The White House has decided to let people back into the people’s house — on a limited basis to show off the grounds and kitchen garden, that is. From the administration this afternoon:

The White House is pleased to announce the resumption of a limited schedule of East Wing and Executive Residence tours, beginning on November 5th. Additionally, the White House will be opening its gardens and grounds to visitors on October 26th and 27th.

Members of the public interested in scheduling a tour of the East Wing and Executive Residence should contact their Member of Congress.

For a tour of the gardens and grounds on Saturday, October 26th from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and Sunday, October 27th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, members of the public can obtain a free, timed ticket at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion located at 15th and E Streets on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 7:30 AM.  Tickets will be distributed — one ticket per person (including small children) — on a first-come, first-served basis.

During this event, visitors can see the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, Rose Garden and South Lawn of the White House.  Additionally, the White House Kitchen Garden – the first vegetable garden at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt’s Victory Garden – will be accessible to guests.

With much aplomb, the White House canceled tours after sequestration went into effect in March, saying the mandatory budget cuts stretched resources too much to allow tours.

After using the cancellation of White House tours as extortion against the American people, it would be best if we, the people, refused to tour the White House as long as this cowardly weasel occupies it. It would be a subtle, yet effective message we could send to him.

So what? What kind of people would even want to tour the White House with that scum in residence?

Let them all through before we can fumigate in 2017.

Ah, they will be away that weekend so a garden tour is scheduled for a couple of days. BFD.

Quite understandably, First Ladies may find the White House tours inconvenient, with half of the place off limits 5 days a week. They can't go straight to their East Wing offices but have to take a circuitous route through basement tunnels. They can't use the first floor rooms for meetings or entertaining.
Of course, they normally accept this is part of the price you pay to live in "the people's house."

Well, Michelle doesn't have to bother with that now that her husband is re-elected ---and she certainly doesn't have to worry about the media criticizing her for this unprecedented, imperial selfishness.
