You Mean Ezra Klein Isn’t Still in School?

Red State takes Ezra Klein to school for failing to understand what a Ponzi scheme is. I read the whole thing — and Klein’s column, too — and came away shocked that WaPo could print something so facile.
The “Policy Wonk” needs a little more real-world seasoning before he embarrasses himself again.

As far as I can tell, Ezra Klein is a pretty generic liberal idiot. How, exactly, did he achieve so much success at such a young age?
It’s nit because he believes all the right things. I meet 10 people before breakfast who believe all the right things and haven’t had anything like his success.
Considering this and some of the other really stupid crap Klein has said (the Constitution is really OLD) one has to conclude that the WaPo is now simply beyond embarassment. What’s more unbelieveable is that people continue to pay money to read the damn thing, assuming that they actually do read it.
Is it possible Ezra bought WaPo for a dollar, and unlike Newsweek we never heard about it?
OK, not to blow my own horn here, but if you check Pandagon archives back in 2003 or 2004, I got into an argument there. I predicted Ezra Klein would become a famous writer and journalist. How did I know?
Well, for one thing, I am a professional writer. (Pat, pat my own back.) Anyway, Ezra Klein, even at age 19, had an authoritative but not pedantic tone to his writing. At age 19, he seemed far older than he was. I figured if he’s already writing this believably at 19, he will be a famous writer in a few years.
I also saw that he was a liberal idiot and would do a lot of damage. I felt sorry for him … because he was going to say in public and be identified with all the stupid shit many people think and say in their 20s, and not have the reality check the rest of us get by 30. He’s being rewarded for his stupidity; he’ll be Thomas Friedman by his 40s. And Friedman is of course a joke, but a successful joke.
