But it was the “gun culture’s” fault that he committed murder-suicide, of course.
On April 1, 2006, Belcher suffered a serious cut on his hand when the then-freshman punched out a window in a ground-floor door at Androscoggin Hall on the UMaine campus, according to university police Sgt. Scott Curtis, who reported, “I was told that Belcher was upset over a girl.”
Ten months later, Belcher was the subject of a dormitory noise complaint. According to a police report, a student in Gannett Hall called police about the raised voices of Belcher and his girlfriend as they had “a discussion outside his room.”
UMaine officials on Monday released four police reports about Belcher, saying three of them were not found over the weekend because his name was spelled wrong and the wrong birthdate appeared in the incident reports.
One report — a request by Belcher to be let into a building — was found during an inquiry Saturday evening by the Bangor Daily News.
The 2006 window-punching incident resulted in what the police report termed “a possible severed thumb and lacerations to the wrist.”
So, maybe he was a hothead in 2006. But not before then, right? Wrong. He was going thug as early as the age of 12, according to a man who called in to a talk radio show yesterday and said he knew the young Belcher.
But…but…he was supposedly concerned that Kasandra Perkins had been out too late the night before her murder. He was concerned about their daughter, right?
He was playing the field.
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher had a boozy dinner with another woman and spent the night at her apartment before he went home, fought with and killed his girlfriend, and then ended his own life in a practice-facility parking lot, sources said yesterday.
After dinner and drinks Friday night at a local tavern, the former Long Island high-school star took the woman, Brittni Glass, to her home, but spent the next several hours asleep in his Bentley outside her building, neighbors said.
After cops roused him from his drunken slumber at about 2:30 a.m., Belcher went inside Glass’ building and re-emerged about four hours later.
“I was with him that night, that’s it,” a reluctant Glass told The Post yesterday.
Such a manly man was Jovan Belcher. He even belonged to a group dedicated to ending violence against women and everything.
At least he kissed Kasandra and apologized to her, after he shot her nine times.

But…but…but…blaming the gun is just so much easier!
No thought is required – only acceptance of received wisdom from the liberal/academic/political world.
It always amazes me how simplistic some folks thought processes are.
If Costos wanted to blame any particular culture, perhaps he should look at the sports culture instead of the so called gun culture. After all, the professional football sports culture seems to have a higher percentage rate of social delinquents than any group of hunters or gun owners I’ve ever met.
This is what happens when relativism rules a society; no one can distinguish between good and evil. I’m sure at his funeral everyone will talk about what a nice guy he was, deep down.
Yeah, that gun made him a jackass… ban guns! (Thank you, left/libtards.)
I’m totally fed up to there with the glorification and enrichment of thugs. I haven’t watched the NBA for years, I can barely stand college basketball, and the NFL is just disgusting. The NCAA (made up of college presidents) is the most santimonious bunch of profiteering hypocrites in history, bar none.
We have reached a point where athletic ability pays off better than going into medical research. The ability to violently assault other men on an athletic field is more admired than a person who invents a new and affordable life-saving device. Human animals jacked up on steroids are pampered and spoiled from the day the first demonstrate unusual athleticism.
Like the Roman Empire we are on a decadent road to the ash heap of history. Our arena spectacles are professional sports and our gladiator training takes place in the bowels of big time college sports programs. A pox on all their houses.
Now they are going to say that the right blames the “other” woman not the gun. Because has the election told us “republicans are old white men who hate women.” Sounds like Belcher was a self centered average football player on the worst NFL team.
I’m just having trouble understanding how inability of one black athelete to “hold his liquor”, liberty-wise, means the rest of us can no longer take a draught from the cup.
Psst…The gun culture is real. Guns can really tell us to do things. My gun is telling me things right now. It says I should obey God’s Commandments and love my neighbor. Sorry, liberals, I guess you just don’t hang out with the right kind of guns.
Hehe…my guns are a bit more precocious.
Any one see the obvious solution? Outlaw ownership of guns by blacks. Problem mostly solved.
We have already done that in such paragons of racial tolerance as NYC, Washington DC, Chicago and for all useful purposes California. Blacks are only allowed to legally arm themselves in places where racist bitter clingers live.
