Ukraine says that a Russian armor column entered Ukraine territory Thursday night “under cover of darkness.”

Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian military, told a news briefing that Kiev’s forces had picked up a Russian military column crossing the border under cover of darkness.

“Appropriate actions were undertaken and a part of it no longer exists,” Lysenko said.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko briefed British Prime Minister David Cameron on the incident and told him a “significant” part of the Russian column had been destroyed, according to statement from Poroshenko’s office.

Britain summoned Russia’s ambassador to ask him to clarify reports of a military incursion into Ukraine.

Russia denies sending any of its forces into Ukraine.

At the same time, President Obama was on his way to out-golf Tiger Woods.

Since the Russians deny having any armour in Ukrainian territory, they can not complain when any armour is attacking in Ukrainian territory.

Those nukes were handed over as part of a contract. The UK and the US (and Russia) would defend Ukrainian terretorial integrity in exchange for Ukraine handing over its nukes.

Seeing as the US and the UK refuse to uphold their end of the bargain, it only seems fair that they should return the nukes to Ukraine. If those nukes no longer exist, they should be replaced.

The US and the UK did NOT offer a military guarantee to defend Ukrainian territory in exchange for giving up the nuclear weapons. Not even the Ukrainian government is claiming that.

The Russians better watch out or those mighty Ukraine troops will chase them all the way back to Moscow destroying 3/4 of Russia's military in the process. The Russians will soon be begging us to save them from the advancing Ukraine onslaught.

Call me a kook, but Vlad doesn't strike me as the type of person who will respond to the loss of part of one of his armored columns with a studied nonchalance and pleas for calm. *cough*Obama*cough*

This will not end well.

Well, if Russia didn't send in any forces, then obviously the tanks the Ukrainians destroyed had been stolen. The Russians should send Ukrainia a not of thanks for taking hot tanks out of circulation.

Well, the southern pipe line from Russia through Bulgaria is canceled, although the northern pipe line is still running. That pipe line flow from Libya that services Europe's soft underbelly is problematic after the Libyan coup, I mean Arab Spring. Russia just signed an energy deal with China. I wonder where Ukraine's coup government plans on getting their winter fuel from? I know Al Gore and company predicted the end of snow in Europe as we know it, but that doesn't seem to have panned out. Looks like General Winter has some other ideas.

An administration built on spite...

Now they are flaunting the vacations and the golfing and the partying. He won't call off the vacation at this point out of spite.

It's passive-aggressive power trips...like being late to press conferences. The WashPo reports that Obama has been 35 hours late since the beginning of the year? A normal, decent person would sheepishly make an attempt at being more prompt in the future...out of shame. Not Obama, if anything, he's even more tardy...just to spite them.

It's the same with the vacations...it doesn't matter if Putin starts a land-war in Eastern Europe.

"Russia denies sending any of its forces into Ukraine."

Kudos to Ukraine for fully engaging the armor column. Russia still apparently feels the need to cloak their efforts while hoping to slowly win the war through infiltration and intimidation. Ukraine has decided not to allow that to happen.

It also points out, that for all the perceived weakness of NATO and U.S. resolve, Russia is still very wary of provoking the west to action.
