The now former head of the CIA, Gen. David Petraeus, sinks because of an affair. He may have disclosed classified material to his mistress. He and the mistress, Paula Broadwell, exchanged explicit emails using anonymously established email accounts, and Broadwell used an anonymous email account to threaten another woman. Those threats ended up exposing the affair. Attach “allegedly” to all of the above since they’re part of the growing but not yet proven body of evidence that the press is bandying about.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, found out about all this through the media despite the fact that the FBI knew about the affair back in the summer. Feinstein is angry and demanding answers and worrying about the national security implications. Petraeus’ testimony in the Benghazi terrorist attack is on hold for some reason.
What’s the big deal here? Didn’t we learn during the 1990s that sex is sex and has nothing to do with one’s job performance? Didn’t we learn that it’s perfectly ok for a president to do whatever and whoever he wants? If it’s cool for a president to diddle interns and threaten government subordinates into silence and engage in his extracurriculars while ordering American troops into battle, why isn’t it cool for one of the president’s employees to go horn dog with a blabbermouth and cyberstalker? Didn’t President Obama campaign with a philanderer president, whose convention speech is said to have helped Obama win re-election?
Signed,
Confused

Well played! No need to act confused however, as it is understood by the well-informed that our nation is in the hands of the enemies of liberty and justice. The only rationality involved in the decisions being made is how to further weaken the U.S.A. to usher in the tyranny of global governance.
– you have Obama’s permission to die when America is destroyed.
If Ambassador Stevens had asked for 1,000 armed hookers they would have been sent immediately and with a secret service escort. He made the mistake of thinking this nation would prefer to send trained and honorable soldiers.
Remember if you need armed protection from the federal government, ask for hookers and request that their pimps be heavily armed. An advanced team will be vectored in, a serviceable location found and follow up forces will be in place courtesy of Air Force One.
They are not sluts. They are Special Forces.
Petreaus was doomed the moment rumors of him being a possible future Republican candidate surfaced. Not to mention that SOMEBODY has to take the fall when the Benghazi thing eventually blows up – and it ain’t going to be Hilary.
Ah, you have hit upon the main reason I could never be a liberal–I can’t keep track of what is or is not a cause for outrage at any given moment. Secret CIA prisons–human rights nightmare or okey-dokey? Predator drone strikes–efficient use of projected power or ruthless assassination?. Now it is REALLY confusing, what with extra-marital affairs (none of your business when done by a member of a Democrat administration) and cause for immediate, humiliating dismissal (when done by a member of a Democrat administration).
One must be mentally and morally as nimble as circus acrobat to keep up with the changes.
I actually agree that if the good General compromised his official email account through negligence, then he can’t be head of the CIA, for reasons clear to anyone who has ever worked with that kind of access. I also agree that if he compromised or discussed official information with someone having no need to know, he really can’t be head of a professional intelligence organization.
The refreshing thing is that since David Petraeus is not really a Democrat, but only works for one, the the right professional thing can be done, the thing that would be done to someone at the lower levels. I mean, think if it had been Panetta–he’d still be in office, fighting the rear-guard action for some time to come. But Petraeus doesn’t have an organized political support base, and is seemingly an honorable man overall, so out he goes, and probably rightfully so.
