Back Off, Pal
Does Rick Santorum have a “libertarian problem?” You bet he does:
Polls of Republican voters almost always lump conservatives and libertarians together, making it difficult to gauge the number of libertarians in the party.
Clearly, though, there is a sizable and growing portion of the Republican Party that identifies with libertarianism’s more free-market philosophy. Libertarianism, which Ronald Reagan called the “very heart and soul of conservatism,” is particularly popular among young people.
And then:
It is not just Santorum’s voting record that frightens libertarians; it is his outward hostility to the libertarian movement. On one occasion Santorum stated, “I am not a libertarian, and I fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican Party and the conservative movement.” On another occasion, speaking on the ascendancy of the tea party, Santorum declared, “I’ve got some real concerns about this movement within the Republican Party and the tea party movement to sort of refashion conservatism, and I will vocally and publicly oppose it.”
We didn’t pick this fight with Santorum. He came looking for one.

I agree, but only to the point where it would be down to him vs. Mittens.
Then I’m a Santorum guy all the way.
Yes, I think it’s that important to reject Mitt Romney.
For now, GO NEWT!!
Rick Santorum (also known in Libertarian circles as Genital Ben), has no real use for the Tea Party.
They want small government, less Workers Party thuggery, eradication of pork/earmarks.
These are not on the menu at Rick’s Cafe Americain.
On the road to the Casa Blanca, Rick is shocked…shocked…that there is gambling going on in this establishment.
Electing the official vice schoolmarm is a great idea, if only we can get 35 states to completely reverse field and go for the big government/little liberties concept, this election is in the bag.
Rickless also wants government in the bedroom. Can’t find the exact quote at the moment, but he used the word “bedroom”, not simply “marriage.”
The only thing Santorum has in his favor is being not-Obama. Mittens, I don’t like, but he does tend to go along with prevailing conventional political wisdom. And yes, we ca deride him for being a political weather vane and having no core values. But that may be a good thing. If we can get a more conservative/libertarian Tea Party Congress, Mittens might tack in that direction.
Mittens isn’t even sufficiently not-Obama. Yawn-inducing federalism arguments aside, his record is creating the first individual mandate for health insurance.
I’m still pulling for the meteor to wipe them all out. Or a brokered convention.
let me see,
romney-not perfect
newt-not perfect
santorum-not perfect
paul-not perfect
i guess we should support obama? early on my hope was for a john bolton/ allen west ticket. failing in that i vote ABO. anybody but obama.
I will definitely pull the lever for whoever’s running against Obama, even if it is an empty cardboard box. That includes Santorum, though he definitely will make me wish the box stayed in the race.
Having Santorum be the nominee would bring a whole new definition to the term “Rickrolled”…
