Light blogging today. Many errands to run, plus a quick drive up to Denver and back to pick up some cheap labor — namely, my “little brother” Adam to help with the yard work.
Now if only we could get him to work as cheap as I did twenty-mumble years ago.

I think the operative here is “get him to work”…..at any price. Good luck, Bro!
Via USS Clueless from Silent Running (it has an alcohol theme):
I attended the St. Barbara’s Ball last night. I know it is supposed to be held in Dec but this was a National Guard unit that was doing a partnership exercise with their German counterparts. If you have ever been to one, you’ll know that there is a punch mixing ceremony. The verbage that goes along with the ceremony can change…..

Notice that cognac is a traditional ingredient. But not last night. I want you to picture a room full of American Army personnel intermingled with Germans. As the speaker gets to the traditional Cognac ingredient he says “At this point, we typically add Cognac to the punch to symbolize our ties to France, but not this year.” I overheard several people around my table saying “We should have let you guys keep France.”
This is a significant shift in opinion. Usually, brothers in arms support each other because of our like mindset. For this to happen, even at the Reserve level says a lot about the damage France has inflicted upon itself.
