NBC News is reporting that the gunman who shot and killed a TSA officer and wounded several others at the Los Angeles International Airport had “anti-government materials” in his possession when he was taken into custody.

A man carrying anti-government material and an assault rifle shot his way through security at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday, killing one Transportation Security Administration worker, wounding as many as three others and sending terrified travelers diving for cover and fleeing onto the tarmac, authorities and witnesses said.

The gunman, identified by law-enforcement officials as 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia, was shot by law enforcement and taken into custody in critical condition. The motive is not clear but it’s believed he had anti-government views based on written materials he was carrying, the officials said.

Federal officials told NBC News it was unclear whether Ciancia was targeting the TSA or was trying to shoot his way through to get further into the airport. But one witness said the shooter, who calmly walking through the terminal with his weapon, approached him with a one-word question.

“All he said was, ‘TSA?’ Just like that,” Leon Saryan told MSNBC.

Unless you are willing to make the argument that walking into an airport and shooting people is the act of a sane man, shut up. I don’t want to hear what your thoughts are on his “motive” because the idea that someone mentally ill has a rational motive to kill people is absurd on its face.

The only reason it’s given credence is that one side or the other — in this case, it will be the left — will try to make political hay out of the incident by using the body of a dead TSA agent as a soap box, standing on this victim’s bleeding corpse to make a partisan point.

What’s the point? Conservatives promote violence? Conservatives want to kill people? Conservative rhetoric causes crazy people to do crazy things?

Fine. Where’s your evidence? Show me the direct correlation between a specific spouting by some right-wing nut and a violent act by a mentally ill attacker. It doesn’t exist and until it does, shut up.

I would say the exact same thing if the murderer was carrying around Occupy Wall Street materials. Every single tragedy like this brings out the ghouls –the soulless harpies from both sides who reflexively use the same tired, inane talking points about the other side’s rhetoric to prove absolutely nothing to nobody except those trapped in the same partisan cocoon they are.

Rick Moran is hard wired to scold conservatives at EVERY offense committed by radical leftists. In fact, I can't recall a single article written by Moran where he simply analyzes the instant offending behavior where leftists are solely involved...where Moran didn't drag conservatives intentionally into the cesspool...and try to dunk their heads.

It's stale, it's tiresome, it's trite...and it's bullspit.

No, both sides are NOT 'equally guilty' of "assigning political blame for the actions of a madman"....the MSM aka:The LEFT are always waiting with bated breath, hoping beyond hope for the thinnest veneer of 'evidence' through which they might blame the right for any and all of life's tragic moments....for you to deny the obvious, especially on this site, merely diminishes your already limited stature among free-thinking, logical and fair-minded conservatives.

Remember BENGHAZI!

Thousands of murderers shreiking "Allahu Akbar" at the tops of their lungs over three bloody decades are all isolated incidents that tell us nothing about Islam as a religious or political movement.

One nut with vague "anti-government materials" in his possession proves once and for all that Conservatives and particularly Tea Party members are violent, sociopathic monsters.

If you think for one single second that the press will play this any other way you're delusional.

All we jeffersonians are anti-government people as we demand that minimum of government essential to national functioning, which is about 20% of what we have presently. For those numerically challenged, that means that we would shrink government by about 80%; ie, 80% of federal employees would be dismissed. The Feds do much without constitutional authority. A SCOTUS composed of Borkians could fix that in a few weeks. Demonrat and Repukeican Parties are, in effect, but one Party, the action arm of the Council on Foreign Relations. All good men are "anti-government" as they value individual freedom. The Tenth Amendment limits our government to those acts specifically authorized. Neither health care nor executive orders are specifically authorized and both are, ergo, unconstitutional.

We have guns, people get shot and die. Guns kill people and usually the people they kill deserve it. Get over it, we have guns, people die, tha'ts the point. Embrace it, don't run from it. Guns = death = liberty. Thank you.

First thing I thought of when they said "anti-government materials" was the Bill of Rights.

We are told over and over again when Muslims kill not to judge the ENTIRE religion by the acts of a few nut cases. On the other hand any time someone who in the least way can be linked with conservatives goes off the rails, IMMEDIATELY its the Tea Party or some other "group" they wish to marginalize.

Rick Moran is so worked up that he neglected to do his usual routine of cutting and pasting the majority of his content from someone else's work and adding a few pithy musings. If he had stuck to his usual m.o., the article might have been less worse.

In "The Myth of Mental Illness" Dr. Thomas Szasz points out that there can be no such thing as mental illness because the mind is not a bodily organ. Perhaps the shooter had a brain disease, but it's more likely that he hated his life, wanted to die, wanted to blame others for his shortcomings, and wanted people to know who he was as he committed suicide by cop. Moran can't possibly know about the condition of the shooter's brain, so he goes on and on about "mental illness" as if it actually exists and adequately explains anything.

Of course, there is a method to Moran's "madness." Moran feels his high-minded nonsense gives him license to condescendingly lecture everybody on how to behave.

Blah, blah, blah.

What an angry piece. You quote a news report, the same I read on Y-Net, and then you tell everyone to shut up before anyone has written a word? CFBleachers has my vote on this one. What are you afraid of, exactly, Rick?
