Notice and Other Useless Stuff

What, no blogging? Not quite — I just got distracted by a little project. I’m picking out the best cover tunes I can find. Why? Because most of them suck, so it’s fun to find the gems.
Be back in a bit.

Do you listen to Coverville? Http://www.coverville.com
You should.
Start with All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix and Hurt by Johnny Cash – they’re the two most obvious good ones. I’m also a fan of Lovers in a Dangerous Time by the Barenaked Ladies, Enjoy the Silence by Lacuna Coil, Derek and the Dominoes’ version of Little Wing, When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin, and No Quarter by Tool. YMMV, but that’s my two cents.
I’m saving All Along the Watchtower for its own post. Why wait? Because I don’t yet own a copy of the newest new version from Battlestar Galactica last season.
It’s (almost) up there with Jimi’s cover.
However, Sting’s version of “Little WIng” did make the cut.
Love SRV’s version of Little Wing.
Foo Fighters do incredible covers. Have A Cigar being my fave of the Foo.
Recently listened to Leningrad Cowboys schtuph.
Good lord they are great live with the Red Army Choir covering Sweet Home Alabama, Knocking On Heavens Door, Stairway to heaven, Those Were The Days, Delilah. . .
You Tube them. it is worth the time.
JC did great covers of those rock tunes too. Rusty Cage and Hurt are my preferred ones, though Personal Jesus was damn good too. . . but then, it WAS Johnny Cash. Not like it was gonna be horrid.
On a side note, One Week Til New BSG!
I think I just peed myself a little.
