Another EU Victory

This can’t be good:
VIENNA, Austria (CNN) — Iran has broken the seals on equipment at an atomic processing facility amid Western fears Tehran could use its technology to build a nuclear bomb.
The fact that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) seals had been in place until Wednesday indicates the equipment at the nuclear plant had not been used up to now.
Removal of the seals means the uranium conversion plant is now capable of being fully operational, a state-run news agency reported.
Now what?

(roar of jets)
(long, high-to-low whistling sound)
(ka-boom)
But, as the President of the IEAE has said, the “process” is intact. Just another bureaucrat edifying the “proces” over the results. Just means “my job is safe”.
I cannot spell process?
Sorry.
Pickle. Boom.
This news underlines why my approval of the job Bush is doing has gone down. I voted for him specifically because I wanted someone who would aggressively pursue an anti-mullah strategy in Iran. Maybe he is. Obviously I know nothing about covert activity, and we hear hints that special forces are already operating in Iran. I guess we will see.
I agree with VDH: “Faster Please”.

I think we’ll see some military action against Iran soon. Besides this little episode, Rumsfeld announced that the US has found weapons in Iraq that were made in and shipped from Iran. I think they’re preparing us for something.
RE: military action in Iran soon.
Maybe. But we have known for a couple years now that Iranian intelligence was supporting the insurgency in Iraq. They seem to play this stuff down and ignore it. Hell, even the 9/11 comission report that the bully boys who were the muslce for the teams who flew planes into our building transited Iran not long before 9/11 did not seem to phase anyone.
As dicsuseed in an earlier string, naval blockade and bombing seem the best bet to confront Iran militarily, but if we do that, Iran is going to go apesh*t and start lobbing missiles into Saudi oil fields.

Oh, it
Now what?
Once it has been determined that Iran is indeed processing nuclear matrial for making weapons, we really have no choice.
Airstrikes, followed by limited ground incursions. Troops on the ground long enough to destroy what any airstrikes can’t, then out.
Then final airstrikes once more.
The will be caterwaulling from all the usual suspects on the America hating left. There will be demonstrations and it will all be America’s fault. As everything bad already is.
Just like there was after Israel destroyed Saddam’s reactors in 1980. But the howling finally subsided and it was acknowledged by those who haven’t drunk the leftist koolaid, that it had been necessary to destroy Saddam’s nuclear capability and the world was better off for it.
If afterwards, the Iranians mass troops on the border of Iraq and invade, well we can effectively deal with that from the air too.
What we will not be able to deal with, without mass casualties, is a nuclear armed Iran. The ‘Islamic bomb’ in the hands of fanatics who want to hurt or destroy us, or who will furnish the means to others who want to hurt us badly or destroy us.
We can be sure that, if, no when, we are attacked, the Europeans will shed crocodile tears of sympathy, as they did on 9/11. We can be sure that there will be dancing in the streets of many middle-eastern cities as there was on 9/11. And we can be most sure that in such a situation, if we do not act to save ourselves, we have acted in the furtherance of our own destruction.
If 9/11 proved anything,it proved that doing nothing isnt “the safe play”; very often “doing nothing” is what gets us killed.
If we do nothing, we dont just empower Iran, we empower every other tin horn dictatorship to spend every dime so they can get to the ‘nuclear safe zone’. The belief will be that once you go nuclear the Americans must talk to you. If we allow this to be the standrd we guarantee hundreds of other states with nuclear weapons. You might be prepared for a nuclear Iran, but are you preapred for a nuclear Venezuela, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Saudi Royal Family? I dont even want these guys in the Admirals Club at JFK much less sitting across the negotiating table saying “we got nukes – give us 5 billion dollars -or else”.
We pushed Iran over once before with a little help from our friends in the CIA. I would think with the help of 70,000 Persian expats we could do a pretty good job of throwing them off balance. We must end this menace, quickly. For our sake and for the sake of the Iranian people who if we do nothing will be condemned for another generation to live under the rule of the mullahs. We cannot allow another generation to live in the taliban-lite nightmare that comes from Terhan, not just for their sake, but because by allowing it we condemn ourselves and their neighbors to eventual all out nuclear warfare.
I’ve said it before, our only choice here is fighting them when they have the bomb or fighting them before they have the bomb, you only have to decide which of those scenarios have odds that favor our success.
Iran – like Nazi germany – has no moral order which will keep them from using the bomb. If we let them get the bomb, they will use the bomb. They will use it on us.
Unlike Pakistan which has the deterrent of Nuclear India, Iran has no opposing nuclear force on its border. As far as “Israel as an opposing force”, Iran welcomes a war with Israel, they are not deterred by the idea of a war with Israel, its their actual goal.
Action in Iran is going to happen, one way or the other.
Hey, doomsayers, Since when do we believe what the media have to say. Take it easy and wait to see what develops.
Take it easy and wait to see what develops.
Rad dosage film badges, for example.
“I’ve said it before, our only choice here is fighting them when they have the bomb or fighting them before they have the bomb, you only have to decide which of those scenarios have odds that favor our success.”
Truer words were never spoken.
Bush says that allowing to Iran aquire a nuke is not an option. So far he’s been true to his word, but on the other hand there doesn’t seem to be much evidence that we’re preparing to enforce that policy. It’s possible that preparations for the inevitable military operation are being carried out covertly and the administration is waiting for the opportune moment to act.
I guess we’ll find out sooner or later.
nothing. we can do very little. they know it; we know it. Exception: Covert ops, which are almost certainly underway in some fashion.
I don’t like it, but there it is.
The Islamofascist enemy is treating Iraq like Stalingrad, and we’re treating it like, well, Iraq.
I’m just reminded of Aliens for some reason; I’m sure you all can figure out which ones are the EU, the UN, and us):
“Well that’s great, that’s just fuckin’ great man. Now what the fuck are we supposed to do? We’re in some real pretty shit now man… That’s it man, game over man, game over! What the fuck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?”
“Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don’t we try that?”
“I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”
“Err, Stop! Or we’ll say stop again!”
– The U.N.
“Now what?”
A ‘strongly worded letter’ followed by an appology for the UN’s insensitivity for not fully appreciating their victim status vis-a-vis the crimes of the Great Satan (and we all know who he is). And I’m pretty sure we’ve just prostrated ourselves before one of the 1979 Iranian hostage takers and allowed him to enter the country so he can make exactly that point.
This is why I’ve advocated support for the Iranian opposition. The only ones who destroy the Mullahs are the Iranians. It may be too late but it’s still our best option. Give them guns, give them money and stand by to support the revolution.
