Don’t think I’ll do any blogging tonight. My best friend’s sister was in a horrible accident, and things looked grim. Grim Reaper grim. We just now found out that she’s not going to die, and that she didn’t suffer any brain damage. Broken bones, scrapes, whatever – all that she can recover from. Important thing is, she’s going to live, and as a full human being.
It’s hard to gripe about the news, after hearing news like that.

damn…. that sucks. good luck to her, and it’s good to hear it’s survivable. i don’t pray, but I’ll offer up a small bit of hope for her from my small nick in the blogosphere.
as long as there is life there is hope Stephen…
best wishes to your fallen friend.
Glad to hear the reaper will have to look elsewhere.
won’t do any blogging tonight is a lousy way to start a blog post. i hope your bf’s sis recovers fully.
Best wishes for a full recovery for her, Stephen.
Yes – we’re pulling for a full recovery. Glad Grim was called off on this one.
Sorry to hear about her accident, but I’m glad that she’s going to make a recovery. I hope and pray that her recovery is fast and complete.
I know what you’re saying when life hits you in the face sometimes and reminds you about what is important. A friend of mine is battling cancer, and the visiting nurse was helping him with his chemo. He asked his nurse about her other patients. It turns out that he’s just about her only grown patient: all the rest are kids. Many of them aren’t going to make it.
My friend is doing OK, but it’s tough. After hearing about her other patients he said to me, “I’ve got no complaints.”
(I think I’ll give him a call today.)
Take care.
Glad to hear she’s gonna recover Steve.
Things like this always help put everything else in perspective, don’t they? I’m very glad to know it’s looking less grim than it did at first.
It’s things like this that make you realize that, on balance, you don’t have anything REALLY worth complaining about. I’ll keep her in my prayers. Best of luck to her.
Memo to the Almighty
Today’s gonna be a shit day. I can just tell. “I can smell it. It’s like a sixth sense,” goes the setup. “No, that would be one of the five,” goes the punchline. Laughter and scattered polite applause.
First came the unexpected r…
Sorry about the news. May God be with her and give her a swift and full recovery. I guess we’ll let that blog slide… but after get back on the horse.
Amen!!!
My cousin was through an accident like that – her car was T-boned on the A1 some years ago, and for two days we thought she was dead. Today she barely remembers the crash.
My wife got smacked by a car as a pedestrian a little over two years ago. She had a head injury, broken sholder blade, 3 broken ribs, a broken tailbone, a broken pelvis and two broken legs.
The good news is that she’s Scottish and landed on her head. That’s why she survived.
I’ll drink to the good news.
Speaking of which, we need a blogbash.
Sending good thoughts her way.
My thoughts and prayers are with your friend’s sister as she fights for life. Sending much positive energy her way. I have so long enjoyed your blog and am glad to offer some time on the knees for all the sanity you were to me during the last election. I’ll never forget my favorite post of yours during the debates re. Kerry (“I hate him. I just freakin’ hate him.”) I laugh still every time I think of how perfect that was.
Praise God that she will be okay!
I’m glad she’s going to live and be ok. There’s a lot to be thankful for.
Our best wishes for a rapid & full recovery.
Events like that tend to really put things in focus.
thoughts and prayers are with y’all.
Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to hear that she’ll recover. Good thing these guys were on strike at the time!
Chin up, Steve!
Sounds fabulous.
But you should have left off the last 6 words of the final sentence in the first paragraph.
Sorry to hear about your friend, I was thinking about you and just thought I’d drop by and say hi!
Good to see all things are going well for you and M!

I’ve heard that when we pray 4 others it is more likely that our petitions will be heard
Y’all got your organ donor cards signed and have told your families what to do if you’re ever in that condition haven’t you? It happened to my son, parts of him are in 23 other people, each very thankful for his gift.
Damn Steve… I’m praying for her…
