But what about Roadhouse, arguably the best movie ever made by man or beast? (Leaving aside bikini girls reading Star Wars.)
RIP

To me, Swayze was most memorable as the bank robbing zen surfer Bodhi in Point Break, the lead in one of the most innovative, novel, and memorable chase scenes in action movie history; every bit as legendary as Steve McQueen’s in Bullitt.
Number two was his straight man bit to Farley in the Chippendales bit, perhaps the funniest skit in SNL history.
Vaya con Dios, brah.
Hope everyone got to see his A & E performances in “The Beast.” Possibly the best thing he ever did – a rough, gritty character who you were never sure was good or bad, but go the job done. Glad I have all episodes on the DVR. I hope they will have reruns of it now that he is gone. He fought a brave battle and my thoughts are with his family
A true “class act”. He will be missed.
Not without flaws, though, specifically that they managed to make Kelly Lynch look flat-chested.
More seriously, Anna David has a nice recollection of Swayze. http://www.annadavid.com/annalytical/uncategorized/patrick-swayze/
Sam Elliot was not in Red Dawn. Therefore, Roadhouse > Red Dawn.
Of course, The Big Lebowski included Sam Elliot and a character based on John Milius, who wrote Red Dawn (and is a BMF besides), so The Big Lebowski > Roadhouse > Red Dawn.
Plus, Roadhouse introduced me to Jeff Healey, an excellent blues/rock guitarist.
While I admire The Dude, The Big Lebowski didn’t include any great guitarists, so Roadhouse > The Big Lebowski.
He was in some iconic movies.
I do have to comment though…
I’m not gonna argue Red Dawn v Road House, but I will not see Pickle Surprise slighted!
I mean, sure bikini girls reading Star Wars is good and all, but really, Pickle Surprise!?!?!?!
No slight to Swayze. No slight to Jeff Healey either (whose passing merited not even a blip on the mainstream media — shame on them). Big Lebowski kicks Roadhouse’s ass.
And Crazy Frog has Pickle Surprise for lunch.
And if we’re going to have bikini girls reading something, it oughta be something like … uh, nevermind.
“And Crazy Frog has Pickle Surprise for lunch.”
Must… Resist…
