Ruh-roh.

Frustrated senators fumed that they have more questions than answers after listening to a detailed administration briefing on the trade of five Taliban leaders for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, with one going so far as to threaten impeachment if President Obama uses this as an opening to shutter Guantanamo.

“If [President Obama] just tried to empty that jail, people would be calling for his impeachment,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said.

Officials from the State Department, Pentagon and intelligence agencies briefed lawmakers late Wednesday in an attempt to ease the mounting criticism surrounding the deal to free Bergdahl, who was held in captivity by the Taliban for five years.

However, many said the briefing did little to quell their concerns, the most pressing of which is that the five traded Taliban leaders could return to the battlefield.

Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., said when asked if the officials thought the five released Gitmo prisoners would attack Americans, they said they did not know.

“But there will be hell to pay if we find they go on to kill Americans,” Kirk said.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said he left the briefing with more questions than answers. Republican Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss agreed.

“I don’t see how anybody can walk out of there with any kind of comfortable feeling that the administration from a notification standpoint, and I emphasize that, did what they should have done or what they had the opportunity to do. I mean, it was like they didn’t trust Dianne (Feinstein) and me,” he told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren on “On the Record.”

Even though prominent Democrats have been questioning this “deal”, the leftmedia is still trying to portray any misgivings about it as a right wing media (read: Fox News) partisan attack.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot today. Why would the administration and its press monkeys behave any differently. This formula has been working for almost six years. Just a week ago, the VA scandal was going to be the thing that finally got to them. Now they’ve done this to distract from that. As this continues to go off the rails, they’ll go out and screw something else up as a distraction.

There is no limit to the amount of incompetence in Team Lightbringer but there is also no end to the MSM devotion that will keep them covering for their beloved Idiot King.

This reminds me of the temporary pop gun "explosion" when the totalitarians were caught spying on the media.

The Siblings and Spouses didn't give a Tinker's Dam about spying on "the unrelated masses", but how could the Inbred Reds do this to them?!?!?!

Similarly, Democrats and their compact mirrors across the aisle don't really care about the lawless, reckless, totalitarian behavior of this administration. Not one teensy weensy little bit.

But the Empire didn't let the House of Lords harrumph away and posture and pontificate and play an "important role" in rubber stamping tyranny.

It is this slight that causes their umbrage...not the fact that liberty is being trampled, the Constitution is being gang raped and America is being overthrown in a coup.

Yeah, Graham is acting so Republican he's giving Obama a "pass" on the
first failure to give Congress 30 days notification. Because the SECOND
time it happens it's an impeachable offense, not the first. He sounds like
some soccer mom threatening a 10 minute time out. Those of us in SC
rarely hear from Graham until 5-6 months before an election. We DO
however remember him and BFF McCain wildly applauding Obama at
every point, promise and edict at the SOTU. (that's state of the union
for you low info voters)

Not all the MSM is going along with this...the NY Daily News ran an op-ed yesterday that was scathing and today Mike Lupica's article was damning as well. A crack in the wall?

Note to Team Obama: when your actions have emboldened even the GOP's reigning beta-senator, you've really messed up.

If they cared about that, we would be hearing about Filegate every day since the NSA scandal.

Exactly. It's that, once again, people who thought they were the elites, the "ruling class", got slapped down and put in their place by Barack the Sun King, and now they're butthurt. Eventually he'll have Susan Rice or Marie Harf or Jen Psaki or Samantha Power or Valerie Jarrett (ever notice that just like Qadaffi, Barack the Sun King has his own Amazon Brigade?) reassure them that everything's fine, and they'll all fall back in line.

Barack the Sun King, President Stompy Foot, just likes to let everyone know that there's only room for one at the top, and it's him.

Talking like a Republican while he draws a feather from his scabbard.

Just a clarification. Lindsey Graham is not "acting like a Republican". He is pretending to act like a Republican. We know from history that if the Democrats want/need his vote, he will be there. If the Republicans take the Senate, Lindsey Graham would switch parties if asked by Harry Reid.

Have to disagree with you here, Subotai. Lindsey Graham goes along with whoever gives him the best deal.

Assuming he somehow survived a "Tea Party Tsunami" - you would be surprised at how "ultra-conservative" he suddenly became.

What you describe is, of course, classic politician behavior. That's why I maintain that a few of them being obliterated in a primary will be much more effective at making the rest choose to toe the line than will withholding votes in the general; and, while the former may risk benefiting a Democrat, the latter is sure to.
