How low can you go? In his latest Newsweek column, Howard Fineman uses the phrase, “Tea Partiers and their fellow travelers.” Fellow travelers? That’s the phrase used in this country back in the ’40s and ’50s for American followers of the totalitarian Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
If Fineman sees no difference between the the Hammer & Sickle and the Gadsden flag, then he’s well and truly gone off the deep end.
Or he’s just another WaPo hack.

I’m sure Howard means the two hundred million Americans who have never been to a Tea Party event but agree wholeheartedly with Tea Party sentiments. Secretly Howard loves the Constitution and mainstream America. When he says something bizarre, remember he just needs to keep his job in the ruling class media. Unemployment is a growing threat to hacks everywhere.
There are very few in the MSM with any credibility left whatsoever. It’s like newsrooms in America are the psych ward where AJ Soprano spent a few of the last episodes–bunch of weak and whiny malcontent misfits.
Howard Fineman hasn’t had an original thought since his last bowel
movement. Howard………..with you…..”Don’t Tread on Me” takes on
a whole different meaning.
I pick option number B.
Hack may be too kind.
Look. Not to get all Olberman on you but if you’re still working at “Wa-Poo” is there any other type of “journo-list” you could possibly be? It’s a fairly indefensible job to have if you claim to be a reasonable human being and true to your “profession”.
This isn’t the first time a member of the MSM re-purposed a Cold War-era phrase and re-aimed it rightward: Frank Rich’s column last October regarding the conservatives who supported Doug Hoffman over RINO Dede Scozzafava was titled as “The G.O.P. Stalinists Invade Upstate New York,” which may actually be one of the few times a Timesman has referred to anything connected with Stalin as a pejorative.
Odeth, actually, Howard does occasionally have a flash of insight. Note how Cassandra-like he was regarding the fate of the MSM at the conclusion of the 2004 election — of course, unlike Cassandra, while predictably, no one in the MSM heeded Fineman’s warnings, he of course quickly forgot his own advice as well.
