Aldous Huxley’s classic dystopian novel Brave New World envisions a deeply disturbing one-world totalitarian state in which hypersexuality and loveless promiscuity are considered normal — even for children. Twenty-six years after its 1932 publication, Huxley wrote Brave New World Revisited to marvel at how many of his book’s outlandish futurist predictions had already come true — things like in vitro fertilization and psychopharmacology.

But if Huxley were alive today, he’d have to write Brave New World Re-Revisited to account for the new elementary school curriculum in Basel, Switzerland. Because what Huxley predicted would happen by 2540 A.D. has already come true in 2011 — 529 years ahead of schedule.

To prepare yourself for the Basel kindergarten lessons, first read this excerpt from Chapter 3 of Brave New World:

Outside, in the garden, it was playtime. Naked in the warm June sunshine, six or seven hundred little boys and girls were running with shrill yells over the lawns, or playing ball games, or squatting silently in twos and threes among the flowering shrubs.

In a little grassy bay between tall clumps of Mediterranean heather, two children, a little boy of about seven and a little girl who might have been a year older, were playing, very gravely and with all the focussed attention of scientists intent on a labour of discovery, a rudimentary sexual game.

“Charming, charming!” the D.H.C. repeated sentimentally.

“Charming,” the boys politely agreed. But their smile was rather patronizing. They had put aside similar childish amusements too recently to be able to watch them now without a touch of contempt. Charming? but it was just a pair of kids fooling about; that was all. Just kids.

“I always think,” the Director was continuing in the same rather maudlin tone, when he was interrupted by a loud boo-hooing.

From a neighbouring shrubbery emerged a nurse, leading by the hand a small boy, who howled as he went. An anxious-looking little girl trotted at her heels.

“What’s the matter?” asked the Director.

The nurse shrugged her shoulders. “Nothing much,” she answered. “It’s just that this little boy seems rather reluctant to join in the ordinary erotic play. I’d noticed it once or twice before. And now again today. He started yelling just now …”

“Honestly,” put in the anxious-looking little girl, “I didn’t mean to hurt him or anything. Honestly.”

“Of course you didn’t, dear,” said the nurse reassuringly. “And so,” she went on, turning back to the Director, “I’m taking him in to see the Assistant Superintendent of Psychology. Just to see if anything’s at all abnormal.”

“Quite right,” said the Director. “Take him in. You stay here, little girl,” he added, as the nurse moved away with her still howling charge. “What’s your name?”

“Polly Trotsky.”

“And a very good name too,” said the Director. “Run away now and see if you can find some other little boy to play with.”

The child scampered off into the bushes and was lost to sight.

“Exquisite little creature!” said the Director, looking after her. Then, turning to his students, “What I’m going to tell you now,” he said, “may sound incredible. But then, when you’re not accustomed to history, most facts about the past do sound incredible.”

He let out the amazing truth. For a very long period before the time of Our Ford, and even for some generations afterwards, erotic play between children had been regarded as abnormal (there was a roar of laughter); and not only abnormal, actually immoral (no!): and had therefore been rigorously suppressed.

A look of astonished incredulity appeared on the faces of his listeners. Poor little kids not allowed to amuse themselves? They could not believe it.

“Even adolescents,” the D.H.C. was saying, “even adolescents like yourselves …”

“Not possible!”

“Barring a little surreptitious auto-erotism and homosexuality—absolutely nothing.”

“Nothing?”

“In most cases, till they were over twenty years old.”

“Twenty years old?” echoed the students in a chorus of loud disbelief.

“Twenty,” the Director repeated. “I told you that you’d find it incredible.”

“But what happened?” they asked. “What were the results?”

“The results were terrible.”

Science fiction you say? Well, maybe it was science fiction in 1932, but in 2011 it’s reality:

‘Sex box’ to get new name as parents revolt

Officials in Basel have agreed to rename the “sex box” after receiving some 3,000 letters of protest from parents angered by the controversial trove of wooden penises and fabric vaginas set to be used in a new sex education programme for playschool and primary school kids.

Christoph Eymann, Basel education minister and member of the liberal democrat party (LDP), responded to parent’s protests in an interview with SonntagsBlick.

It was no doubt stupid to call it a ’sex box’ – we will change that. But we will stick to our goal: to get across to children that sexuality is something natural. Without forcing anything upon them or taking anything away from their parents,“ he said.

Many parents say they do not understand why sex education needs to be taught to children as young as four.

“There are usually two reasons why sexuality becomes a topic in kindergarten: either the teacher is pregnant or one of the children will soon get a new sister or brother. In such cases, it is correct that the teacher can respond”, Eymann told SonntagsBlick.

Eymann said he understood that one line in the programme, “touching can be enjoyed heartily”, could be misconstrued, but insisted: “It is not about ‘touch me, feel me’. We want to tell the children that there is contact that they may find pleasurable, but some that they should say ’no’ to. Kids can unfortunately can become victims of sexual violence already at playschool age.“

Eymann said he would prefer if sex education was taught to children at home but argued that education officials needed to respond to the realities of today.

We currently live in an oversexualised society. There is uncontrolled distribution of pornographic material that can reach young children. Some primary school children know the TV schedule until 2am. We would like to offer these children firm support, which is often not available in the family. The box is only an aid. I trust the teachers to approach the material with care.”

Despite this, Eymann said he takes critics’ arguments seriously, and has ordered the contents of the box to be examined after finding the cover of previous teaching material tasteless.

Some parents have called for their children to be exempted from sex education. Eymann says he is strictly against exemptions, although he is aware this will not make him many friends:

“Primary school may be the only big audience that our society has. The shared values that it teaches are very important. I would definitely like to keep this. The explanatory lesson can be portrayed in a way that doesn’t offend“, he said.

Critics of public school sex education have been warning of this for decades: Once you start down the slippery slope of teaching kids about the mechanics of sex, it will invariably (in some school districts at least) eventually lead to advocacy for sex. Combine that with the relentless drive to introduce sex ed at lower and lower grades, and you end up with what’s happening in Switzerland: Telling four-year-olds how pleasurable sex is and leading them in classroom activities that are tantamount to public masturbation:

‘Sex box’ for Swiss kindergarteners has genitalia toys: will teach sexuality is pleasurable

Kindergarten children in Basel, Switzerland will be presented this year with fabric models of human genitalia in a “sex box” to teach them that “contacting body parts can be pleasurable.”

The kit for teachers to give sex-education lessons to primary school children uses models and recommends having children massage each other or to rub themselves with warm sand bags, accompanied by soft music….

I can no longer deny what I’ve long merely suspected: That many “progressive” educators use mandatory public school sex education specifically for the purpose of indoctrinating entire generations of children into being promiscuous as early as possible. Why? To cause the breakdown of the nuclear family, to pave the road for a Brave New World.

Yesterday, it only happened in fiction. Today, it happens in Switzerland. Tomorrow — coming to a school near you.

UPDATE: I didn’t know until after writing this article that just a few days ago President Obama visited a Martha’s Vineyard bookshop while on vacation and was seen buying a copy of — you guessed it — Brave New World.

One can only hope that he interprets the book as a warning — and not as an instruction manual.

Disturbing to say the least…sexualizing children, especially young children, indicates to me a society in its death throes – thriving economy or not.

    • Adina Kutnicki, Israel

This article is so disturbing, that even with missiles flying onto our cities, and having more than enough to worry about, this kiddie porn report knocked me for a loop.

A few thoughts-first, in order to create social chaos one has to create the TOTAL breakdown of the nuclear family. One way to do this is through rampant hyper sexuality, taught to youngsters in a ‘secure’ school area.Nothing is off limits, nothing off the table.

Secondly, these machinations are a treasure trove for kiddie porn addicts, many of these addicts rule the public schools today.

Exhibit Number One- Obama’s appointment of Kevin Jennings. By the way, many of these so called leaders are sexually confused adults.Think Obama…..a bisexual for sure.

Connect the porn dots…..the nonsense that the kiddies need this sexual ‘education’ to stop bullying is like saying a father has to rape his daughter in order to initiate her into the marital act.

Samer perverted thinking. The west is going down the road to Sodom & Gemmorah.

This article is not real. Everything links back to one source, a tabloid rag. Please do some research before everyone goes crazy.

There are other sites that are carrying this story, including this one from Switzerland, in English:http://www.thelocal.ch/222/20110523/, another Swiss-based site, also in English, here: http://www.englishforum.ch/swiss-news-via-local/122359-sex-box-get-new-name-parents-revolt.html.

I don’t need further convincing of the veracity of this story.

Your second link is a message board post that links to your first link, which is quoting the sensationalized Blick article, but okay. Zombie has listed some much better links below, which I think would have made a much better basis for this story, but may not have attracted as much attention.

It is my opinion that ,as usual, the position of ya’lls perspective, is not the content of whats going on as much as your disdain that it is being exposed. It’s not a problem to you , such as it is, the problem, to be redundant, is what “you people” are doing is being found out, and that is the real problem, exposure of the contents of your souls as children are exposed to whats inside of you.

Are you sure the article itself is not satire, in the same vein as ‘Brave New World’? All I can find about Blick is that it is a tabloid, and frequently relies on eroticism and sensationalism to sell papers.

I’ll simply repeat what I said to liberal_mom:

C’mon, is it so hard? Just Google various key search terms and you can find hundreds of articles (mostly in German), and from all sorts of mainstream sources.

        Here, I’ll get you started:

        basel “sex-koffer” amorix – 930 results

Here’s the site of one of the parent groups opposing it:

        Obligatorische Sexualerziehung ab dem Kindergarten

It’s easy to find thousands of sites about this issue.

        • liberal_mom

Oops, that was still me! Not trying to pretend to be too people, sorry about that.

I have been checking out the google hits, and everything about the “sex box” still seem to refer to the original Blick article. I’ll keep checking though. The way I see it (so far), yes, the Swiss are trying to introduce some kind of early sex education which is too extreme for many parents, but I really think the “sex box” with the plush toys pictured in your post are pure sensationalism.

It is a fact that small children are curious about their bodies (believe me, I know, I have a five year old boy and a two year old boy). They do touch themselves. They are curious about the differences between themselves and the opposite sex. I have no problem with this being written about in a scientific way. With that being said, if I caught my son “playing doctor” with the girl next door (or boy for that matter), would I encourage that? Hell no! I would certainly have a conversation with him about appropriate vs. inappropriate touch. Do I believe this should be part of the kindergarten curriculum? No way! At the same time, it is a sad fact that there are many children out there who don’t have appropriate parental interaction/supervision/education and I am not going to condemn the educational system for attempting to fill that gap. It is a touchy subject, to be sure. However, I do not appreciate the many statements I have read here that paint all liberals with the same broad brush. Thank you for allowing me to state my piece.

          • Joe

            liberal_mom,

You’re not a true ‘liberal’ if you aren’t covered in that paint. Your last comment sounded more ‘conservative’ than liberal.

          • Doche fi nente

You are out of your mind liberal mom! How do you think parents approached this 100 years, 50 years ago? That’s right, most parents didn’t and people turned out just fine. Way to much emphasis is placed on sex today, “does he enjoy it” does she enjoy it” what can we do to make it better” “Can’t we just think about and engage in sex all day.” I am sick of it. Sex is not our main purpose on this planet and it sends a horrifying message to people who are physically incapable of having sex, such as “there is no reason to live.” Boo-hoo for the kids that don’t get their birds and bees talk. And we certainly don’t need to talk about in schools and with 5 and 6 year olds.

          • Swissman

liberal_mom, believe it, we really are fighting against this sex box here in Switzerland. It is true, even the picture of the fabric genitals. We have some misleaded pediatric psychologists here in our government, driving this perversion further and further. But it has finally become a nation wide political issue. Swiss society has become really furious now about this topic. It may take some time until Swiss people get awakened, that’s true, but I’m confident now that we will stop this pervert aberration and keep our primary school free of pedophilic sex toys.
            Best, Swissman.

Interesting that Mr Zombie, who has made a habit of presenting clearly biased coverage of the Occupy camps has not managed to find the gumption needed to photograph any of the clashes with police, nor the obscene aftermath of what really happens to men and women living in the area when chemical agents are deployed in the streets of America.

Just an observation of the level of dedication that the individual has to journalistic coverage. Seems to be more a case of presenting a specific image with overt moralistic overtones.

Like Glen Beck only with a much smaller budget.

      • Zombie

Why don’t you yourself stand out on the streets on Oakland to 3 a.m. every night, night after night, dodging thrown bottles and rocks coming from one direction and tear gar canisters coming from the other direction, waiting to be “lucky” enough to be there at the moment violence breaks out before talking to me about dedication to journalism. I can’t be everywhere at once. I have a family to take care of a job, a life, a million problems and responsibilities, and blogging is at best a part time hobby. I have no “duty” to cover every moment of what happens on Earth, just to satisfy critics. I cover what I can, what I find interesting. If you don’t like it, don’t don’t look at it. I don’t look at the kind of obviously ridiculous Web sites you must frequent, but I don’t sit here complaining that they don’t please me.

Having a small budget is now a valid basis for criticism?

The reasonable tone of Education Minister Eymann has the hair on the back of my neck standing up.

    • Zombie

[I'm putting this update in a comment, and not in the post itself, because of the extreme NSFW images in the second link]:

If just his “reasonable tone” makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, check out these two additional links:

      Video showing a Swiss educator matter-of-factly rummaging through the Sex Box contents;

***NSFW***Toy instructional genitals are the least of Switzerland’s worries; the book “Lisa and Jan” has been part of the six-year-olds – nine-year-olds’ sex ed curiculum for several years already, according to this article, which has sample images from the book ***NSFW***

Think about it: I have to put a “***NSFW***” warning on images already being shown to six-year-olds. The world is a sick place.

Not sure if it is also included in the Sex Box — other books are depicted in the video.

Seriously, the sidebar images in that second link can’t be unseen: Take the warning seriously!

      • Dianna

My jaw is still hanging open.

A “how to” manual for six year olds?

This isn’t even “good touch/bad touch”, which I found immensely embarrassing and disturbing as a little kid.

        • Zombie

One site refers to “Lisa & Jan” as an El Dorado for Pedophiles.

And remember, the article accompanying the images says “Lisa & Jan” has already been a Swiss state-approved sex ed book for six-year-olds since at least 2006 (“ab fünf Jahren” = “for five years.”)

That is the future our Euro-loving American liberals wants for us.

          • Ursula

‘ab fuenf Jahren’ means ‘from age five and up’, not that this has been around for five years.

          • Zombie

Ah, OK, thanks for the clarification (I don’t know German) — but that’s worse, actually. Five-year-olds reading that book? Did you see the illustrations? Just owning the book seems like a jailable offense, but in Switzerland the state-sponsored schools give it to children to read.

If you aren’t speechless, you aren’t paying attention.

I understand some German. I followed the NSFW link above and read the comments on the article. Most people were shocked at the young age. Many were resigned to the fact that this education is appropriate at a later age. Some wanted the choice to be left up to the parents. One was fine with the presentation to second and third graders but not four year olds. The best post was by a man who said that if it was mandatory for everyone then it was also mandatory for muslims. A reply to him said that swimming lessons are mandatory already but muslims are exempt from those. All in all, 16 comments were made by 15 people. For the record, I’m going to do whatever is necessary to home school my kids.

    Precisely.

It’s not about the kids, and not about the future. Not ultimately. It’s about “progressives” wanting to further their own lifestyle/s here-and-now.

Perhaps Swiss children are ahead of us here in the UK, but I can’t think of a single pre-school child here who has the least interest in sex.

This is how academia views children and sex. 4-year-olds are having orgasms, masturbating, simulating intercourse, etc. etc. etc. And so, we as the adults must help them satisfy their curiosity!

(This is all for real — click the link if you don’t believe me.) This more you look for this kind of research underpinning the Sex Box, the more you find. Completely mind-boggling in the extreme.

Needless to say, as I pointed out in the post itself, all of this “research” is generated with a political agenda in mind — to destroy the monogamous male-female bond, and by extension the nuclear family. Goal = social disintegration, to usher in a communist revolution.

“Gramsci, you magnificent bastard — I read your book!”

      • AlexaL

Blimey! Piaget was never explained like that when I studied psychology!

Don’t these plonkers ever ask themselves how they managed to get through their own childhoods without so much as a hint of sex boxes introduced at primary level?

The one thing they fail to mention (or perhaps they have and I’ve missed it) is differing emotional attitudes to sex. Or hormonal requirements. Perhaps they want to take a stab at adrogynising as well as sexualising children.

I’d also be willing to bet that their ‘theory’ is simply a pet view with absolutely nothing of substance to back it up. Thomas Sowell’s book title pretty much explains thus type of ‘theory’: “Visions of the Anointed: Self-congratulation as a basis for social policy”

      • AlexaL

Gork – I can’t answer your first question but knowing whether this approach will have a positive or negative affect is, in my view, not something that can be known for years.

It’s 4am here in the UK and I’m tired so this is not a definitve answer, but I would imagine you would need a control group to allow for comparison. Then you would have to wait for the current(and probably subsequent) generation to grow to maturity in order to see whether or not such education makes any significant differences in terms of sexual life, health, happiness and other related factors (depends on your original hypothesis) Quite how one could a)account for variables that might affect the result and b)find an accurate method of measurement is beyond me.

Society progresses and you can’t always wait for generations to pass before you can check that a given theory is 100% correct and therefore sound and able to be introduced, but I think this particular *progressive* way we have of treating young ones as if they have experienced adult minds and emotions is getting beyond the pale.

I’ve used the word ‘theory’ but I doubt there’s any theory behind this because, as you rightly ask, what dire conditions have prompted the need to provide sex education to 4yr olds? No, this seems like the view of a handful of so-called, self-appointed experts.

        • Goldi

Nonsense! You don’t need to do any more studies. Have you ever been around children who have been sexualized by their parents? Ask foster parents about that. It is not a pretty thing. If you don’t think this will lead to all kinds of anti social behavior your dreaming. What in the h@11 are these idiots thinking? All I can think of that these people are really perverts living out their fantasies.
I would home school so fast, but will they let you there?

This is copied from an article about the subject on theblaze:

What’s more, Basel education minister Christoph Eymann, from the liberal democrat party, opposed parents’ requests to exempt their children from the lessons, saying the government uses schools in order to have unrestricted access to children.

Man if that doesn’t scare a parent! Think obama’s appointments for the dept of education.

      • MIA

Bingo. One thing you should look at in that context is the role of psychiatry in most totalitarian societies in world history. “Authoritarian” psychiatry came into being worldwide after the rise of Hitler, and psychiatry has been the right hand of most Communist dictatorships. There is a reason for that, and it hasn’t been really looked at too carefully by most people. In fact, I read somewhere that modern psychiatry has never really dealt with the fact that a certain amount of their ideas come from never-punished Holocaust originator Dr. Ernst Rudin. I saw a traveling exhibit on Nazi Medicine a number of years back that left me really shocked at how the psychiatrists associated with the Nazis got a total pass.

    • sinz54

      Really???

You never heard of “playing doctor”?

Many young children, left unsupervised, will touch their own genitals or even other children’s genitals. And they’ll notice it gives them a pleasant or soothing sensation. There’s no reason to be concerned about that, they’re just learning about their bodies.

      http://life.familyeducation.com/sexuality/toddler/53839.html

      and also
      http://tinyurl.com/3l4h9mn

Parents need to explain to the kids about a VERY important concept: Deferred gratification. The fact that it feels good doesn’t mean the child should do it. The child should NEVER touch another child’s genitals, even if it feels good.

      • Iluvtea

Surely you jest! I think it would be a lot easier to just keep an eye on the kids, rather than teach them how to do something and then say, “No, you musn’t do that until you’re grown.”

I’m really trying to keep my temper because I want to go to Basel Switzerland and pound that dingbat over the head with a hammer and then use what’s left of it to pound the teachers who would teach this stuff instead of putting up a stink about it.

I have 2 little grandchildren who will be going to school in a couple of years and at the first hint of this type of sex education, the school will have a mad mouthy grandmother on their hands. I don’t believe in going quietly into that good night. I believe in either winning or going down fighting!!!-

Speaking of Euro-leftists and infant sexuality and pedophilia:

Daniel Cohn-Bendit is currently the leader of the Green Party movement in Europe. He is hugely influential, highly respected.

He was instrumental in starting the 1968 Paris riots and spent decades marinating in extreme leftist Marxist theory. He’s sort of a legend in Europe as the ultimate pure leftist — his political credentials are beyond reproach (in European terms).

    So, what’s the problem?

According to his bio, “Cohn-Bendit worked in the Karl-Marx-Buchhandlung bookshop and ran a kindergarten. In his 1975 book Le Grand Bazar, he described himself as engaging in sexual activities with very young children at the kindergarten.

More details can be found here:

“Daniel Cohn-Bendit, 66-GREEN Member of the European Parliament, in describing his autobiography, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, the top candidate of the Greens in the European elections, as he exercised in his time as a kindergarten child sex: “My flirtation with the children soon took on erotic moves an .. Sometimes it happened that the little kids I have unbuttoned his pants and started to fondle me. If the kids insisted I stroked it too. ”

In 2001 he tried to backpedal, and said “I admit that what I wrote is unacceptable nowadays” and sort of half-claimed he kinda exaggerated. Of course, he only added the “exaggerated” part of the statement because of the “what I wrote is unacceptable nowadays” part.

Think about it. The leading leftist politician in Europe is a self-admitted child molester. And nobody holds it against him!

    • Josh

the news in this for me is that it may NO LONGER be (fully) acceptable in France, back circa the 1970s I heard stories that made it sound like their standards were, well, I don’t really know but apparently involved adults and pre-pubescent children and apparently neither shame nor unlawfulness.

and to this day (or at least as of about five years ago), I believe France is indifferent towards extraditing suspects accused by US courts of some sexual crimes involving age of consent.

as for the sex box – I dunno, seems excessive, but the society and kids (or is it just girls?) are maturing physically so much earlier now, otoh it’s clear that a certain sort of pervert is drawn into these subjects to capture the chance to abuse a million children at once … but I guess I don’t know what the right answer is, except the old answer of keeping most of it out of the schools entirely, if Swiss parents want to buy sex box toys for their children at home, well, …

… I mean even their cheese … oh nevermind.

    • Note the particular cowardice of this ‘hero of the Left’: he employs the typical molester’s tack of blaming the little children for the sexual contact that took place. “The children themselves asked for it” or “begged for it.” Yes, and who was the adult, who knew all the moral, emotional, physical ramifications of this, and was expected to be a guardian and protector of the children?

I wonder if he would consign a question such as, how and where and in what amounts he should spend his money, to the decision-making of little children. Yes, you may dispose of my penis, but no, you may not dispose of my income?–to whose benefit is his profligacy with his genitalia (as if I need to ask)? And yet these people will drag in some ‘liberationist’ claptrap, as if grooming the children to be sexual partners is good for the children themselves.

And when the progs act like the only choices are total ignorance that leaves teens vulnerable, versus explicitness that promotes promiscuity (and leaves teens and pre-teens vulnerable) — they are full of it.

At the right age you start the school can teaching kids about it from the perspective of reproductive biology and pregnancy in science clas, and when they’re a bit older you might talk about the failings of various forms of birth control. You can do that just fine without jumping in to the joys of anal sex and f*****g how-tos.

My Catholic middle and high schools did that just fine 25 years ago.

The whole ‘just wear a condom and have at it’ ‘safe sex’ campaign is a fraud, because unprotected oral sex is the elephant in the room. The whole point really is to encourage promiscuity.

And what really pisses me off is when some of the die-hards talk like *everyone* needs to wear condoms, up to and including married people. Its as if they want to fool people into trading real intimacy and trust for short term thrills.

    • unknown jane

My kids were raised on a farm and had a fair understanding of “where babies come from” — even if it was baby animals — at a young age. There was really no way to get around explaining certain things to them when they could basically see it out in the pastures and barn lots.

It probably didn’t hurt them a bit to have their questions answered in a reasonable way; in fact, it probably helped quite a bit (if anything it likely helped them to critique and see through some of the clap trap they later got in high school health class).

However, as you allude to, there is a very big difference between fielding a child’s innocent questions about “where do babies come from” and “what are the boy and girl horse/cow/dog/chicken/etc. doing to each other” than this disgusting filth that is being foisted off as so-called sex education.
This isn’t fielding the innocent (and reasonable) questions of children — this is forceful indoctrination and destruction of that innocence, and parents need to realize that in many schools sex ed really isn’t about the former so much as the later (and many parents do believe and trust that it is the opposite).
I’m speechless, and sick to my stomach. What a horrible thing to do to children, what awful potential consequences for our world.

  9. 9. arhooley

Sorry I can’t remember the names, but this experiment was conducted at a kibbutz many years ago. The children were raised to be gender-indifferent for lack of a better term, and were forced to participate in co-ed nudity in showers. The girls rebelled. It appears that modesty and privacy are also natural parts of sexual development. Every father knows that at some point his baby-girl locks him out of the bathroom.

  10. 10. Jonk

These “educators” are twisted perverts. Want kids to know about sex? Buy a boy pet and a girl pet. They’ll figure it out. But I’m pretty sure the perverts don’t really care about sex education, just social engineering.

  11. 11. Gork

As repulsed as I am at this, I’ll try to keep an open mind. So my questions are as follows:

If they’re going to change this stuff, shouldn’t there be a metric or a problem they’re trying to solve? How do they know that these methods are doing anything positive or negative?

In other words, why do they think this is a good thing to do?

    • Zombie

      Yes, the metric is this:

Woman still have babies. That needs to be stopped.

Only a small minority of people self-identify as gay. That needs to be rectified.

Some people still have a moral structure. Got to create a new generation of young’uns with no morals.

Once that is sorted out they can stop the sex education.

      • AlexaL

Zombie, as I’ve mentioned to Gork, it’s 4am here in the UK so perhaps tiredness is making me miss a point or two, but how do the points you’ve made in your reply create the environment conducive to Gramscian policies being ushered in?

Genuine question! I really am tired!

      • Jamie W.

  13. 13. Byrdi

There is a group of mental health professionals pushing to decriminalize pedophilia. “They argue that pedophiles are misunderstood and should not be criminalized. They even prefer calling them minor-attracted individuals.” I have to assume the same is being accepted there and then they teach a 5 year old that sex is pleasurable. What kind of society are they trying to promote here.

Watch out. This is definitely coming to the US. Kevin Jennings who was the Safe School Czar also encouraged sex ed in Kindergarten. He has suggested reading material for grades K-12 that show graphic images in cartoon format of people engaged in various forms of intercourse. One book suggests prostitution as a viable career choice. He is a member of NAMBLA and was appointed by Obama. I’ll bet his kids won’t be reading those books.

    • liberal_mom

He is not a member of NAMBLA. This is not to say that I condone NAMBLA in any form or fashion, but please do your research.

      • Zombie

Kevin Jennings said that his #1 hero and inspiration was Harry Hay — a famous NAMBLA member.

So you are correct, there is no evidence that Jennings himself was in NAMBLA, but citing Hay as your hero is bad enough — it’s like saying that Marx is your favorite economist, but you’re not a communist, really!

        • liberal_mom

I am just trying to stick to facts. I think there are several things in this article that could use more fact checking. When people begin exaggerating, it is easy to lose perspective. Thanks.

      • Tom,MA

Though perhaps Kevin Jennings was not a member of NAMBLA, on several occasions he praised NAMBLA, and NAMBLA thanked him for his support.

  14. They want to do the same thing in Helena , Montana. Every Country that has adopted UNISEX , meaning now difference between men and women. When is someone going to figure out , only women can have babies. The trouble is women no longer care. Their careers are more important then being a mother. Being a mother is a full time job, the trouble is so is her car. If the men would stop fixing their vehicles , most of the car would die, and maybe they would go back to being a mother, and stop the schools from teaching sex ti children.

So why are not Swiss mothers not leading a charge to basically drop these clowns in a deep, deep hole and cover them up?

Forget Gramsci, you can’t sell sand in the Sahara or Ice Cubes to an Eskimo. [Thanks Zombie for the warnings, I've decided discretion is the better part of valor and will those images remain unseen. I've seen enough revolting things in my life, no need to add to them.]

Even if all Swiss mothers are single mothers, why are they not DEMANDING this nonsense STOP and all these guys get punished! They’re perfectly able when younger to go on “Slut Walks” as documented here. So why no protests?

That education is rife with abuse and perverts is no mystery, the very nature of it (lots of kids) attracts those kinds, like a flame does moths at night. What shocks me is that no Swiss mothers have risen up and confronted these people at work, at home, among their own kids, in public, defacing their vehicles, making threats, and often carrying them out. The usual state of affairs when people in Europe get very, very angry.

My conclusion is that most Swiss mothers are perfectly fine with this happening to their own kids. No other conclusion can be drawn, IMHO.

    • Zombie

Actually, if you read the articles, there is a pretty big seeming upwelling of revulsion and rejection about this sex education program. But, this being Switzerland, they’re doing it with petitions and the media and lawyers and so forth, rather than violence.

  19. 19. Bladerunner

Why would Europeans let themselves and their children be subjected this way? I think it is simply because the majority of Europeans have in their DNA the ‘Slave Gene’. They do what they are told and they have been doing this for centuries. I can only hope that this same Slave Gene has been diluted here in America. After all, our forefathers left Europe looking for freedom and a better life for themselves and their families. If these criminals (in the real sense of the word) were in charge here and trying to do this in our school districts one would hope that there would be massive demonstrations, even riots. These perverts should be called by what they are-Pedophiles. They have taken over and are sanctioned by the government and allowed to prey on the most innocent of their own society- children. You cannot have a free society in a society ruled by Criminals and made up of zombies. No wonder Europe is just starting to burn.

Bladerunner, you’re right about calling these government psychologists as pedophilic. But I’m a Swiss and I can tell you, we for sure do not have slave genes. :-)
Point is, that just a small part of our country is involved into this sex box stuff. Meanwhile, our whole country has taken notice of this perversion and there are a lot of political actions to stop it. In most parts of Swirzerland there is absolute no intention to have a sex box for young children in school and I’m confident, that also the town of Basle will soon be back on the right way.

There is no such thing as it can not get worse. It can certainly get worse. People find that out when they cross over.
Europe is being smothered in Islam propaganda. In Islam thighing babies is a man’s ‘right’ and all perversion is acceptable and considered ‘holy’.

Therefore, in order to ‘protect’ the man’s right to practise perversion on anyone, including children, it is best to educate them young. This is just the first step in teaching children that what they really are is ‘simple sex toys’.

The time is coming when not a single tear will be shed at their passing.

What next for 6 year olds? The draft [okay, Muslims using children as unabombers doesn't count], drinking, drugs, smoking, driving, adopting their own babies, porn [nevermind], running for political office…etc.?

    Gah!

    I probably spoke too soon.

In the eyes of ‘Lefties’…”innocence is EVIL” I guess.

I guess if you take a child’s innocence away soon enough, a pedo can say that there was nothing he/she ‘stole’. :(

This deeply sickens and angers me on so many levels.

  22. This are too many big subjects to go into at such a late hour, so let me drop a few quick notes:

    1. The influence of atheism: Nietzsche, Darwin (springing from his ideas), Freud, Marx.

    2. The influence of pragmatism as a political philosophy. See William James, John Dewey. A highly underestimated influence on the modern left.

    3. The New Left guru Gyorgy Lukacs, whose sexualization of youth as Minister of Culture in Communist Hungary so infuriated Christians it led to one of the few revolts and overthrows of a communist government prior to 1989.

    • Rob Crawford

Darwin would have been smart enough to recognize that cultural mores have evolved through the same process as organisms, and would have been reluctant to throw out adaptive behaviors and mores simply out of some novel theory.

  23. What kind of coward allows their children to be subjected to this garbage just because the government says they must? Is there no courage left? Is there no one who will declare, “You will not cross this line with my child?” Such trembling fools as these are as bad as the perverts who instruct their children. If you want to see what they will do with our children when allowed, go to YouTube and type in “boldtruth4america” Then click on “The Pied Pipers” and see what is already happening in America.

Why do individuals not stand up?

There is a very good reason: in many places, if you did stand up and refuse to send your child to the class, you could get yourself in trouble with child protective services (heh, there’s some bitter irony right there, huh?).
You see, by denying your poor child access to “education” you are being an abusive and neglectful parent — and if the state child protective (ha) agencies get a case on you what happens to your kids?

Notice that I emphasize “individuals” — and truly, I’m a bit frustrated at the response of some conservatives: why don’t these people (which emphasizes the individual) stand up to xyz? Do you not realize the potential risks for the individual? If you do, then why do many seem to insist that a few sacrificial lambs go and sacrifice themselves (and their families) to do something that it would appear would benefit society as a whole? Is this, to be very honest, fair?
No, the proper response is: WE need to do something about this! So instead of saying “you need to” why not from now on “WE need to do”.

  24. 24. RKae

How did the human race procreate before sex ed? How did we survive before these enlightened ones appeared amongst us with their hands-on visual aids?

And why do they feel the need to educate children? Do they fear that if there’s no education the kids will grow up doing sex incorrectly? What THE HELL do these people consider “incorrectly”? They are the ones who think a fist and an anus are sexual organs!

    • sinz54

Before sex ed, we had something called the “shotgun wedding.”

Young people always experimented with sex, even though they didn’t know that the probability of unprotected sex resulting in pregnancy is about 80%.

But the pregnant girl’s outraged father then told the boy that if he didn’t “do the right thing by her,” he would beat him to a pulp (or worse). So you had a lot of teenage weddings. To enable this, the legal age of marriage was a lot lower then.

IOW, personal responsibility was strictly enforced by parents.

      • RKae

Well, there you go: Personal responsibility and parents – two things we don’t have much of anymore.

On a related note, The One is actually reading something besides his autobiographies and fawning articles about Himself in the NYT while he’s vacationing on Martha’s VIneyard.

You guessed it- “Brave New World”.

I doubt he’s reading it to make notes on how NOT to turn the world into Huxley’s nightmare. More likely, he’s outlining how to bring it all about in his second term.

At times, reality can get even more twisted than the most dystopian SF. Especially when a political leader looks at an imagined dystopia, and sees it as a blueprint for Paradise.

I heard that Brave New World was on one of his kids’ reading list for school. I’m worried if he read it, it would give him some ideas. But maybe that’s where he got his ideas from already.

      • liberal_mom

I don’t get it – did y’all not read ‘Brave New World’ in school? I did, in the ninth grade, and I don’t recall being scarred from it. In fact, I abstained from sex far longer than almost everyone I knew. If it is on his child’s reading list, I think that is great that he is reading it. What a great example to set for the parents of this nation, that the man with the most important job is still involved in his kids’ education.

Frankly, I am much more scared that we are becoming an “Idiocracy”, not a “Brave New World”.

        • unknown jane

That’s because you were reading it, observing it from the outside, not actually living it!

Are you really this dense or just being wilful?

Anyone who wants to deny children their childhood by foisting sex onto them too soon is a pervert in my view and should be prosecuted.

  27. 27. CT

Often children who have been desensitized by their fathers (or their priest) grow up to be happy and healthy prostitutes or drug addicts, so I am not sure what could be the problem here. Obviously these wise leaders know the best thing for the children in their community, their country. Take away their innocence and nothing will happen. How refreshing to find people so much wiser than God.

    • RKae

I’m going to have to call you on the “priest” mention – unless you can show me that a priest is more likely to molest your child than a soccer coach, dance instructor or drama teacher… or celebrity pop star for that matter.

The media have been very viliglant about pushing the connection of the word “priest” with the word “molest.” They want those two things connected like you’d connect “Jethro Tull” and “flute.”

The person most likely to molest a child is the single mom’s live-in boyfriend. But anyone in the news media will instantly tell you “Hey, don’t stigmatize single moms who are trying to find happiness!” What’s the difference between the two scenarios? The media are actively trying to stop people from going to church and actively trying to promote divorce and freer sexual standards.

      • Tsepes

Public school teachers molest at a higher rate than catholic priests as well.

  28. 28. Jeetman

I originally saw this on “the blaze dot com”. Let me start like this….

I’m a very conservative American. I cherish and love my children just most parents do. If I were presented with this curriculum in my child’s education (which I check to make sure I know what my child is being taught), I’d tell them my child WILL NOT BE PARTICIPATING in this lesson. If someone had the nerve to tell me that I have no choice, then I’d say OK. I’d ask when the class was being taught. Once I found out when the class was being presented, I’d make sure my child was NOT THERE!

Also, If I was in front of Eyemann and he told me that my child must attend his curriculum, I’d say,”who the “f” do you think you are? and probably punch him in the face. I cannot stand people like this man who thinks he knows better and has the nerve to force people to do as HE says. We need to stop these morons in there tracks. FIRE this jerk! GET HIM OUT OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM!!!!

  29. 29. Thomas_L......

So much for “kiddie porn” being illegal, immoral or NSFW. Switzerland sure has “progressed” beyond cuckoo clocks. Appalling.

    • Marianne (Germany)

Just a note: The home of the cuckoo clock is the Schwarzwald(black forest), a region in Baden-Württ.,Germany.

  30. One of the unintended consequences of this will be that the children will gain a warped understanding of human sexuality. To show genitalia outside of the context of a complete human is grotesque to say the least. Children will be taught that they can “objectify” their most private parts, and the parts of other people, and that genitalia exists only for pleasure and has no other value. The Swiss will create a generation of sexual monsters with this. Without having the context of relationship development, courtship, commitment, marriage, and the sacred role of sex in procreation, these children will become sexually dehumanized. Not to mention the mental, emotional, and developmental problems that affect children who are sexualized at an early age. This should be resoundingly condemned around the world.

    • Eva

“children will gain a warped understanding of human sexuality.”

No kidding and on so many levels. The female plush ‘toy’ with it’s barely represented clitoral hood looks like it’s been the victim of female genital mutilation. Either the creator of these things has never seen real female anatomy or is trying to send a different message about what a girls genitals ‘should’ look like.

  31. 31. mac

Recent reading had me discover that when sex ed was introduced into U.S. schools teen pregnancy increased.Thomas Sowell published the “numbers” in his Vision of the Anointed. So did Gonnorea, and abortions.
Numbers are a pesky thing to progressives aren’t they.

    • Delia

Not to mention genital warts [also HPV] and genital herpes. Now people want to vaccinate their daughters against HPV because it’s so prevalent.

      YAY ‘progress’!

I also love the comment the idiot made about children being exposed to so much pornography as if , parents have zero control over their kids’ behavior.

Control? Shall we keep them in boxes? We obviously can’t send them to school.

  33. 33. ari

you know, teachers lie, right? in America, you have to sign a consent form for health education classes. The letters detail what will be covered. I signed a paper saying that my child would have a class covering (1) your body is changing and (2) hygiene. The letter specified that this would be age appropriate. I thought I had just signed a paper saying that my child would hear about pit hair, and take a shower daily, and floss.

My child came home, and started acting out like he had been molested. Exactly like those odd after-school specials kids. It took several days of probing- with him drawing pictures, him acting out, and then his father taking him to dinner, and asking, in an almost hostage de-briefing sort of way….to find out what he had been subjected to. I am still sick and outraged.

I went to the principal, and I presented my issues- the principal laughed at me, and said that boys were just embarassed, and they had to get over that. And that the following year’s presentation would be more explicit, and that boys and girls would be in the class. I was sick. I am still sick. These are people I trusted to have decent judgment and care for all our children. The school nurse, the principal, the assistant principal, the teacher……..

I started talking to every parent I could about what my child had been through. I started talking on the internet. The following year, all of them were gone from the school. I was getting advised on how to sue them, for grooming my child for molestation.

    Teachers lie. Principals collaborate.

and, btw, the more progressive nations mentioned in the article- have very strong cps networks, and habits of stealing religious children from their sheltering parents. It’s frightening to think of raising a child in europe. they don’t really have an independent media, so the cases get publicised here in America, but not there. The parents are treading very carefully around a self-righteously violent towards children state apparatus. Don’t knock the parents- you read the articles- they don’t want their children stolen from them, or to get weekly harassment visits from social workers, or investigated for social crimes of some sort or another. just b/c they don’t have stomping guards putting grownups in prisons, does not mean the state does not menace lives these people hold dear- they are vulnerable with their children’s lives at stake.

Also, there are more women without children, than with. Women without children, in American film are usually characterized as “poisonous virgins.” Well, they nmight be having sex, so they think this doesn’t apply to them. But, as a mother, I can tell you the most dangerous people to me and my children is an childless woman with a theory. Mothers are vulnerable- they have children, they aren’t in peak physical health, usually, they are surrounded by immature people who aren’t socially controlled- bka children. Another mother knows that a child will say and do immature things that make no sense. And unchilded woman sees- a floozy who couldn’t keep her IUD in place, and an ungoverned monster who just needs some strictness, or an orderly bedtime. Stepmothers are a typical monster in fairytales- not b/c they are the naughty mother of Bruno Bettelheim’s fantasty- but b/c stepmothers without that physical connection to that child- can be extraordinarily dangerous.

And, Europe doesn’t give stolen children back. The communists used cps to steal greek children. When they retreated from Greece, they took to the children to Poland, where they lived lives of misery and degradation. The parents spent decades pleading for their children to be returned…..

evil, evil, evil, evil, and evil.

may god have mercy on us, since we do not have mercy on each other.

    • Jamie W.

More moms need to speak up like this.

I think it’s a function of third-wave feminism: the rejection of all that is motherly in a woman, replacing the hole it leaves with sexuality and lust.

I share your worry. I have five, myself, and will never live up north because of the one time I dealt with their CPS thugs.

  34. I don’t remember who said it but it remains true:

Modern liberal society is one that sexualizes children and infantilizes adults.

  35. 35. Joan

What a refreshing approach that shows the cleanliness and normality of sexual relations. We in America do not seem to be able to sell a product or write TV programs, movies or music for entertainment without filling it with guilt or filth or tawdry sex. As our youngsters grow this seems like the best possible approach to instructing them in a way that will make them grow into adults who are not jaded in their approach to their own sexuality and that of others. The parents are ill equipped to do a better job.

Finally, somebody offers up a real solution to these professional-level pigs. Of course, I would never advise anybody take up violence against the state–that’s illegal!–but when somebody does it, I’m not surprised.

I read a book about a contemporary revolution occurring in the U.S. and the story unfolded much differently than I would have expected. Instead of revolutionary armies, the revolutionaries were just single individuals, each hell-bent on removing some federal person from the loop. They’d get ‘em on their way to work while sitting in traffic, or in the bathroom at the gym, out on their evening jogs, etc. In the end, the federal gov’t recognized it could not stop a growing revolution, all while their ranks were thinning and thousands of other staff were quitting. The feds finally called off it’s assault on whatever civil right. It was a not a story of tanks, airplanes, and bombs, but lives were ruined on both sides nonetheless. I expect something like this will eventually happen considering the grievous failures of our gov’t, like the refusal to secure our border with Mexico (thereby introducing real threat to each American) or else some very real assault on civil rights like, oh, the Second Amendment.

I think the most disturbing thing about this is that the sex organs are disembodied – as if sexuality is divorced from the rest of the body and soul. That removes the freedom of parents to teach sexuality in the context of, at least, loving relationships – instead, it’s just a couple pieces of meat that fit together just so.

I’m not saying this very well, possibly because I find it so revolting, but I think y’all get the idea.

Not likely to happen, but if anything like this comes to my daughters’ school, we’ll start homeschooling that day.

If parents in Switzerland don’t start pulling their children out of school and vociferously complaining, then they are stupid. Small children are NOT INTERESTED in sex except where is pertains to having a little brother of sister. And they definitely don’t want details. This is evil beyond measure and must be fought!

    • Before I make this reply I want to point out that I know Germany is not Switzerland.

However, we Americans should be aware that homeschooling is not always a realistic option for European parents. For example, see this article, which talks about homeschooling in Germany. http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/1389

“The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) does not protect European citizens against Hitler’s laws. On 11 September the Strasburg-based court ruled that the (German) State may deny parents the right to homeschool their children. The EU Court’s decision [pdf] states that the right to education “by its very nature calls for regulation by the State.””

Something that we should be aware of–the longer we allow Progressive politicians to rule in DC, the more likely that someday homeschooling will be outlawed in our grand old republic as well.

The U.S. department of Education has no foundation in the U.S. constitution. We need to nullify the egregiously unconstitutional laws that establish a single federal agency in charge of picking our children’s curriculum. It seems to me that anything less is a denial of parents’ freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

That’s my opinion as a parent and as a high-school English teacher.

  41. 41. Isahiah62

it is weirdly ironic that the same people willing to “teach” children about sex at too early an age- are the same ones telling us to “tolerate” and “understand” Muslims who certainly will be the FIRST to protest such “teachings”. They will have to face the whirlwind of immigrants who they advocate for, people who think it is promiscuous and dangerous for little girls to show their hair (on their heads! not vaginas) or their faces in some cases, people who blame rape on the girl who dares wear a dress or has uncovered arms.

I am looking forward to the Brave New World of murdered school teachers, b/c surely the first who “teaches” this crap to a Muslim’s child will be fatwa’d into dead meat.

Zombie, as I’ve mentioned to Gork, it’s 4am here in the UK so perhaps tiredness is making me miss a point or two, but how do the points you’ve made in your reply create the environment conducive to Gramscian policies being ushered in?

Once you understand the true intent of “the long march through the instutions” (Antonio Gramsci,) it becomes apparent that the “institutions” to which he referred were those of family, national identity and public order.

Gramsci’s contention was that, absent those pillars of stability, a society would soon descend into chaos – and beg for totaliarianism as a means of turning down the noise. He believed, of course, that this would be a good thing in the interests of establishing a world-wide revolution without the necessity of Lenin’s tactic of eternal violence.

If this situation is not a perfect example, I defy you to show me one.

The book “Lisa und Jan” was already published in 1992 by the well-known Beltz Verlag.(1996, 3rd edition). Beltz recommended “Lisa und Jan” as a educational book for children and their parents. This indicates that the book needs support of sensible grown-ups and should not be read alone. Years ago, I considered to buy the book(it was recommended in the book shop), however many words used were rather vulgar and should not be used in a book for children(at least from my Catholic viewpoint). The drawings have been good. Since Basel considers to use the book, there is an ongoing debate in the Swiss and German media. Many children and parents love the book, many parents and the Catholic Church hate it. The Swiss people can vote directly on this issue. Furthermore, the book is nearly 20 years old, time for new ideas.

Thank you for this information. I was trying to verify whether this article is true and could find nothing about this book anywhere. I suspect that the author of the Blick article referenced this book to further sensationalize the story, which I truly believe to be satire.

  47. The problem is not that this sort of thing gets started. [Evil gets started a lot.] The problem is that it is allowed to continue. In a society of men and women–rather than unisexed de-moralized political units—this evil would have been crushed by parents grabbing the principals and curriculum consultants by the seat of their pants—or by their scrawny necks—and giving them the bum’s rush down the stairs.

I posted in response to someone above, but I want to again add this comment because of obama’s appointments to the dept of edu.

  50. Welcome to what is happening here in the United States via the Common Core Standards. What are they? Basically nationalized common standards and assessments for the 44 states have signed onto. This means YOUR state cannot set what is appropriate for students and the local districts have no power either.

What happens if this type of sex education is considered an appropriate standard for your consortia (that now sets the standards)? Your state will be under a mandate to teach from a “sex box”. Do you have any recourse as a parent or taxpayer to stop it? No. None at all except to remove your child from that school. Your State Board of Education has signed away its authority to set standards if it is included in the 44 states. And joy of all joys! Arne Duncan has announced yet another federal program…Race to the Top for Pre-K which will track infants!

Is your child attending a private school and you want vouchers? Well, with those vouchers come federal strings and probably the same standards for all charters and public schools…because once a school accepts public money…it has the mandates as well. Charters are under the SAME standards as the traditional public schools…that’s not very innovative, is it?

Want to read more about these standards and how they have less to do with education and more for indoctrination (such as in Switzerland)? Here’s a non-partisan, citizen led website: http://www.truthinamericaneducation.com.

This is our reality in America. If we don’t stop these nationalized standards, this is what we are facing here in the United States. I suggest the government will want to determine how effective these “sex boxes” are for young children when they compile data on students in the later grades: http://www.missourieducationwatchdog.com/2011/06/sex-surveys-and-other-invasive.html

  51. This has one goal only – to spit God in the face and rob the gift of innocence he gave to each child and God gives a death sentence to anyone who robs a child of their innocence, which this article is about. Karl Marx would be so proud ! This is part of the Communist Manifesto and the Marxist Communist Progressive (same thing) system ! Satan himself is the influence of this.

A country/government cannot get any lower or evil then this ! When this happens, you know a country has fallen into the pits of hell !
Remember Sodom and Gomorrah ? The same fate awaits any nation that does this to their innocent children or any parent that allows it!
Talk about a reason for taking down a government or system that calls itself a “government’ – this is more then enough reason to take it out completely !

  52. 52. justavoter

Pedophiles are in control of producing these objects and books. Those who abduct small children in the name of progress are sick human beings and are trying to satisfy their own sick urges in public. Whatever happens will be well deserved as chilren depend on adults to care for them, not shove sex down their little throats. These adults are surely destroying the world from the inside out. Government has no business whatsoever in our children’s underwear. These adults are taking the innocense and childhoods away from these innocent children. Horrifying!! This just sickens me.

  53. 53. Suzanne

    This is all truly revolting.

Knowing how these things go, though, from all the tedious iterations we’ve witnessed over the last several decades, I actually find myself wondering when the gay agitators (including possibly the gay parents) are going to insist on providing a fabric anus to put alongside the fabric vagina… After all, the little ones need to know what Tommy’s two daddies are getting up to, right? for equal time or whatever. When do the children get to hear about humans and animals? This is all perfectly OK, right?

I never thought I would be looking back at my school days (I graduated from high school in 1975), which were plenty dumbed down, as we recognized at the time, as the golden days; even my own children’s schooling (my youngest is a senior right now) has been wonderful, compared to what seems about to happen to children starting now.

  54. 54. Suzanne

Thanks to Zombie for another thought-provoking essay, and to the previous commenters (all except for Joan! What was that?!) for their interesting if upsetting remarks.

What will be the effect of this institutionalized sexualization of small children, if and when it comes here from Europe, on the laws we have (even if they’re not always properly enforced) against sexual contact with children? I suppose the movement in the APA, though now small, against the stigmatization of pedophilia, is paving the way here for a more ‘progressive and enlightened’ approach…

The fact that some children may explore their own bodies (when left alone) or possibly one another’s, should not be taken as government’s cue to step in to control and promote it. What’s going to happen at recess?–will it be the teacher’s job to insist that everyone gets to play, you have to share, don’t exclude Mary or Johnny…? It would be laughable if it weren’t so infuriating!

Can’t we tell the difference between children touching themselves, or even exploring each other, and adults encouraging and facilitating this? I can imagine the cries of, “Hooray! This generation of children won’t have the sexual hang-ups of all previous generations!” And yes, how satisfying to the progressive bureaucrat to know that here’s another one right in the eye for traditional (not to speak of religious) families!

Someone does have a terrific need to sexualize the children. Why is it that most children’s playclothes are no longer absolutely distinct from adult styles? Who is it who buys those shirts with adult slogans for their little children? And why is it that all the beautiful teenaged girls wear shirts and dresses that are cut low as if imitating 18th century fashion? I find it astonishing; I would have found it uncomfortable and embarrassing at their age. They’d be no less beautiful in shirts that covered them more, just somewhat less on display.

I think they dress this way to be cutting edge, modern and with-it; unwittingly, though, they are also gratifying the interest of others, which is the part I find unnecessary. I wonder what the parents are thinking.

      • liberal_mom

Thank you. I still don’t see my original comment, but perhaps it will show up eventually. I have tried to rephrase my original thoughts in a less emotional way, so I apologize for any duplications.

The gist of my original comment was that I am a mom, I work, and I am a liberal. I would not want what is described in the article at my childrens’ school. It is my feeling that the article is satire, and I would just hope that everyone will do their own research before getting too upset. Thanks again.

        • So it turns out that it’s not satire, alas.

Neither is the fact that a small group within the APA (including professors from Johns Hopkins and Harvard) are advocating that pedophilia no longer be considered a mental illness, and that society be nicer and more welcoming to people who are sexually attracted to children. You can find info. about this (already happening in the US, whereas the sex box is still a few years away in Europe) on the Pajamas Media site, also on Hot Air.

          • liberal_mom

Suzanne, can you please direct me to a specific link on a non-partisan site to validate this claim? I will be googling in the meantime. Thanks.

        • Zombie

It is my feeling that the article is satire, and I would just hope that everyone will do their own research before getting too upset.

It may serve your political agenda to have a “feeling” that the article is “satire,” but unfortunately your “feeling” contravenes reality.

I would just hope that you do your own research before reassuring yourself that it’s a just a joke.

I feel this could be a watershed moment for you. First: follow my links (in my comments and in the article); then do some actual searching on your own. (Here’s a good resource: Chronology of the Sex Box controversy, with dozens of reliable mainstream links in the third column).

Once you’ve finally accepted the fact that this is real, then ask yourself. How and why is this happening?

The people pushing this in Switzerland are the self-decribed Swiss “progressives” and “liberals,” and their political goals are the same as the American progressives and liberals.

You hopefully will soon come to realize that the sexualization of children is in fact a core progressive platform; and this platform comes straight from Marxist thought, which holds that the destruction of the nuclear family is an essential precursor to the arrival of true communism. Liberalism has been hijacked and co-opted by Marxists. I know this will be hard to accept, but the more you look into it, the more it will be impossible to deny.

If you don’t want this happening to your own children, then perhaps you should rethink your political beliefs, because by simply being a liberal your are pushing this country in the same direction as the “Sex Box,” and ensuring that it will happen to your children, and to the children of every other Mom in America.

          • liberal_mom

Now *that* is a great link! Thank you. I will now amend my statements to say that while the sex box is real, the Blick article referenced here is sensationalized for maximum shock value, including the extra brightly colored photos (which make me want a cherry danish and a vienna sausage every time I see it).

I am not worried about my children, because ultimately I am the one who will be teaching them and raising them. They have a strong family unit, both nuclear and extended, and I am willing to discuss with them any situation or viewpoint they may encounter.

I will say again, I don’t believe that teaching children about their bodies is “sexualizing” them. I do believe it should be the role of the parent to answer questions and teach them the different between appropriate and inappropriate touching.

          • Zombie

I do believe it should be the role of the parent to answer questions and teach them…

Welcome to the libertarian/conservative side of the spectrum! That is EXACTLY what the folks on our side of the aisle advocate for — that it is the role of parents, and not the state, to make the decision about when and how to start sex education.

The liberal view — that sex ed be taught in state schools and be mandatory, and should not be the parents’ responsibility — is the exact opposite of your own stated preference.

You and I are in total agreement on this issue, then. The only problem is that you don’t understand the ramifications of your mistaken political affiliation.

          • liberal_mom

“The liberal view — that sex ed be taught in state schools and be mandatory, and should not be the parents’ responsibility — is the exact opposite of your own stated preference.”

See here’s the thing: I don’t define my political views in black or white. What you say above is wrong. I don’t think anyone in the right mind (or left-leaning mind) would say sex ed should not be the parents’ responsibility! Anything the school teaches should be a supplement to what is taught at home. I do think there is a place for some sex ed in the schools, as there are sadly many children without good parental involvement.

      • liberal_mom

Okay, I watched the video – thank you for the link. I have sent an email to Dr. Thomas Steffen, featured in the video, to get his take on the Blick article. We’ll see if he responds. And no, I am not embarrassed that my posts are all here – every discussion needs an opposing viewpoint to encourage independent thought.

        • Delia

          liberal_mom,

I home-schooled my daughter and I never, EVER shamed my daughter about her body or masturbation or her own sexuality. “Group-think” sexuality is VERY wrong imho. Children shouldn’t be exposed to an almost ‘gang-bang’ type of sexual education. That’s just sick in my eyes.

Anyway, I hope your eyes have been opened to how pedo the Lefties are.

        • Tim

See, here’s the funny thing about your ‘opposing point of view’: your first approach to this whole issue was to try to deny or discredit that it was actually real. All you had to do, like anyone else, was go to a site called google, and type in a couple of words. It takes about 5 seconds. Instead you wanted to suggest that it was a fake article, some kind of satire.
That suggestion shows that you understand that the claims made by this article are extreme ones. To suggest that this could only exist in satire, is like saying ‘ok this is too crazy to be real’. That’s basically admitting that it’s a bad thing. Then the other commentors actually spend (most likely waste) the time to find the links FOR you, and present them TO you, to get you to ADMIT what is going on here. Then your reaction is ‘ah ok, well it’s really no big deal’.

First it WAS a big deal, enough of a big deal that it HAD to be satire. Some kind of fabrication, because it was too absurd to be real. Then you are confronted with proof that it is and your stance is the opposite- it’s no big deal.

          Which is it?

  57. 57. Tyler

Sadly, I don’t even find this surprising any more.

The Swiss, Dutch, and others have spent the last several years pushing a growing movement to abolish age-of-consent laws and legalize child porn.

  58. 58. Per Uribe

No offense to anyone here, but you Americans are much too uptight about sex and sexuality. If you would only be this averse to violence and war you would have my blessings, but I feel that sex and sexuality are positive things for children to know about.

War and greed are actual sins, sex is not. I think if you Americans would calm down on sex and violence your nation would be less repressed and more satisfied.

    • MexDem

We Americans love our children, and want them to enjoy their childhood and not be preyed upon by perverted bureaucrats. Children as young as 18 months know of the existence of their sexual organs and the pleasurable sensations associated with them. They don’t need you, or any other adult to tell them about it. What they do need is a loving and caring adult to teach them about respect for themselves and for others, and about the proper place and time for expressing their sexuality: as adults in the context of a loving relationship with mutual respect.

    • unknown jane

No offense back, but you Europeans seem to have willingly allowed yourselves to become debased and obscene grotesqueries so sunk in your moral relativism and debauched self gratification that you appear to have forgotten what it means to be fully human — you make some of the more sketchy elements of American society look like pillars of morality and seemliness; dare I say it, but when I see some of the things coming out of Europe I don’t half but wonder if the Islamists don’t have a point about the sickness of Western civilization.

That’s very harsh, but it’s perhaps time to face the truth: this sort of thing destroys a person’s soul (or for the atheist: a person’s inner equilibrium and sense of humanity), because it rips a person away from all manner of ethics, mores, and self-control. It turns you into an animal, or worse (as animals do not have a concept of moral/ethical thought)…and when you become a mere animal do you realize what you are good for?
A yoke (hmmm, I do remember some very prominent Islamists saying that very thing about you Europeans — you will not fight, you will accept the yoke, because of what you have made yourselves into).

I feel sorry for those across the pond who are not yet ready and willing for the yoke, and I detest any here who would turn us into the same — better to fight than become something less than human and wear a yoke.

Last year, Der Speigel had a extensive article on the calculated sexualization of children within German “progressive” schools circa 1970: http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,702679,00.html

    • Zombie

      Great link!

liberal_mom (and all the other “liberal moms” out there), please take the time to read it — or at least read the sub-headline:

Germany’s left has its own tales of abuse. One of the goals of the German 1968 movement was the sexual liberation of children. For some, this meant overcoming all sexual inhibitions, creating a climate in which even pedophilia was considered progressive.

      Documentation in the article itself.

      Time to face reality!

      • Zombie

Also, check out this passage from the Der Speigel article, confirming my description of Daniel Cohn-Bendit:

Here, too, the distinctions become blurred. How should we react when Cohn-Bendit writes, in his memoirs, about “little, five-year-old girls who had already learned to proposition me?” It wasn’t the only time the Green politician raved about his experiences with children. In a largely unnoticed appearance on French television on April 23, 1982, Cohn-Bendit, a member of the European Parliament today, said the following:

“At nine in the morning, I join my eight little toddlers between the ages of 16 months and 2 years. I wash their butts, I tickle them, they tickle me and we cuddle. … You know, a child’s sexuality is a fantastic thing. You have to be honest and sincere. With the very young kids, it isn’t the same as it is with the four-to-six-year-olds. When a little, five-year-old girl starts undressing, it’s great, because it’s a game. It’s an incredibly erotic game.”

This guy is a flat-out pedophile. And yet…he is co-chair of the Green Party in the European Parliament and as a MEP one of the politician who controls Europe.

  60. 60. Wstrn_Patriot

I have enjoyed reading this article and all of the comments, it is very enlightening.

As a parent of four children, and a victim of sexual abuse when I was four years old, I can speak from personal experience that this educational process will lead many of the children into a state of hyper-sexuality, gender confusion and much pain in through their teenage years, and into adulthood.

Morality is a boundary to keep society in place, functioning and rational. Over-promoting sexual activity with the youth is wrong and leads to much harm later.

To check the validity of their argument for early sexual education, let’s replace the idea of teaching our kindergarten children about sexual pleasures with the idea of teaching them about guns! Let’s see how the progressives respond to the idea of allowing our children to become familiar with firearms. We could start out with them handling guns with blanks, since physically, kindergarten children cannot reproduce, using a pistol with blank provides the same level of training. It’s easy to continue this line of thinking, but the point is to check their logic.

IF there logical assumptions are accurate, then replacing the idea of sex education with a similar “dangerous” topic would produce similar acceptance.

From my personal experience that I lived through, becoming sexually active as a child is NOT a proper, decent, or appropriate idea. I wish I had learned about guns instead.

Because of my experience, I am very careful of the material my children have access to. I have NOT allowed sexual material, r-rated movies, casual, proactive dress or other material to be part of their lives at home. My children have high morals, a strong tie to family and clear goals for the future.

That is what we should all want for our families. WE decide what is best, not some “Expert”.

As for me, I still struggle with the sexual scars of my childhood.

ANYONE teaching such ideas are wildly wrong and WE need to stand against them.

    • Great analogy with “gun” education, Westrn_Patriot!

I am sorry that you were abused as a child.

It occurs to me that there are commonly-known references to the progressives’ long-standing agenda for the sexualization of children: remember the old Rosalind Russell movie, Auntie Mame? She was the wonderful, life-affirming lady who got landed with her stuffy brother’s orphaned son; for a while (in the Roaring Twenties) she was sending him to a progressive school where sex education was carried out by the teachers and children of both sexes taking off their clothes and pretending to be fish–entertainingly described by the little boy. The stuffy trustees of his father’s will make sure to send him to a stuffy, conventional boarding school thereafter.

If you’ve ever read anything about A.S. Neill’s Summerhill school (a so-called ‘free school’) in England, you’ll have heard about the children running around naked at will and doing what they like. Sometimes, to Neill’s annoyance, this resulted in complaints from girls and/or their parents, especially the stuffy, “up-tight” (ah, that really takes me back!) Americans, who felt that they were being coerced.

One might also think of the attitude of university administrators, and also, I suppose, professors, who receive our young people with the delighted feeling that now, at last, they can liberate America’s youth from the foolish religious, patriotic, Western cultural values they may have regrettably soaked up during childhood.

Whatever happened to just teaching subjects, like math and spelling and languages, at schools and in colleges, and letting the children and youth acquire their eventual world-views on their own and at their own pace?

    • Delia

I was sexually abused as a child too, Wstrn_Patriot, which is why this kind of subject really hits me hard as well.

If ‘WE’ don’t stand up for protecting children from this kind of crap, who will?

This kind of ‘progressive’ slippery slope into the complete annihilation of child’s innocence and their very childhood is absolutely sickening.

I get so angry I want to spit fire!

LiberalMom, if you check out Zombie’s answer at #48 (the 2nd one, in German, about “obligatory sex ed from kindergarten on”) and TurkeyVolume’s link at #59 to an article from Der Spiegel (given in English) about the history of child sex abuse as a form of education and liberation in the 1970s, you’ll have some good sources. (The comments on Der Spiegel also link to a truly disturbing account of Kinsey and pedophiles.)

Lots of educators have declared that their methods will create a new and better form of man, free of the mistakes of the past (i.e., of all human history). I’m beginning to think that, even when they sound positive and peaceful, it is their very assurance that they alone know how to solve humanity’s problems that actually makes them unfit to teach children.

Here’s a link from another PajamasMedia article, about the psychiatrists who favor de-stigmatizing pedophilia: http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/b4u-acts-rogues-gallery/

As I say, I read something on Hot Air about it, too; and an earlier article by Kyle-Ann Shiver on PJM, who very courageously revealed that her own father had been one who conscientiously ‘liberated’ her from sexual hang-ups, when she was a little girl. Maybe inspired by progressive educators, who knows.

Good luck as you check out these very disturbing links. If only it were all satire.

Thanks Suzanne. The main point of my request was to try to find information from a non-partisan (or less partisan I guess) source. Sending me to links on PajamasMedia or HotAir is like me sending you to Huffington Post or DailyKos – I think you probably wouldn’t take me too seriously.

I also think comparing sex education to teaching about guns is a false analogy. Firearms are not an innate part of every person. Again, I do not agree with this level of sex education at this young of an age, but I do believe in reading and keeping an open mind.

Not to open another whole can of worms, but I have watched a couple of episodes of Toddlers and Tiaras – I wonder what percentage of those parents would classify themselves as progressive liberals? Not many I would guess. That seems just as reprehensible to me if you’re talking about sexualizing young children.

This has been a very interesting discussion and has given me a lot to think about. Thanks to everyone for your input and have a great week.

      • liberal_mom

Never mind, I am not done yet. :) As an example, here is an article from the Huffington Post regarding sex ed starting in kindergarten:

        http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rev-debra-haffner/yes-sex-education-in-kind_b_126899.html

“Sex education in the early primary years sets a foundation for later, more in-depth education. It provides lessons on family roles, taking good care of your body and the correct names of body parts. It helps children feel good about their bodies, their gender and their families. To protect them against sexual abuse, it teaches children “no, go, tell” — say no, get away, and tell an adult you trust what happened. It promotes parent/child communication around these issues.

A primary school curriculum does not teach five- and six-year-olds about sexual behaviors, contraceptive methods, or indeed anything at all about what most people think of as “sex.” To suggest otherwise is a gross political distortion.”

I recently learned from an online friend that her not quite five-year old daughter had been raped by her 10 year old step-brother. She is of course devastated. I feel just as sorry for the boy as I do the girl. Apparantly he had been exposed to porn since a very early age, and did not have appropriate guidance from his parents. Would this type of early sex education have helped either of these children? As described by the reverend in the article I posted, I believe there is a good chance it could have.

        • Maybe the Rev. Debra Haffner can tell the Swiss education authorities to cease and desist from their sex education practices! But to deny that their lessons are meant to teach about “actual sex” (making genitalia into toys! my God!! and passing out warm bags of sand to promote public masturbation!!!)is surely the grossest of distortions.

      • Part of having an open mind is being able to read things on the internet and make one’s own evaluation, without relying on crude shorthand like “HuffPost bad, PJM good,” etc.

I wasn’t referring you to opinion pieces on PajamasMedia and Hot Air, but rather to pieces that included links to actual quotations from a forum on “minor-attracted adults” or whatever the PC replacement for “child molester” is, that was actually held earlier this month (it’s not just some fantasy or “satire,” unfortunately).

I agree that guns aren’t a part of one’s body (!), but the idea of self-appointed experts who are uniquely equipped to instruct the young in the proper use of equipment (as it were) the use of which can lead to certain dangers, affords a parallelism of sorts. Seriously, though, Westrn_Patriot went out there (in terms of risky personal disclosure) to make a serious point, and I wanted in some way to show how much I both agreed with him and appreciated the point.

If you read what I wrote (not that there’s any reason you should, of course!), you would see that I am prepared to deplore all kinds of ways parents choose to dress and sexualize their children. I don’t like beauty pageants, especially for small children, any more than I like the way the ‘edgy’ French (and therefore impossibly cool) fashion designer tarts up little girls in photos to look like high-class whores.

You could consider Googling the name of Dr. Fred Berlin, or of B4U-ACT, to see if you can come up with some site other than PajamasMedia or Hot Air to cover the pro-pedophilia conference. One might wonder why something so controversial isn’t covered more widely in the media…

        • liberal_mom

“One might wonder why something so controversial isn’t covered more widely in the media…”

And that is exactly what leads me to ask questions. I wasn’t saying I wouldn’t read the links, just that there is almost always an automatic bias when it comes to these sorts of sites. I have read everything written here – if I didn’t care about this topic I would not be here!

      And:

“Civilization” = oppression by the patriarchy and the ongoing rape of Gaia by the pestilential humans.

ACK! Einstein is no doubt rolling in his grave over that one, Zombie. ;p

  63. 63. ari

you might want to look at some of Dennis Prager’s articles on boundaried sexuality and civilization, vs unboundaried appetites.

Or, for that matter, Peter ( ?) Schweizer’s book “makers and takers.” one chapter is on sex ed, and things of that ilk. He is just collating others’ research. Usually, impeccably leftist researchers, I might add. What they found was that more conservative families talked to children a great deal more about their bodies, their developments, and so on, but not as a sex ed curriculum would have you talk- but as a parent- good choices, self-control, marriage, where babies come from, etc etc etc. And it was very, very age specific. Parents would say ” you are too young for that. I will tell you XYZ…” and the kids would go along with that.

I’d like to point out that a sex- ed teacher is going to get hissy about using the latin names of parts- so there is some mystification going on. There’s an article in the New York Times a few years ago about the best salesperson at one sex-toy company. it was a baptist choir member in arkansas. her seminars were both educational, and so on…but she used “man in the boat,” which was on par with her customer’s educational level, rather than clitoris. There were letter-writers upset that she had used language that her customers used, rather than latin names. As far as I know, we all bang our shins, hurt our knees, break our fingers— we do not bang our distal whatever, hurt our patella, and break our phalanges. This is a form of mystification. It is professional intimidation.

Or, a second thing- sex ed photos- they show dressed people, and then the x-ray view of their body parts. Okay, so an athletic girl is likely to damage her knee- why is her education about her knee not of a dressed girl, with a knee x-ray diagram? It’s perversion training. Seriously- you are supposed to look at your class full of teenage girls, and see their faces, and then under their clothes- their sexual parts. Not their intestines, not their liver, not their knees- just their “tap that on a friday night if you’re lucky” parts.

I reiterate: a woman without children is dangerous to other women’s children. Dan

Oh,golly, poor Zombie. follow the bookworm links. It’s heartbreaking. it leads to an article from a belgian catholic who had to protest a pedophile bishop in residence. “colen” and ‘belgium’ and ‘danneels’ or something like that. It’s really heartbreaking.

Sigh. dear liberal-mom. I was a peer- educator in high school. this meant, among other things, that I had a giant ( more than my gyn’s office) GIANT basket of otc birth control to hand out to my high school acquaintances. This meant i did things like take the bus with kids who needed to get blood tests for that mysterious new disease- grid, now known by that cuddly acronym aids.( we all want to help, assist and aid one another, right?) this meant I knew our bodies, ourselves, backwards and forwards, and, even now, I sometimes have to break it out for a thirty-something year old, to explain something about their body.. This meant I was friends with CDC researchers, other peer educators, child sex-workers, sexually-oriented business business owners, the owner of the local swingers’ club, etc etc etc etc. Pretty far out there, right?

I was SHOCKED by what my innocent little kid was exposed to in elementary school. I had to wheedle the information pack out of the hands of the assistant principal, by playing on several years of volunteering, and also, saying “hey, I was a peer- educator. Did you get enough facts right?’ and making fun of religious sex- ed. The curriculum was- first off- written for older kids- and second–sigh, I did run it by a rabbi, and a priest. A majority of the kids in this school are of these religious persuasions- and the booklet flat contradicted basic catechism stuff, and flat violated statements in the Old Testament.

I don’t know how a sex ed curriculum can call itself decent or good, if it flatly contradicts what parents and religious figures teach their children, and does so by lying to the parents, and then concealing as much of the evidence as possible. I only knew b/c my child reacted so strongly.

When my child has had issues before- being overwhelmed in a loud classroom, wanting to sit next to a different kid, etc- I have had sympathetic hearings with these people. When my child actually, really had a terrible, overwhelming problem- they told him he had to suck it up, and that it would get worse the following year. Unless they intend to provide a hooker or a wife for him at some pre-determined age- I’m not seeing why he has to conform to their timeline of debasing his sexual innocence.

I know that you love your child, and that you are confident that you are surrounded by good-hearted, wise, kind grownups who only have your kids’ interests at heart. Please, research, and re-consider. If I can be shocked, anyone else would be murderously outraged. They took a kind, funny, innocent child, and in one day, by the hands of a stranger- not someone with children- and someone else with no children- collaborated to turn him into a hunched little child flinching from hugs, barely able to speak, drawing sad-faced chalk critters, crying in shame from having to say “don’t make me say those words! Don’t make me say those words!” overwhelmed little kid. A poor little boy who said ” Don’t let (brother) and don’t let (sister) especially! take this class! Keep them out! don’t let them hurt them!” My ten year old was trying to protect his younger brothers and sisters. My heart broke- that’s my job, protecting them. I thought I had- but I had been lied to. That’s when I started researching.

you might want to find Kay Hymowitz’s articles on sex ed. some go back a few years. she writes for city journal.

How do I say this- if you are liberal, and you like Hillary Clinton- and you like her books – ” It takes a Village to Raise a Child”???

Okay, what do you do when your village is Sodom or Gomorrah? Or Carthage, home of the baby-sacrificing idol? What do you do?

Do you sacrifice your child? Do you flee? Can you flee? It has a high cost? Are you in despair- these are your neighbors! These are people you trusted to live among in peace.

Maybe you don’t want to live in a village- maybe you ought to consider a city, with a “first do no harm” sort of rule. Just a thought, a shining city, a city on a hill……….

  67. 67. Ringo

Although not nearly as extreme as Switzerland’s “sex boxes”, California just passed a law requiring schoolchildren as young as 5 years of age to learn about the contributions of gays and lesbians to American history. No evidence was offered that any gay or lesbian historical figure has ever been omitted from any history lesson because they were gay, or even that any individual’s ‘gayness’ was significant to their contribution to American history or culture. But now California children will have to learn about the sexual orientation of the historical figures they learn about in class. The real reason for the law, of course, is to expose children to homosexuality at an early age regardless of parental objections – for how can you teach a young child about gay historical figures without first explaining to them what “gay” is?

    • Zombie

Here’s my take on that issue:

As you say, “No evidence was offered that any gay or lesbian historical figure has ever been omitted from any history lesson because they were gay.” True. But here and there, various significant historical figures were indeed gay — and in basically every single case, their gayness had nothing to do with their achievements. Furthermore, these gay historical figures were in all different fields and in all parts of the world, so there is no unifying feature the teachers could point to.

So, for example, they hold up Michelangelo, Walt Whitman, and Alan Turing as example of famous gays. “Class, there was a famous Italian artist back around 1500 was was gay; and then, there was also this American poet dude about a century ago; and finally one of the guys that broke the Nazi code was also gay. Gay, I tell you!”

And the kids would all be scratching heir heads and saying, “What’s the connection between all these people? So?”

Thus, you see, no real lesson like this would work; so instead, the class will almost certainly focus on gay people whose “acheivements” were all connected — i.e. were related to gay rights. I suspect about half the lessons will be about Harvey Milk, and maybe then toss in a few lesbian tennis players.

The real purpose of the new law will be therefore to have mandatory teaching of the gay rights movement, under the guise of teaching about “the contributions of gays and lesbian” to culture.

30 years ago I heard Dr. Mary Calderone of SEICUS advocate this same thing on a local tv talk show. She said if schools taught children and teens how they could satisfy themselves with “mutual masturbation” it would cut down on teen pregnancies and STDs. We’ve have very similar curricula here for a long time. The parents are always the last to know.

  69. 69. Alec

And yet the Swiss, have dramatically low rates of STDs than we do, lower rates of teen pregnancies than we do, lower abortion rates than we do and their children wait longer to have intercourse for the first time. If talking to four year olds about sex reduces that still further, it’s something we should emulate instead of condemn.

    • Zombie

That has everything to do with wealth levels, and little or nothing to do with sex education:

Switzerland is one of the richest countries in the world by per capita gross domestic product, with a nominal per capita GDP of $75,835.[4] In 2010, Switzerland had the highest wealth per adult of any country in the world (with $372,692 for each person)…In 2005 the median household income in Switzerland was an estimated 95,000 CHF, the equivalent of roughly 100,000 USD (as of December 2010) in nominal terms.

The wealthier a community or nation, the lower the STD rate and teen pregnancy rate.

Compare Switzerland with those American households which make $100,000+ per year and have $372,000+ in the bank, and see what the differences are. I suspect that they will be at essentially equivalent levels regarding sexual behavior.

STDs, teen pregnancy and abortions are very closely correlated with poverty, not what kind of sex education people get.

Besides, no one is claiming that toddler sex instruction necessarily leads to more teen sexual activity. That may be the goal of the progressive educators, but I think the actual end result is that many of the kids are so traumatized by what’s forced on them that once they reach maturity they retreat into celibacy for as long as possible.

Switzerland is famous for being the most uptight, wealthiest, class conscious and repressed of all European nations. It makes sense that they have low teen sexual activity rates. And I think the progressive educators are trying to change that. This Sex Box thing started this year; you can’t credit the Sex Box for Switzerland’s historically low STD rate. Let’s revisit the place after 25 years of toddler sex ed and see what has happened.

  70. 70. Alec

    >That has everything to do with wealth levels, and little or nothing to do with sex education.

    Ummm…. no.

“….However, at all socioeconomic levels, American teenagers are less likely than their peers in the other study countries to use contraceptives and more likely to have a child. For example, U.S. teenagers in the highest income subgroup have birthrates that are 14% higher than similar teenagers in Great Britain and rates that are higher than the overall teen birthrates in Sweden and France.” Teen Pregnancy: Trends And Lessons Learned.

Europeans, including the “uptight” Swiss, have a completely different approach to teens, sex and sex education, namely that it isn’t a “problem” but a natural and normal part of life.

    > I think the actual end result is that many of the kids are so traumatized by what’s forced on them that once they reach maturity they retreat into celibacy for as long as possible….

And I think that when they reach maturity, they’ll like ice cream mixed with cream cheese. Your opinion and mine are equally valid.

    >Let’s revisit the place after 25 years of toddler sex ed and see what has happened.

Across all income levels, they’ll still have lower STI, abortion and serial partner rates than we will. That’s been the 50 year trend line and there’s no evidence this latest assault on your readership’s delicate sensibilities will do anything different.

    • Let us heartily congratulate the Swiss (and the other Europeans, of course) on their healthy attitude towards sex! How wonderful for them!!

To what extent would we attribute this success of theirs with their teens (lower teen pregnancy rate, later onset of sexual activity, etc.) to anything like the ‘sex box’ indoctrination, which is apparently a departure from what they’ve been doing all along?

Doesn’t it seem as though the “experts” want to add another dimension–namely, the sexual liberation of children–to their heretofore healthy attitudes?

Would we really think it conduces to the dignity of individuals to encourage them to satisfy their sexual urges publicly? That would seem to be what would go on in the kindergartens with the warm bags of sand. I wouldn’t want that for my little children. What they did on their own, untaught, unwitnessed, in private, would be their own business.

If that’s uptight or uncool of me, OK, I accept the label! (I can imagine worse.)

Switzerland? Ah yes, the country that refused to extradite Roman Polanski who was convicted of drugging and raping a 13-year-old. Now it all makes sense.

  72. 72. sggriffiths

All I can say is that MY 4-year-old, while he is interested in how his body works and what parts are different on girls and boys, has no interest whatsoever in sexual stimulation. He has a delightful innocence that I would like him to keep as long as possible. I would never send him to a school where they intend to rob him of his innocence in order to “protect” him. I’m his parent; it’s MY job to protect him, and I do. PArtly by keeping him away from people who want to initiate him into sexuality long before he’s ready for it!

    • Amen to that! Best of luck to you and your child. It’s upsetting to read about this stuff, but even worse to find out that it’s been happening without our knowledge.

who said, “….as if grooming the children to be sexual partners is good for the children themselves.”
    =========

Precisely. This *is* grooming children to consider sexual demands by teachers
    to be acceptable and normal.

    Consider:
Classroom setting. Teacher/Authority Figure. Kindergartners are instructed by the teacher to rub their genital area (or the private parts of someone else). They’re taught that “This feels good” and “This is normal” and “Teacher has the authority to make you do sexual things”.

So halfway through the school year, what if the principal or a different teacher or the school nurse comes upon a 5-year-old and asks the kid to “show me how well they’ve taught you to touch yourself”? Is the child really going to understand that this is situation he should say “No” to? Not likely.

This is evil and perverted; the parents of Basel should demand that Christoph Eymann focus on something other than their children’s genitals.

Everyone should stop having such a moral panic about the situation and start being a bit rational. Especially Zombie, because you are a propagandist and fear monger if ever I came across one. It’s not constructive, so stop it. Yes teaching this much detail about sex to four year olds is something to be concerned about, especially if it’s done by strangers. But we do live in a highly sexualised society and that is something to consider when it comes to children.
