A Friendly Reminder
November 5th, 2012 - 6:10 am
A real Broken Glass Voter helps a straggling comrade over the line.
So what are you, personally, going to do to increase voter turnout tomorrow?
It’s not that I need you to vote. It’s that I need you to help that straggler over the line. Get to it.

I have been working for months to try and make sure that any family and friends that lean center/right, especially those in swing states, get out to the polls to vote Romney. While I don’t personally live in a swing state, I have donated money to the Romney Campaign and made calls. Most notably, back in January, I started my own blog for the sole purpose of seeing Obama defeated tomorrow. beatbarack.blogspot.com
Eeryone needs to work to get the vote out tomorrow. The stakes are just too high to lose. As a late great man once said, “If you’re not in that bunker . . . more than shame on you! You’re on the other side!” WAR#
We are in a pickle on that. Half of our family/friends are BGVs. The other half we’d prefer forgot to vote altogether. (We have informed those the election is on the 4th every chance we get.)
So, I’m finishing stuff to post on PJM, including exposing y’all to my horrible accent, while #2 son finishes work for school, and then we’re going to go to the Victory center and drag stragglers WE DON’T KNOW over the finish line.
Oh, yeah, and — coff — for the first time in my adult life, we have political signs on our yard. Other than meaning neighbors will never talk to us again might not do much, but who knows?
By the 4th I meant Wednesday. I haven’t had enough coffee and in my original language (Portuguese) Quarta Feira (fourth fair) is Wednesday. IF I HAD told them the 4th, it would be the fourth of December…
because i fear massive turnout with subsequent traffic jams and temper flare ups, i am telling romney voters to vote tuesday, obama voters to vote wednesday and third party voters that thursday is their day.
In my circle, my wife and I are the stragglers. We live in a county of over 100,000 that offers only one place to vote early, and anyway we just prefer to vote on Election Day. But most everyone we know did vote early.
I knocked on over 200 doors in Lakewood & Arvada. Today, will make calls in Denver 5th District.
My comrades who straggle will be voting for Obama, so I will do nothing to help them get to the polls. But it won’t matter–I don’t vote in a swing state (and no longer live in any state).
I’ve personally helped to change two votes directly, and indirectly (more like reinforcement) for a third. I’ve also got the chance to influence two others, which, if I get the chance, I ‘ll finish working on today.
Folks, remember the 2012 Presidential election schedule:
Republicans vote on Tuesday, November 6.
Democrats vote of Wednesday, November 7.
This has been a public service message by and for the American people.
Wrote postcards for the Repub mayoral candidate, gave two Romney bumperstickers to the guy who lives on the corner and wants people to see his truck, and tried like hell to change some minds in the ‘hood (to no avail, I fear; single-issue voters will vote on single issues).
I birthed daughters 18 and 19 years ago, raised them right, got them registered to vote, then threaten them with their college tuition to vote for Romney.
On my way out, I run into a buddy, he’s thinking about not voting. Nope, I turn him right around and say, the line isn’t that long (and I had my 18 month old with me).
I ask if he has his sample ballot ready?
He gives me a look, I pull out mine and hand it to him.
Awesome.
