Bush Probably Won Wisconsin In 2000
Gore won the state of Wisconsin by 5708 votes. and the city of Milwaukee by 21 points, or 71%. That year 7,153 same day Milwaukee registrants could not be verified. 71% of those is 5150 votes. This whittles Gore’s lead to 558, leaving the unverified same day registrants in heavy Democrat Dane and Racine Counties to subtract. There certainly would’ve been more than 558.
It’s also possible the Gore percentage of unverifieds in Milwaukee was higher than 71%, in the same way provisionals in urban Ohio went for Kerry at a higher percentages than the regular vote. So, weeding out Milwaukee alone may have handed the state to Bush.
