The governor of the state where A&E’s Duck Dynasty is filmed said the network was violating reality show star Phil Robertson’s rights when it suspended him for comments made to GQ.

Robertson told the magazine, “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

When the reporter asked what he believes is sinful, Robertson responded, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?” he also said.

Gov. Bobby Jindal, a potential 2016 contender, issued a statement this morning stressing “Phil Robertson and his family are great citizens of the State of Louisiana.”

“The politically correct crowd is tolerant of all viewpoints, except those they disagree with. I don’t agree with quite a bit of stuff I read in magazine interviews or see on TV,” Jindal said. “In fact, come to think of it, I find a good bit of it offensive.”

“But I also acknowledge that this is a free country and everyone is entitled to express their views. In fact, I remember when TV networks believed in the First Amendment. It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended.”

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” A&E said in a statement. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Production already wrapped, though, on season four of the show, which premieres Jan. 15.

“Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil’s lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe,” GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz said. “He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans — and Americans — who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil’s decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors, who now need to re-examine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families.”

The people at GLAAD are stupid if they actually care about their constituency. They have basically won, now is the time to take the high road. The statement should have been something like: "We find that many otherwise fine people hold these views due to an oversimplified view of the LBGT community, but clearly the momentum is with us. We hope that some of Phil Robertson's friends and family will share their experiences with the real people that his comments have hurt, and we look forward to enjoying the next season of Duck Dynasty."

There would be exactly zero support for him now. Thing is, like all such groups they are not about tolerance or even acceptance...they are about power. Naked bullying force.

Oh my! Phil stated his own personal beliefs in an interview where he was asked about his own personal beliefs. What was he thinking?!

A&E has the audacity to state that the Robertsons' beliefs are not reflected in the series? Uhm...has A&E actually watched their own series?

Please, A&E, kill your golden goose. You deserve it. Maybe you can go back to sharing late-night transponder space with Nickelodeon, broadcast interviews with off-Broadway producers, and recapture your original demographic. All ten of them.

Um Hah..It's time for the secular-leftists to finally come all the way out
Of the closet: declare the Bible, New and
Old Testaments, to be 'hate speech'. Maybe
Get Att. General Holder to begin revocation of
religious exemptions from all Judeo-Christian
Organizations. Maybe charge them all with
Being accessories to violating the civil rights
Of homosexuals. Yeah, that's the ticket. And
While they're at it how about the prez declaring
that henceforth only the Koran will be used
For 'swearing in' ceremonies ! What the heck,
Obama...why not go all out and declare America
An Islamic State? Hey, then declare the War
On Terrorism ( aka 'man made disasters') to
Be officially over. Ally Akbar, Hu, You'll be a big
historical hero. Yah, then go on Haj to Mecca
And seal the deal with a fat bow to your Saudi Imam.
C'mon Obama...You Know you wanna!

I find this 1st amendment argument rather strange as A&E isn't a government agency but rather part of that "free market". Robertson has not had any of his rights violated. He had a right to express his opinion without prosecution and he continues to enjoy that privilege.

A&E has a right to protect and or run their company as they see fit. Robertson still has his freedom of free speech. He just lost the privilege of having someone paying him for it.

That's correct, they are not censors, they are just stupid. We are fortunate to have free speech, but this also means that we deal with hate speech with a continuum of social consequences from public disagreement, to shaming to economic boycott. What everyone is reacting to is the left's constant jump to the social death sentence the second a social conservative speaks, while they are afforded endless liberty to defend and promote communist policies that (conservatively) killed 110 million people in the 20th century.

They can say you have to break eggs to make omelets when defending Mao and we're not supposed to say a word or it's "censorship" oh, and we also have to worship them because they are "brave" and are "speaking truth to power" when they support civil rights or some other totally settled issue.

Then some old redneck quotes the Bible and suddenly he can't be on TV anymore and a bunch of their "great legal minds" are asking why we can't have hate speech laws like Canada.

The really irritating thing is they are hurting their own cause. I support gay marriage and it was doing fine until these idiots mobilized an army of people who were willing to believe gays just wanted what we all have, but now think they want special status not to be criticized.

I have sent A&E an email telling them I am putting all their networks, which include A&E, bio, lifetime, LMN, etc. on 'indefinite suspension", too, until Phil Robertson comes back.

I cited first amendment reasons, as well as push back at PC bulllying.

If anyone is interested, their email is aefeedback@aenetworks.com.

Also, Truth Revolt (www.truthrevolt.com) has a petition up that says the same thing. It just popped up, and already it is getting lots of attention.

I don't agree with Phil's view of homosexuality (but, come on, he wasn't comparing it to bestiality -- it's a category of sins he was talking about) and I think the Biblical view is wrong, but A&E totally beclowned themselves over this. In a nation founded by people seeking religious liberty and free speech, a man cannot now freely speak about his religious beliefs? It's not a 1st amendment violation (which deals only with government repression of speech), but it's an attack on free speech in essence, and A&E should be ashamed of themselves.

Careful, a mention of the Bible was made...this, to Progressive New Left Activists is a no-no. See, can't talk about the Bible. Anybody see Joel Osteen's book signing? Plus...
This is an old tried and true mantra of Progressive New Left Activists,i.e., DIVIDE AND CONQUER! See, if they can have "fly over country" and "Appalacia" united into one basket, while holding onto "urbs" PNLA's game plan is intact. We The People are seeing the unfolding of 2014 and 2016 political campaigns. Racist monikers have been flying around all MSM for quite some time and seem to intensify (hissify) the closer USA gets to elections.... haven't We The People noticed this yet....it's in their play book. Wake-up America, We're being played like a fiddle at a hoe-down with 4H participants clogging. Damn! Pray. Amen. Join a Tea Party, urgently.

They aren't dividing and conquering anymore. I'm actually pretty offended by what he said, AND I watch the show because I like the family, but I'm giving the guy a pass because of the hysterical overreaction and the attack on free speech. Gay people should too. Minorities are far better protected by free speech and rule of law than by "special rights" that can go in the next change of administration.

I have heard comments from other celebrities and individuals that have appeared on A&E that were highly offensive. Did A&E suspend them from appearing on their network? Phil Robertson made his comments in an interview with a magazine that A&E has no interest in. The gay community demands tolerance yet they give none.

Typical liberal politically correct garbage designed to control what we say yet I have heard many, many liberals vocalize hatred and intolerance that makes what Phil Robertson said a joke.

Classic hypocrites from the left.
