This ad is part of gun manufacturer Glock’s new campaign to promote the Second Amendment and armed self-defense. It could not come at a more auspicious time, as leftist Sen. Dianne Feinstein is unveiling her assault weapons ban today.
The Glock ad, titled “Wrong Girl,” strikes an important theme that gets lost in the political noise: The Second Amendment is not about hunting. Millions of Americans use firearms to defend themselves against two-legged predators. A semiautomatic handgun can be a great equalizer, and having and knowing how to use one can save your life. A higher magazine capacity and quick fire capability can be vital in a situation involving more than one assailant.
The Blaze has more of the Glock ads posted here.

– for the redhead! Meanwhile, this morning blue-haired DiFi is displaying her weaponry.
1992 – one knock
1996 – two knocks
2008 – three knocks
Excellent ad.
“A” for effort, and “A+” for timeliness and scorning political correctness. “A” for understanding that sex sells, and it may interest some who currently don’t own a gun. However:
* She remained too close to attacker when having space to back up further.
* She should have at least sought concealment behind the wall between the living room and entry.
* She was on target in a life-threatening situation, but she was still indexing as the intruder broke through the door. He could be on her by the time she commits to pressing the trigger.
* It portrays violent predators in a dangerously misleading manner. Fainting because a gun was pointing at him? After he already decided to break down a door, rape and probably kill the victim to avoid leaving witnesses?
C’mon, Glock. You sell to about 80% of all law enforcement agencies in America. Couldn’t you seek some input from your extensive contacts to create a realistic scenario?
It’s an ad, not a documentary.
I tend to agree with the approach Glock took here.
They didn’t turn it into a lesson in tactics – that wasn’t the point of the ad. They are trying to sell pistols, not tactical training.
They didn’t show the girl shooting the intruder, but showed him fainting instead.
Unrealistic?
Sure.
But it accomplishes the goal of placing in the minds of the hesitant a couple of good points.
First, you don’t necessarily have to shoot someone to stop them.
Second, it gets them to thinking about themselves owning a gun and standing there holding it.
They can more easily identify with the would-be victim.
Had they instead had the girl more realistically ducking behind cover, and then firing until she was either out of ammo or the intruder was dead, then the entire mood of the commercial would have changed and people would not be thinking “I could so handle a gun like that.”
Instead, they would be thinking “Oh my God look at all of that blood.”
As for keeping her finger off the trigger – I’d agree with that as well as you always want to be absolutely sure of your target before committing to sending a slug downrange.
In the real world it could easily have been a drunk getting mixed up and barging into the wrong house thinking his key wasn’t working instead of a predator.
In the end, Glock is really stepping up by placing this ad in the kind of political environment that we face now.
Good points.
Because you just know the gun banners are going to watch these ads and examine their basic premises as a result in … 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 …
and yet your headline says glock “fires hottie”. not a good way to promote sales.
Neither are “with a.” That’s why there are other words there.
Ah!
LOL
Looks like Lee “Gunny” Ermey found employment after being let go by Geico. Nice work, Sgt. Hartmann!
At the bottom of this story are links to columns in Salon (via Scribol). Why are you guys at PJMedia sending traffic their way? It’s the liberal version of Beavis and Butthead.
This links to an ad from a gun range in Texas that’s on the same wavelength. Definitely worth a click, funny, and short. Glock’s ad is more politically motivated, perhaps, but they both tell the same story.
