdered by a fourteen-time offender and got zero mainstream media coverage. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth fired a Navy commander for her efforts to make gender transitions normal. This isn't some MAGA cult--it's regular people sick and tired of being made to live in and pay for someone else's bizarro world.

It is time for us to proudly and confidently stand for sanity. Children's literature should not be a place to talk about sex. Books that help children traverse the confusing and overwhelming truths of puberty should be rooted in science, not fantasy; there are X chromosomes and y chromosomes. When I was in high school in the late '90s and early '00s, my high school with thousands of kids did not have a single known cross-dressing or gender fluid student; what about yours?

We send our kids off to school to learn what they need to be successful adults, but we've blindly trusted the system for too long. These videos show the indoctrination and preparation of the indoctrinators. Governor Abbott needs to hit Texas universities where it hurts: in the purse. Governor Brian Kemp, chair of the Republican Governors Association, needs to lead an initiative within his organization to do the same. With the majority of states currently under Republican executive leadership, there should be no excuse for sending taxpayer dollars to any university feeding the psychotic gender army.

We have been successful in our ongoing fights against Planned Parenthood, wokeness in the military, and keeping men out of women's sports--it's time to take our children back because they belong to us, not they/them.
