G’night
July 17th, 2003 - 12:10 am
There’s something about a fine dinner, a bottle of wine, and cuddling up on the sofa with your honey and Ken Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing that really takes away one’s will to blog.
But in the morning I can promise you a follow-up to this week’s look at the failing Gephardt and Lieberman campaigns, with an analysis of how Howard Dean might prove to be his own undoing.
Until then — hey, nonny nonny.

… another otherwise great movie nearly destroyed by Keanu Reeves!
Excellent movie…and at least he wasn’t in it much:)
Did you see A Midsummer Night’s Dream? Another exellent one…
Branaugh is nothing short of remarkable…
He’s even amazing as a professor of magic:)
There truly is nothing like a bottle of wine and Much Ado with the litlle woman. I do get a bit teary during the Michael Keaton interrogation scene, though.
I found myself, much to my surprise, becoming a Shakespeare fan in college, thanks to a very fine professor. I tend to check out each Shakespeare movie that comes out. For instance, Mel Gibson’s Hamlet was actually not too bad. Branaugh, tho was made to do Shakespear. Henry V was wonderful. And of course, in Much Ado About Nothing, Emma Thompson was perfect. That helps.
To think. 400 years and still relevant.
UnF***ing believable.
Keaton as Dogwood always cracks m’arse up.
“God save the foundation!”
What do y’all think about Titus Andronicus (with Anthony Hopkins)?
Julie Taymor’s “Titus” might just be my favorite Shakespeare film ever, with the possible exception of Polanski’s version of Macbeth.
And to think Titus Andronicus was such a lousy play.
Honestly, my absolute favorite Shakespearian play is Julius Caesar, my introduction to the world of The Bard was from a PBS showing of Branagh’s screen version of Much Ado (yes, amazing, isn’t it? I actually saw that before recieving a dumbed-down, force-fed version of Romeo and Juliet in high school).
Hmm… Didn’t know about Titus though– I’ll have to go looking for it.
