Ann Althouse picks up on a Think Progress post — using both words extremely loosely — ripping Sen. Paul for having the unmitigated gall to ask Hillary Clinton a question about foreign affairs.
“GOP Senator Pushes Gun-Running Conspiracy Theory During Benghazi Hearing.”
That’s the way they put it over at Think Progress. I’ve watched the video. Rand Paul asks a question. It seems histrionic to equate asking a question with pushing a conspiracy theory, and the truth is Hillary Clinton’s answer has the ring of… lying.
Paul’s question was pretty straightforward: Is the US running guns to the Syrian opposition through Turkey? You’d think a Secretary of State would be able to answer that definitively, yes or no. Hillary couldn’t. That ought to be a scandal all by itself.
Let’s note what Hillary does not do, as revealed in Wednesday’s hearings. She does not read email. She does not read cables. She does not monitor terrorist attacks on our embassies in real time. She does not accurately characterize terrorist attacks on our embassies after the fact. When pressed on that last part, she screeches “What difference at this point does it make?”
It makes all the difference in the world.
Just don’t expect the juicebox mafia at Soros-funded Think Progress to have any idea why.

Maybe she’s spending too much time with her assistant.
If they are running guns would it be a state department operation? Shouldn’t they be asking the head of the cia about that? Wouldn’t that be something done on a need to know basis. Would state department employees know even if the cia agents were working out of the embassies? I don’t know, I’m just asking.
There are plenty of good questions to ask her, like why the embassy didn’t have the security it needed, and why they tried to blame the terrorist attack on a youtube video, why were the requests for military assistance denied?
Thanks
State and the CIA are joined at the hip.
Did republicans deliberately infect children’s vaccines with super AIDS which causes autism in blacks and kills gays?
What, I’m not pushing a conspiracy theory, *I’m just asking a question*. So did you? Obviously if you refuse to answer the question then your guilty (and if you answer in the negative it’s a coverup!).
“Couldn’t” she, or wouldn’t she? That is the question. “Whether ’tis better to…”
Given that she’s leaving anyway, maybe she thought it better to be found lazy or incompetent than to lie to Congress and be found out and punished, or tell the truth and open a Pandora’s box of troubles, enough to bring down the whole Administration — something no Demoncrat on Earth would ever forgive?
Her peevish responses, coupled with the little tantrum, expose her for what she’s always been: an intellectually lightweight political hack — and most likely a liar about to be caught in the CYA act. But, in all of these things, she’s been keeping “good” company. Not really new, not any of this! Anybody expecting to get to the bottom of Benghasi by deposing Shillary was deluding themself. Wasn’t going to happen. Her greater loyalty lays elsewhere than to America, or to the truth.
