Rule Five Sunday — Alien Edition

August 30, 2009 - 4:20 pm - by Stephen Green

Last night I learned that while it might not be wise to cue up Alien at midnight with all the lights off, doesn’t mean you won’t be entertained. Here’s one reason.

Weaver One

Here’s another reason.
Weaver Two

And one final reason.
Weaver Three

Aren’t you glad I didn’t watch something with Dennis Weaver?

    But, but…I am the Keymaster!

Even after 30 years, I think Alien is one of the best Sci-Fi horror flicks ever made, and up there with the best films overall. Should I ever have the money to plonk down for Blu-Ray, it’ll be on my list of movies to acquire, and not just for the final scenes in the escape vessel.

If you’re a Weaver fan, and haven’t seen it, check out “Death and the Maiden”.

Don’t be in too big a rush. Neither Alien not Aliens is out on Blu-Ray yet. There aren’t even release dates for them.

  4. Weird as it seems, I was never a big fan of Sigourney Weaver.

You know who was hot, though? Anne Archer. Remember Fatal Attraction? Every dude in the theatre was like, “Dude. Glenn Close? You’re going to cheat on Anne Archer with Glenn Freaking Close? Talk about casting that pushes it beyond the point of ‘willing suspension of disbelief’ . . .”

  5. No arguments on the vital Archer vs Close issue. Saw Fatal Attraction once, when it first came out on tape — and that was enough of that nonsense.

But no to Sigourney? Dude, are you high?

  6. 1986′s Half Moon Street, where she can be seen topless A) in a bathtub and B) riding and exercise bike. Over the years, I’ve completely forgotten the plot of the movie, but those two scenes are in the high cache area of my memory banks. I think Michael Caine is in it too, but I cant remember why.

While I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Ghostbusters, Heartbreakers also comes to mind.

Hey, Any woman who appear in the same scene as Jennifer Love Hewitt and look better is a goddess…

Weaver (Sig, not Dennis) works for me. I think that like most guys I am decidely low maintanance when it comes to women.

But I am with McCain on this one vis-a-vis Anne Archer. Seen most often in the endless cable viewings as “the other Doctor Ryan” in both “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger”. Even in those decidedly supporting roles there is something compelling about her. Has that MILF thing going big time, I guess.

I think the only movie shown more on cable than CaPD might be “When Harry Met Sally.”

    Might.

“Danger” was good the first, oh, thousand times it was on TBS. After that? Time to slit my wrists. I swear, a couple of years ago, it was on two different stations at the same time, and then on a third later that day. WTF?

Nukem, you know why Clear and Present Danger is the Establishment Media’s favorite Tom Clancy movie EVAH!
