A survey of US adults taken in mid-January suggests that Americans will not take any proposed federal gun ban lying down. The Fox survey asked a range of questions and found that in all, 52% of Americans have a firearm in their home. That’s greater than the percentage that re-elected Barack Obama last year.
The survey also found that, unsurprisingly, far more Republicans than Democrats own guns. Sixty-five percent of Republicans own guns, while just 38% of Democrats do.
The most important question yielded the most interesting result. The question was, “If the government passed a law to take your guns, would you give up your guns or defy the law and keep your guns?”
Sixty-five percent of Americans (70% of Republicans) would defy the law. Even a majority of 52% of Democrats would defy the ban and hang on to their firearms.
For more evidence of this widespread defiant attitude, visit any gun store or gun show. Retailers cannot keep certain firearms and ammunition in stock, as the threat of government bans is creating a run on sales. Gun ranges are also doing brisk business in the face of the Feinstein ban.

My cold dead hands.
my warm dead hands with the hot barrell!
Like.
Leftists who are creaming their jeans over gun confiscation control the narrative for a while, but those who have any basis in reality will quickly realize that Americans will not be disarmed voluntarily.
Ultimately the left will try to use insurance companies, banks and lenders, and other stealth mechanisms to destroy gun and ammo manufacturers and dealers to do the dirty work.
Of course, we can stymie them by providing other means of financing for these businesses, and we may well have to.
Leftists are on a fools errand.
For gun confiscation to work, you need two things. You need a compliant population that is willing to disarm, or that is fearful of becoming automatic lawbreakers. Then you need a tactically large enough force of Government operatives who are willing to employ deadly force to get the firearms out of the hands of the private citizens.
If only a third of American gun owners would comply, through either a misguided sense of civil duty or outright fear of the threat of government applied violence or lawfare, that still leaves 200 million firearms in the hands of around 60 million Americans.
Even if you count the rabble that has been recruited into the TSA, and only if every police officer in the country atempted to enforce this idiocy, the potential government force would only be about 2 percent of the still intact, largest armed body in the world. Based on what I’ve seen this week, the response of many police forces will be not to enforce such a confiscation order. Someone at the Fed level is thinking force, I think; why else would agencies such as the TSA and the National Weather Service be making purchases of several billion rounds of small arms ammunition over the last two to three years?
The long march through the institutions has, sadly, reached even into the US Military Academy at West Point. Still, I do not believe that the Army, made up of volunteers who are the opposite of the lefty hipsters who currently mewl for breaking the Bill of Rights and the Constitution itself. I have too much faith in the young men and women who serve in the military of this country to believe that they would go along with orders to intervene with arms within the borders of the US. The Wesley Clarks of the Pentagon might want it, but the troops are our kids and we raised them to be be free and to value right to bear arms.
The best thing we can do is to take up our civic responsibility once again and send these statist creatures back to whatever hole they crawled out of. By the ballot box.
They will do everything they can to weaken gun ownership first.
This means every punitive hurdle they can put into place, such as arbitrarily making you wait a week to pick up your property, fingerprinting, licensing schemes, getting companies to go along by not carrying certain types of guns or ammo, “voluntarily” instituting more stringent practices than even the federal government requires, etc.
Make it hard enough to own – eventually people stop bothering going through the trouble.
This reduces the number of gun owners, making the more violent federal actions against gun collectors with “arms and ammo caches” or “arsenals” to be stigmatized, isolated, and persecuted.
Their problem is they are trying to jump through their perceived window of opportunity over the next two years before it gets slammed shut on them in the 2014 midterm elections – which means they are jumping the gun prematurely at this stage as they have not accomplished yet the previously needed goals of isolating gun owners.
Thank God for American DNA. Still enough living generations that understand Constitutional liberty.
“If the government passed a law to take your guns, would you give up your guns or defy the law and keep your guns?”
Only FNC would ask a dumb question like that! NOBODY has EVER proposed appealing the Second Amendment and the government come and take everybodys guns!
But then I supose, any source of help too keep the radical special interest activists manufactured and delusional fear alive is needed from wherever they can get it.
Zeke, you aren’t even a very good liar.
What do you suppose the language of (D) Fienstien’s bill is about? It is about confiscation.
I’m thinking troll, and a pretty poor one at that.
Some of you radicals are entertaining! Those with delusional fears on the other hand, are very sad! Hmmmm! Which are which?
If I recall correctly, there was a lot of “appealing” to the rights secured under the Second Amendment that took place in the Heller vs. DC case that established that there is a specific personal right to keep and bear arms – arms that were not qualified as to what type the Founding Fathers were referring to.
Of course the case was appealed back and forth through the court system until it was appealed all the way to the Supreme Court.
Even they got into what constituted a “malitia” – oh, excuse me…..I meant to say “militia”.
The verdict in that case was very…..appealing.
#Ban more.Buy more.
Yep, Keep them credit cards maxed out buying more guns and ammo! Then pray your kids get those hated government grant to go college. Its good for the burg biz too — more guns and ammo to steal!
Average number of firearm thefts that occur every year in the US: 341,000
(Source: US Dept. of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, Guns and Crime, 4/94) — 2009 – Studies show that there is an average of 500,000 guns stolen each year. (Don’t know what the exact current numbers are but the ‘avg’ cited is a running avg).
The other third lied.
