ORIGINAL POST: After the disaster of trying to blame an obscure YouTube video for the attack on the CIA operation in Benghazi and Obama’s prophecy at the UN that “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam,” Hillary Clinton’s State Department appears to be taking another run at the First Amendment free speech rights of American citizens.
A notice was posted yesterday on the website of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) about a symposium to be held today at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on “Defamation Acts Against Islam.” And one top U.S. State Department official will be in attendance:
The headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will host a symposium on “Defamation Acts against Islam: conflict dimensions and perspectives of co-existence between Islam and the West” on Monday 19/11/2012.
The Session will be attended by Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the OIC Secretary General. It will be chaired by Ambassador Ahmad Taib , Director General of the Branch of the Saudi Foreign Ministry, Makkah Al-Mukarrammah region. It will also be attended by Sergey Kuznetsov, Consul General of the Russian Federation and Anne Casper, US Consul General in Jeddah.
The OIC has made no secret of its intentions to use the UN and international law to criminalize what they consider to be “defamation of Islam.” For example, OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu gave a speech last Friday on “An OIC Approach for Combating Discrimination and Intolerance against Muslims,” in which he gave a road map of how they plan to do it:
OIC’s position has all along been entrenched in international legal instruments and we need to build on this tradition. We must emphasize that there is no hierarchy of human rights whereby a single right can trump others. Freedom of opinion and expression is among the fundamental rights.It does not include a licence to hate mongering. Freedom of expression does not mean the right to vilify. Our position must also be rooted in history and culture. Having indicated our seriousness at building consensus, we must seek to be reciprocated in the same spirit. We need to seek multi-stakeholder support for an international discourse seeking an intercultural solution – A solution that acknowledges that denigration of symbols and personalities sacred in Islam must be viewed as a matter of identity. It inflicts the psyche of Muslim all over the world. It is in that context that we seek an end to the systematic pattern and increasing frequency of events that contribute towards stereotyping, stigmatization and alienation of Muslims. Such events constitute an affront to human dignity violating the whole range of human rights of victims.
Coinciding with that “brainstorming” session during the OIC’s annual meeting of foreign ministers, the OIC released its Fifth Annual Report on Islamophobia, which is primarily directed at acts of free speech committed in the United States.
Hillary Clinton’s complicity with the OIC towards these ends is no surprise either, since she met twice with the OIC last year as part of the “Istanbul Process,” including her vow to use “old fashioned techniques of peer-pressure and shaming” to target “Islamophobia.”
Those meetings played out last December when the State Department backed the OIC-drafted UN Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18. Check out the membership of the UN Human Rights Council.
No word on when Hillary Clinton intends to press the OIC about the pandemic racism and “kafirphobia” of the Muslim world.

How can anybody take these clowns seriously? Their leaders openly call for the extermination of the entire Jewish race, in fact death to all non-muslims in general, and they have the gall to make statements like this in front of the UN? It reminds me of the signs being carried by people in the various Muslim protests over the years that said “behead those who call Islam violent”. It’s the sort of thing one might expect to see in an obvious parody, yet it’s reality and they mean it. They can’t even understand the concept of a double standard. How can one seriously negotiate with such people?

The core of free speech in the US is the right of citizens to criticize government and criticize the people who wield the power of government. This includes criticism of contenders for power. When Sharia and Islam is merged into government then Sharia and Islam must be excluded from treatment as a religion for free speech purposes. The coupling of Islam with government must be addressed. Imams are contending for power just as much as any American politician. And beyond that they are seeking a total displacement of non-Sharia law, inserting themselves into totalitarian control.
When Islam and government are merged, as in OIC member governments, then the entire notion of “defamation of religion” is wholly inapposite. It might be like saying that one may not criticize the president because he is the president. The American free speech way to deal with an Imam is to call her an public figure, thus allowing elevated rights to criticize, not the reverse proposition of silence.
To think for a moment that we should embrace an asymmetrical sort of political competition in favor of Islam or “religion” is preposterous.
I am more inclined to look at something like the Honduran law that mandates that a sitting president that seeks to change the law to allow them to run for a second term must be immediately expelled from office. The corollary here would be to treat Clinton’s attack on free speech as grounds for immediate removal from government. Discussion alone is enough to expel.
The notion of treating ALL religions equally is a fatally incomplete analysis. The issue is the right of citizens to criticize government.
A brutal person cannot be vilified by publicly making known that he is such.One can only denigrate or defame a person when telling lies about someone who is well behaved, honest and responsible. Telling the truth about someone like Bernard Madoff and his massive fraud is not vilification. He is a deceitful thief who only cared about himself and trampled over everyone to achieve his ambitions.
The same applies to religions. A religion cannot be vilified by spelling out the truth about it. Take Christianity. At the heart of Christian teaching are two commandments: A wholehearted love of God and a compassionate love for the neighbor including even the enemy. The latter commandment does not mean ignoring their disinterest or even rejection of the fundamentals of Christianity but telling them the truth about Christianity and seeking to reason and convince them about their need for this faith.
Take Islam. What is at the heart of Islam? It is a mindless submission to Allah and unquestioning loyalty to the example of Muhammad. There is no command in this religion to love Allah, one’s neighbor and even one’s enemy. The enemy is to be subjugated or destroyed. At best Islam can only offer a type of slavery to those who will not submit and follow its tenets – at worst a brutal extermination.
Historically those who have sought to make converts to Christianity through the sword have by their actions contradicted the teachings of Jesus Christ and the commandment to love. Historically those who have sought to make converts to Islam through the sword have by their actions simply been following the example of Muhammad and the teachings of the Qur’an. Which of the two was a vile person, Muhammad or Jesus? Which of the two is the vile religion, Islam or Christianity? Read the Qur’an and New Testament and compare them carefully. The character of the God and Father of Jesus Christ is very different from the character of Allah. This is not the same Creator simply perceived from two sides. Which is the God who has made himself know down the centuries and which is simply a god created in the image of a violent man?
Clinton and Obama are either woefully ignorant of the differences or worse, they deliberately disregard or distort these differences to make Islam respectable and somehow a perfectly good alternative to Christianity. Read the Qur’an and Bible and see which in fact is the deceitful religion. If Islam is a vile religion begun by a vile man it takes courage to say this loudly and publicly. Saying this is not Islamophobia. It is not because of a fear of Islam but because of the fear of the consequences this has for those who follow this religion and take its tenets to their logical conclusion – which we see in the lives of the radical Islamists and their suicide bombers.
If the religious of the world would meet in a cataclysm and eliminate one another the remaining secular leftists would be perfectly satisfied to continue their lives from that point, free of all religions and thus of all moral restraint. All of the major leftist ideologies believe that religion is the “opiate of the people” and something to be scorned and rejected. This includes Communists, Marxists, Fascists, Anarchists, socialists, et al. Totalitarian systems are challenged by religious teachings which do not, in and of themselves, promote a totalitarian political system. Islam does exactly that and thus is less objectionable than most other religions which promote some degree of individual freedom
You need to realize that progressivism, communism and socialism is a religion. The followers believe in the superiority of the state over the individual and are dedicated to the destruction of individual freedom and rights.
Mohammed ordered his followers to spread the faith by the sword and that is what they did for hundreds of years. They were told to allow the people of the book (Jews and Christians) the choice of death or submission. All others were to be put to death. When Obama said, “[T]he future must not belong to those who slander the ‘prophet’ of Islam,” actually he was correct. The future must not belong to those who slander Muhammad, it must belong to those who tell the truth about him.
Those who are eager to make the truth known about Islam and Muhammad are accused of slander and of Islamophobia. If you see your neighbor engaging in harmful beliefs and behavior, ignoring or trying to excuse this is the most unkind thing you could do. The neighbor needs to be confronted in a compassionate way. The same, however, applies to all Muslims who begin to take their religion seriously without recognizing the consequences. It is worth noting that where there has been a strong Judeo-Christian influence there have been many beneficial consequences for that society with a strong emphasis on individual freedom, responsibility and accountability.

It just happened here in PA at Edinboro University so it must be happening elsewhere. It wasn’t a “brave” American liberal student, however, it was a female Iranian student. She had two performance pieces prepared, one concerning abortion and one concerning Islam (in a negative light). The event was advertised. She then received a letter from the head of the art dept. telling her she could not perform her anti-Islam piece.
At the date and time of the scheduled appearance, she showed up at the Bruce Gallery where she was denied entry. She then stood outside the gallery in a Burka, holding a poster-sized copy of the letter of fascist repression she had received from the department head. Many students gathered to support her and then she led a procession out of the building, across and off the campus, and over to someone’s private front lawn. Students arranged cars to shine their headlights on the lawn where she then proceeded to perform her art.
I have yet to find any coverage of this event in the local media.

Our constitutional right to free speech is not likely to be overturned. And even if it is, who is going to enforce it? Local cops? Very funny. Most of the nation’s police are hired in small communities where they live. Does anyone believe that small community tax payers are going to put up with cops who take their neighbors to jail for saying something bad about Islam? Would anyone expect the federal government to hunt down and arrest citizens for bad mouthing such a rotten religion, or any religion for that matter? The larger problem for legislating and enforcing such laws is that it would require a vast overhaul of existing law, and, most difficult of all, public acquiescence by a national culture that has been nurtured for hundreds of years by free thought and expression.

Remember that “the law is what the Supreme Court says it is,” at least since the days of the New Deal but especially since the Warren Court transformed our society by revolutionizing the federal system. After four more years, we will have an Obama Court. If it declares that diktats from the UN override our Constitution, and the president then in office calls up the armed forces to enforce the Court’s ruling (as Eisenhower did in Little Rock), then there is not much ordinary citizens can do short of starting civil war. Our right to free speech won’t mean much if the Supreme Court declares that there is no longer any such right because of the superior force of UN regulations. Be afraid, Americans, be very afraid.
Your naivety must be communicating youthful ignorance. Having lived under a communist-ruled dictatorship I can tell you that a tyrannically-ruled government would arrest, and murder, people for speaking or acting freely, if such action or speech were consideration a violation. Try using any of the commonly accepted racial slurs today, and see what kind of negative response you receive. Tanstaafl, that was me. How many people are aware that the IPAB section of Obamacare can only be repealed between January and February 2017 – by a supermajority in both houses? They aren’t under the control of the executive or legislative branch. How many know that the CFPB has been written the same way? Their funding comes directly from the Federal Reserve so they too are unaccountable to any branch, and by extension, we the people. Throw in Fast and Furious and now this – the people have elected a tyrant.

Such a move will, in other words, knock out the entire philosophical foundation of our Constitutional Republic, inherited from the Enlightenment via our Founding Fathers. A first order catastrophe!

Let us also dispense with the idea that Islam is a religion. Islam is not so much a religion as it is a supremacist, totalitarian political ideology, a destructive and murderous meme impervious to moderation or change, and with a narrowly circumscribed set of rituals that define every aspect of its followers’ lives. Speaking to the “Islam is a religion of peace,” assertion that we hear from Muslims and ignorant (yes, ignorant) Westerners, when Muslims assert that Islam is a “religion of peace” they are not engaging in al taqqiya, they are actually making an assertion in good faith.
The problem lies in the fact that Islam has, from the Western point of view, a defective concept of peace. In semitic languages like Arabic, the consonants are the “root” of the word: islam = submission, and salam = peace have the same root, slm.
