It may have taken more than a year, but there is some tepid media interest in what really happened in Benghazi. 60 Minutes aired an investigative report on Sunday night and even Chris Matthews tapped a little outrage over the subject that had been buried deep within him.

Obviously, questions and outrage would have been nice immediately after the tragedy (how does one take more than a year to get worked up about something like this?) and before the election last year, but we all know how this game is played.

This entire fiasco may not have wreaked havoc with President Obama’s election chances, but is there a possibility it will damage the one real hope the Democrats have for 2016?

According to the Rasmussen poll, over two fifths of Americans believe that the continuing fallout from Benghazi will hurt Clinton’s chances if she decides to make a run for the White House

Ever skeptical of political media motives, I can’t help but wonder if the timing of this sudden curiosity isn’t designed to help both Obama and Clinton.

It’s too late for any real immediate damage to the former and it may be too early for it to affect Herself much for the next election. In our short-attention-span world, it is a bit wishful to think that this story will be much more than a very muddy, distant memory to the average American voter three years from now.

With luck, the current scrutiny can be used to damage Team Hillary now so her inevitability takes a hit.

Where's Neil Young when we need him. "Ohio" recycled would make a good campaign song for Hillary come 2016 with just a few bitter lyric alterations. I know I'll be chanting it.

No soldiers but Rodham’s coming,
We're finally on our own.
This Cycle I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Benghazi.

Gotta get down to it
Islamists are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew him
And found Chris dead on the ground
How can you run [for Prez] when you know?

What if you knew them

FOUR DEAD IN BENGHAZI!

Maybe Dmitry Medvedev is not busy these days. He and Harry Reid seem to be pretty compatible. If Obama doesn't run maybe he will consider being our POTUS.

Saw my first "Hillary for President 2016" bumper sticker today - I think I'll start carrying a Sharpie. Gotta do my part if congress refuses to.

Surely you jest. The instant the media gets clear unequivocal irrefutable evidence that Hillary is running, EVERYTHING negative including Benghazi will disappear in a puff of gob-smacked smoke over the prospects for the FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT. Just like the media let us down over the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT. The behavior will be both shamefully cloying and sycophantic, and indifferent to serious policy issues with future Madame President.

The absolute, overweening arrogance and cast-iron gall it takes for Hillary Clinton to want to run for President after an American ambassador and three other Americans were murdered on her watch is truly breathtaking.

Let's also recall that major US foreign policy disasters happened on her watch: the Arab Spring going seriously south, unchecked Chinese aggressiveness, our UN presence being completely ineffective (ok, that one isn't really that big a deal, I'll admit, the UN being as useful and necessary as a Ferrari is to a budgerigar), the Iraq SOFA disaster -- effectively giving Iraq to Iran and shrugging about it -- and well....there just isn't enough space to list them all here.

How can anyone with half a brain look at her record as a Senator and as Secretary of State and think "this is JUST who we need in the White House?"

You might as well elect a former community organizer who set a record for voting "present" while a one-term Senator.

Oh, wait a second....

I am praying for (selective) fire from Heaven. I can't believe what's happening. I'm overwhelmed by information overload. Too many fronts and there are no white hats on sight.

What they're doing is going back to the "old news" dodge that worked during the Clinton administration.

By putting it out now, while there's no big election in the offing they can keep it off the table during the 2016 election because it's "old news" and already been covered.

It's possible the DNC (The USA's Communist Party Politburo) has decided that HRC cannot win, and the word has gone out to Party members everywhere to destroy her. Thus, the Party members in the media are dutifully following orders.

Who they are grooming as the 2016 candidate is up for speculation. It's certainly no one with either your or the country's best interests at heart, that's for sure. Rahm Emmanuel?

That's how I read it. I think it's mostly the superficia matter of Clinton's age that will push the Dems to chose someone else. Uncle Joe is going to have the same problem.
