CNN’s Chris Cuomo — son of former NY Gov. Mario Cuomo (Democrat) — had a heated interview with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz today. Cuomo tries lecturing Cruz on bipartisanship, only to have Cruz lay down some facts.

Cuomo begins by lecturing Cruz on what senators do. Cruz, an accomplished lawyer who has argued cases before the United States Supreme Court, doesn’t appreciate the Democrat talking down to him.

“You don’t think you have a responsibility as a U. S. senator to do better than [opposing Obamacare] in terms of offering a solution for what to do next?” Cuomo badgered Cruz.

Cruz fired back: “Well, I appreciate your trying to lecture me in the morning, thank you for that.”

Cuomo appeared to be trying to drag the Republicans into helping bail the Democrats out of the mess they alone have created with Obamacare.

Cruz did offer a solution, but not one that Cuomo is apt to like: “The way to fix that is to stop this broken law. It was broken at the outset, and all of the bills that have been proposed by the Democrats, they’re designed to be political Band-Aids. Their effort is to cover their political rear ends, not to fix the problem, and the common-sense, reasonable thing to say is this thing isn’t working.”

After that, Cuomo suggested that Cruz should learn to work with Democrats. The problem for Cuomo is that Cruz already has. Cruz reminded Cuomo that he is co-sponsoring a bill on military sexual assault with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). Cuomo mocked Cruz, calling that his “Green Eggs and Ham” moment, referring to a few minutes out of Cruz’s marathon speech opposing Obamacare before its disastrous rollout. Cruz reminded Cuomo that it was Obama who refused to negotiate prior to the government shutdown that has been blamed on Cruz.

“Throughout the ObamaCare fight, throughout the shutdown, I was reaching out to Democrats saying, ‘Let’s work together to provide meaningful relief for the millions of people who are being hurt because of ObamaCare,’” Cruz said. “And what President Obama and the Democrats said is we will not negotiate, we will not compromise. In fact president Obama invited all of the Senate Republicans over to the White House in the middle of the shutdown. Well all sat there. He called us in a room and said, ‘I called you over here to tell you I’m not going to negotiate, I’m not going to compromise on anything.’ That’s not reasonable. That’s not how you get anything done.”

Chris Cuomo went full partisan hack against Cruz, never acknowledging that Obamacare is not working and that because it is a Democrat law, the Republicans have no responsibility to bail Democrats out of the consequences for pushing it.

Sen. Cruz probably did not know, but the model for ObamaCare in important respects is CuomoCare as introduced by Mario Cuomo in 1992, when community rating and guaranteed issues were instituted. It made individual insurance in New York State basically unaffordable.

That would have been dirty pool in a way. Attacking the son for the sins of the father. But since schadenfreude is the word of the day, it would have been enjoyable.

The Republicans need to do a lot more of what Cruz did so well....push back hard against Dem lies and and misinformation. So far, Cruz is one of only a very small handful of Republicans who seem capable of, or willing, to do this. That's why I think Cruz would make a great candidate in 2016.

Democrats passed it, like a kidney stone in the night. If it doesn't work it's entirely their fault. If they cooperated with Republicans at the outset, it might be working now.

How bad does it have to get before the Democrats compromise? They will NEVER compromise. They may however be defeated. That's how it works.

Have a nice election.

Any viewer with half a brain should be able to interpret the Democrat Party's ploys. They have the media blackmailed into promoting the Left's side. If the media isn't blackmailed but just Democratically biased, then they should not hold positions in the news that they do. This is so boring the more we watch it and the country never gets anything done under these worthless Democrat leaders. They really are an inept bunch. The media really should be angry and embarrassed that they are being forced to appear so foolish with the constant defense of these dumb Democrats.

How does that Cuomo guy dare to go on the air when he and his party utterly destroyed private health insurance in New York State, and ask for help when his party's attempt to do the same thing nationally has blown up in their collective faces?

The Cuomo's share a trait in common - they despise Republicans with money and they love their family with money.

The various Cuomo administrations is the best argument that the wrong side won the Civil War. Slavery was an evil and bad, but systemic revenge which is how the Democrats govern and is actually worse.

What should always be taken in to account when reviewing the USURPER Obozo's PERSONAL approval ratings is the fact that 13% of the population of the USA, the RACIST Blacks, support him absolutely and without question and always will add to that the 20% of the US population who are dyed in the wool Left Wing moonbats and incapable of logical thought or reason do that and you will see that his current 37% approval is reduced to 4% . So who you might ask are this 4% well they are the congenitally stupid MORONS who automatically vote DemocRAT despite not having the ability to THINK coherently.

They will Gingrich him.

Doesn't matter how smart he is or how right he is, if 10,000 marxist jurnolists decide to bring someone down, they will. Particularly when people who should by all right be allied with Cruz are more interested in gaining an infinitesimal political advantage by joining the mob. (which of course is exactly what happened to Gingrich, Palin, and anybody else who ever started to get a foothold against the marxists)

The way through is very simple. But very hard. Suck it up. Ignore the rabble and soldier on through, staying on message and staying unrattled and pleasant all at the same time. Keeping in mind that if they're that pissed at you then you must be doing something right. Worked for Reagan.

Every time I listen to some leftist (and a few righties) spew, I have flashbacks of junior high school.

It takes me back fifty years, but it makes me feel old.

Since Chris Cuomo probably got his CNN gig because of his (in)famous dad and brother (the present governor of New York), it would have been fun to watch if Senator Cruz had brought up CuomoCare and how it made individual insurance unaffordable. I would have loved to watch Chris get huffy and indignant while trying to defend his father's legacy.

The White House and it's media allies still think they can force the Republicans into repair instead of repeal of ObamaCare. They're still not willing to admit their signature issue is a total train wreck and are mad that the Republicans (even Maverick, for crissakes) refuse to come on board to bail them out before they lose total credibility with the low-info swing voters facing high premiums and deductibles.

Combine that with the fact that unlike with Sarah Palin -- who had no national position of power -- Ted Cruz's actions a month ago are looking more and more like a winning strategy within the workings of Congress and the political plays for 2016 (even if repeal wasn't an option as long as Reid runs the Senate and Barack is in the White House, Cruz indelibly tied his name and identity with the public to the repeal of ObamaCare). That's making the burgeoning Cruz Derangement Syndrome crowd on the left -- including, apparently, Mario's son -- even madder, because the Texas Senator isn't the one being marginalized right now, its the die-hard ObamaCare supporters who are losing the debate.
