North Dakota is on Fire

In a good way. See that blaze of light in the red circle? It didn’t exist just a few years ago. But what looks like a new city is actually hundreds of oil rigs, in a massive explosion of activity and wealth in ND.

Jonathon Seidl has all the details.

look down at Texas…see the crescent shape under the light bolo for Austin and San Antonio? Shale Gas wells. Think what we could do if we had a gov’t that was in support of this stuff…
In ND, in TX, a few points of light in the Gulf of Mexico…apparently the color of money is neither green nor brown but orange-red.
According to the article they are flaring something like 1/3 of the natgas produced from these wells. Current NG prices make it a net loser to capture all that gas and sell it. If export curbs are lifted then NG prices will rise in the US and that flared gas will be redirected toward productive use. Right now the glow you see is actually potential money going up in flames because of bad public policy. Literally.
