Always the Last to Know
While getting wired in to tape Trifecta this afternoon, I quite accidentally discovered that PJTV now plays on your iPhone or iPad. And the video quality is razor sharp. Scary good, considering my end is a maze of wires and pieces of complicated equipment I set up myself while getting instructions via cell phone from near-strangers in Los Angeles.
Oh, and solid set of segments today. Scott Ott took on Bill Clinton’s latest rattled ramblings, Bill Whittle explored the nice side of socialism (hint: it sucks, too), and I got to do Earth Day. I think they start going live later today, so stay tuned for linkage.

I’ll only be happy when PJTV plays on my PS3 OS — I use it for WiFi hook-up to my astounding new 70″ Sony flatscreen. Don’t you want to be seen by people who use PS3 OS for WiFi on their giant flatscreens??? iPhone — that’s just no big deal!
Even as a non-PS3 guy, I have to admit that’s a pretty sweet setup.
But so long as your PS3 has a reasonably modern browser, PJTV should work just fine.
Now, Apple zombies are typically Progressives, and PJTV has been right of center.
Pure business, or seismic shift?
Smitty –
I think it’s a technical issue. The issue being, that Flash sucks sweaty donkey balls.
And I’ve being saying that LONG before Steve Jobs went public with his anti-Flash crusade. The only crashes — THE ONLY CRASHES — my Mac Pro workstation has suffered, every single one of them — EVERY SINGLE ONE — was because of stupid Flash code.
Every single one.
iPad I can see, but what’s the point of “crystal clear” viewing on a fracking iPhone? You’re looking at, what, a 2×3 inch screen? My 35-pound Compaq Portable had a bigger screen than that 35 years ago. On the other hand, I’ll admit it ran at a whopping 4.77Mz, had 256Kb RAM, and cost $2,700, but why quibble about details.
Then again, I never saw the point of watching movies on the iPhone, either, but that also seems quite popular.
Waitaminute; PS3 has a browser!?
Steve,
Thank you for the update!
I sent in a trouble ticket email a while ago about this very issue. The video looks beautiful. Hopefully there’s a way to get the same video on PC’s. My connection is often sporadic and the FlowPlayer doesn’t do read ahead caching at all on my systems.
iPhone reasons for use:
portability. Now I can watch trifecta anywhere, any time I have a few minutes down.
Sharing: I can just show folks i’m talking to what PJTV is, rather than giving them a URL and hoping they remember to go sometime
driving: I can have the video running in my pocket and listen to trifecta on my short commute. (hair of the dog is too visual, week in blogs would be suicidal)
love your stuff. Thanks very much for the heads up!
