While he was out giving a “SQUIRREL!” speech about college

Canada bluntly told the United States on Thursday to settle the fate of TransCanada Corp’s proposed Keystone XL pipeline, saying the drawn-out process on whether to approve the northern leg of the project was taking too long.

The hard-line comments by Foreign Minister John Baird were the clearest sign yet that Canada’s Conservative government has lost patience over what it sees as U.S. foot-dragging.

Baird also conceded that Washington might veto the project, the first admission of its kind by a Canadian government minister.

The 1,200-mile (1,930-km) pipeline would carry 830,000 barrels a day from the Alberta tar sands in western Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast. Ottawa strongly backs Keystone XL, which it says would create jobs and provide a secure supply of oil to Canada’s closest ally and trading partner.

“The time for Keystone is now. I’ll go further – the time for a decision on Keystone is now, even if it’s not the right one. We can’t continue in this state of limbo,” Baird said in a speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Although the State Department is responsible for ruling whether the pipeline meets the national interest, President Barack Obama has made clear he will make the final decision.

As we are all painfully aware by now, Obama is only decisive when it comes to things that fit two criteria: 1) the taxpayers get fleeced, & 2) the program will be a monumental failure.

Keystone doesn’t line the pockets of any of Obama’s green-energy supporters who have been getting rich off of the American taxpayer while running companies that are — pun intended — unsustainable. So he’s not interested.

Oh, it also makes sense, another big negative for this clown-car administration.

The whole world was supposed to love us if Obama was elected president and he has somehow managed to piss off Canada.

Three more years.

This is the same Brian Harper than expelled all the Iranian diplomats from Canada last year. He's a tiger when it comes to dealing with Islam.

Obama is and has been obviously stonewalling on Keystone for the duration, trying to have it both ways.

Besides the ugly question of how and why a US president even has the power to stonewall such an endeavor, you might ask, technically, why should any guy who blatantly wants America's conventional energy costs to "necessarily skyrocket" & who has dumped millions in taxpayer cash into not ready for prime time green boondoggles even want energy security for the US of A ?

It's really funny when he takes credit for increased domestic oil production on his watch when said increased production has happened largely on private land DESPITE the federal government.

Sir Hew Strachan has a pretty good grasp of the character (or lack thereof) of the community organizer in chief.

I'd like to see TransCanada build the pipeline from up to the Montana/North Dakota area and put Bakken crude oil through it. Take some oil train revenue away from Warren Buffet and convert most of the effort to get approvals into pipeline in the ground. Maybe a Republican Senate can force approval for the border crossing leg in 2015.

Canada, and other countries, are pissed off by the US.

Why else is Egypt seeking to have Obama tried for war crimes, because he backs the Muslim Brotherhood?

Once it was realised that Barack Obama dithers over important decisions, Canada should have simply approached the Chinese. the Chinese would gladly have built the pipeline over the mountains, and all other production costs and shipping costs to get the oil. China needs energy sources, natural resources and commodities. The Chinese do not fart around about economic necessities. Oh, yes, all this would be paid for with the balance of trade surplus from the USA. How else are they paying for what they need? Meanwhile, Obama refuses to dump or get off the pot.

My hunch is that BHO is secretly delighted by this turn of events. He's been hoping that if he stalls long enough the Canucks would get frustrated and walk away from the pipeline deal. Major win for him as his enviro weenie supporters hate petroleum and everything associated with it, his bud Buffet continues to rake in the freight rail profits, and inflated gas prices continue to punish everyone uncaring enough to own and operate a motor vehicle.

FYI, Baird's gay. As Foreign Minister, he's been very vocal about the fate of gays and lesbians in the Middle East and Africa.

So, Obama's been torn a new one by a gay Canadian tory.

Neat, eh?

Well now that's smart.

When questioned closely, press, CAIR's head honcho (maybe former head honcho by now) refused to name either HAMAS or Hezbollah as terrorist organizations.

Let's not forget that Buffett is the one who prospers with the rail decision. Let's also not forget that we've just had two serious derailments in the last month.
