That’s the Fat Lady Clearing Her Throat
Here’s A.B. Stoddard on “Santorum’s lost message” and what went wrong:
Combined with his push for fewer business regulations and less taxation, Santorum’s message on ObamaCare was all he needed to win over enough Romney voters to close the gap and beat him. It was the key to his appeal to independent voters, and to those voters focused more on the economy than the social issues Santorum has built a reputation championing.
But he strayed, and lost Ohio by 1 percentage point. Then he strayed again, decrying the dangers of porn, claiming the Obama administration “seems to favor pornographers over children and families” because it has “refused to enforce obscenity laws.” So this week he lost Illinois by more than 11 points. He won’t recover.
I hate to say I told you so, but…

Santorums flaw is that he is a Senator. Senators talk…And talk and talk and talk some more. You can ask a Senator anything, no matter how arcane and silly and they will give you 30 minutes of talk, as easy as getting a can of coke out of vending machine.
Ask Santorum for an opinion on which was a more important car, the Model T or the Peugot Type 19, and he will give you an opinion. No one cares one way or the other and he has no idea what he is talking about one way or another but his jaw will flap up and down for a half hour like a Girls School sewing machine adjusting hemlines right before prom night.
For the the best moment of contrast between Santorum and Romney could be seen when during the Stephanopolous Contraception setup. Romney waved George off telling him that it was a non-issue, which it clearly was to everyone, well almost everyone.Santorum just couldnt resist the opportunity to share his ideas and sure enough, off he went talking all the way, certain that the audience just loved the sound of his voice as much as he did.
No Senator can ever resist the opportunity to talk. Right wing Senators cant resist talking about societal morals and Left wing Senators cant resist talking about Right Wing Senators.
I was never a fan, but I’m pretty sure Santurom reached the point of no return when he said that Obama would be preferable to Romney. If that isn’t the final nail in his campaign’s coffin, I don’t know what is.
Anybody but Obama.
We currently have a national scold in the White House. I don’t see why we should replace one with another. At this point I’d prefer Newt to Rick.
And the difference between Romney and Obama is what?
(Crickets chirping)
I’m either going to vote Constitutionalist or Libertarian at the top of the ticket. Further down, I’ll see if anyone is worth it. Or see who Pat Buchanan thinks is best, other than for the Romney.
That’s absurd.
