Hundreds Protest Obama's Visit To Roseburg, Oregon (Video)

Hundreds — not thousands — of people showed up to protest Barack Obama’s visit to Roseburg on Friday.

Angered and disgusted by the president’s blatant politicization of last week’s shooting at Umpqua Community College, nearly 8,000 people had indicated on the now defunct Facebook page “Defend Roseburg, Deny Barack Obama” that they would be attending the protest. Another 3,400 had said maybe.

The crowd of protesters, although substantially smaller in number than anticipated, made their point with signs like, “Go Golf!” and “Obama Go Home.”

After the president met privately with the grieving families of the the victims, he made a brief statement.

“There are gonna be moments as we go forward where we’re gonna have to come together and figure out how do we stop things like this from happening.” Obama said. “I’ve got very strong feelings about this because when you talk to the families you are reminded this could be your child … or your mom or your dad or your relative or your friend.”
