What prominent institution did everything it could to make George W. Bush a failed president?
If your answer is the mainstream media (MSM) you would be correct.
The MSM was shocked shocked when Bush won reelection in 2004 and they were not going to cut him any slack whatsoever about anything good or bad that was happening in our nation at the time.
Remember what Senator John Kerry famously said about President Bush during the 2004 presidential campaign, “I can not believe I am losing to this idiot.”
All the MSM agreed, and so their mantra was: Bush is a stupid warmonger, totally out of his league — the economy sucks — he is running up the deficits and unemployment at 5.4% is way too high.
So now if Romney defeats Obama, look for a new MSM attitude that sounds something like this: “We can’t believe we couldn’t keep Obama in the White House after we put him there, so now let’s do everything we can to make Romney a one-term president”
With that thought in mind, here are just a few MSM news stories that you should prepare yourself to hear repeatedly over the next four years, starting on Wednesday, November 7th.
- There are 46 million Americans on food stamps. (Headline every other day.)
- One out of every six Americans is living in poverty. (We need to produce special broadcast reports on this immediately.)
- The unemployment rate for African Americans is 14.3% and 10% for Hispanics. (Romney is just a rich white guy who does not care about people of color.)
- The national unemployment rate is 7.9% (But since we all know the rate is really around 15%, why don’t we just start saying 15% is the official rate?)
- Our national deficit is now over $16 trillion and out of control. (OMG, when did that happen? Could it have been during the Democratic National Convention this summer? Oh well, we ignored that, but now let’s make sure every American knows how to write out $16,000,000,000 and truly understands what this number means for our national future.)
- The liberal agenda and policies of President Obama were not defeated. (This election just reflects the normal ebb and flow of American politics.)
- Job creation and general economic improvement has improved dramatically since Romney was elected president. (Romney is the beneficiary of the economic momentum started by Obama. Yes, yes, all hands on deck for this one!)
- Hillary in 2016. (Yippee! Now we must all coordinate our talking points and band together to make President Romney a one-termer who only cares about big business, big oil, big defense, big pharma, and ignores the plight of all minorities, and the poor. Let’s get crackin’ because the 2016 race for the White House starts today!)

It’ll be interesting to see what happens if they try to go back to business-as-usual-smear-the-Republican. Four years of Obama screwups, with the MSM fawning over every one of them, has been a wakeup call for a lot of people. And with the new media stronger than ever, it’ll become easier and easier to debunk those claims. Still, it’s gonna be rough.
On the other hand . . . four more years of those hi-larious ANSWER and World Can’t Wait demonstrations. Zombie will be working overtime!
Just burn down their offices.
How long will the rioting persist following the election results? The MSM is probably working on that meme already. These other trivial issues can wait.
Don’t know, but it’ll be bad either way.
If Obama wins expect celebratory flash mobs popping up in certain parts of the country, centered around looting some particular local business and beating any Republican looking (read white) person they happen to run across.
If Obama loses there will be riots like Rodney King in many large urban centers. The media will help fan it by screaming voter suppression, effects of the hurricane, etc. Obama is not going to allow anybody to hurt his people if he can help it, so the riots will be treated with kid gloves instead of the efficient way the king riots were put down. A few state governors (but not in most blue states) may try and mobilize their guard troops, Obama will deny all requests for federal firepower and send Holder to interfere with state mobilizations wherever possible.
I recommend stocking up on ammo, if you haven’t already.
Did you see this piece I wrote about this issue a few weeks ago?

I don’t think Romney will be as quiet as Bush (or at least I hope that will be the case). Also, the Ministry of Propaganda and Lies is beginning to run on empty. The WaPo is hanging on because of the Kaplan courses and the NYT is hanging on through loans from a Mexican billionaire, and most other members of the Ministry are in the red (income wise). How long will that continue before they all do a great big bankruptcy? As Rosa E. @1 points out, with the new media, the Ministry will have a lot of comptetition, and may find itself only with readers on the Left which is not enough to sustain it.
Hillary in 2016 is right because this will be Romney’s second term. You’ll recall that he was initially elected to office in 2008, and has he really screwed up the economy! I don’t know where the idea that Obama was President came from, but you really shouldn’t repeat the lies of those racist, hick, hayseed bitter-clingers.
The happiest guy in the world on Wednesday will be Jimmy Carter, who thanks to Barack Obama, will no longer be remembered as the worst President in the history of the United States. He’ll be “disappeared” entirely from the history books.
In the short term the democratic party and media (redundant) may try and pretend that Obama never happened, but I think in the history books he’ll be hailed as the second coming of christ. It’ll be full of phrases like “the country wasn’t ready for him” and tripe like that. Obamacare will be trumpeted as a great humanitarian achievement. If we have a socialized healthcare system by then it’ll be heralded as the foundation to the great and wonderful system we have today, if not it’ll be remembered fondly as a noble effort that failed against the ignorance of the masses. Once a generation or two is born that don’t remember him, and once his memory fades a bit in the public conscious the historians will be free to spin the story of Obama however they like, and they will NOT portray the first black president as a failure. At most they’ll pass the blame off on to Bush, or racist and anti-gay voters.
If I have children at some point in the future, I suspect I’ll be getting angry notes from teachers when my kids reply to the official Obama narrative they’re being fed with the truth that I’ve told them about what he really was. Hopefully by then the thought police won’t take them away from me or haul me off to prison. But that likely depends on the outcome tomorrow.
I think you forgot foreign policy:
“Under Obama, the Middle East was quiet and the US was respected. Now they hate us, and our embassies are under attack!”
“Under Obama, the Russians were quiet and dismantling their war machine. Now there is another arms race!”
“Under Obama, Syria was just having some internal strife. Now the civil war is spilling over into Turkey and Lebanon!”
You forgot three zeros on $16T.
$16,000,000,000 is 16 Billion dollars.
$16,000,000,000,000 is 16 Trillion dollars.
Don’t forget about the homeless. Once a Republican is back in power, the press will rediscover the homeless.
And casualties. We’ll start hearing about casualties in Afghanistan again.
And the press will start reporting how the actual unemployment numbers are far higher than those reported by the BLS.
– suddenly the liberal paper reporters in my liberal town in my liberal state will notice all the homeless I daily have to step over on my way to work up Market Street.
I feel sorry for the MSM. For four years they’ve had a great time, writing happy joyful stories about Barack and his wonderful magical family and his amazing presidency.
Now they’ll have to go back to WORK!
It’s bull****, man!
