Sssssstupid.

Jim Carrey has shocked producers of forthcoming comic-book sequel Kick-Ass 2, in which he stars as a baseball-bat-wielding masked crimefighter, after denouncing the “level of violence” that permeates the film in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings.

Carrey, who has been an outspoken proponent of increased gun control in the wake of the shootings by gunman Adam Lanza in December, tweeted on Sunday that he could no longer support the film. He wrote: “I did Kick-Ass 2 a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

Whatever. This is a time-honored method for struggling actors to make themselves out to be bigger than the schlock they star in. Carrey has been publicly embarrassed to be a comedian, to essentially be the real-life Ace Ventura, for years now. He tried playing the role of the spiritual guy when Bruce Almighty came out. Nobody cared. Now he’s reading for the part of serious gun control activist.

It’s just another role he’s playing.

This is a good time to mention, again, that Carrey and his airheaded bimbo of an ex-wife have killed more children with their anti-vaccination advocacy than an hundred Adam Lanza's could.

While Bruce Almighty wasn't a great movie, to say that no one cared is rather disingenuous. The movie grossed $242 million dollars, making it the fifth highest-grossing movie in 2003.

As for his current stance, unless he returns the check and all profits from KA2 he gets no credit. In any event, he gets no respect.

No one cared that he tried the religion schtick.

Yes, the people who paid for tickets to the tune of $242 million dollars didn't care. Right.

Dude, that's not a comment on the movie. It's a comment on Jim Carrey trying to reinvent himself.

Jim Carrey hasn't been funny since he was a bit actor on "In Living Color". I still wonder how he made it in the movies.

Mr. Carrey is also getting a substantial check for "Dumb and Dumber to", filming later this year.
Of course, after his deposit clears, he'll denounce how that movie makes fun of people of lower intelligence. Lower intelligence, as in anyone dumb enough to buy a ticket to anything he makes.

Let me see: a "ruined" Jim Carrey still has millions of dollars to his name -- unless he had Bernie Madoff invest it all. He can live on the beach in Mexico in obscurity for the rest of his days on the money he still has. Perhaps someone should suggest that to him?

He'd have to have armed security in Mexico. That would be hypocritical of him.
