This.
That’s the famed Red Rocks amphitheater outside Denver. It seats close to 10,000, and became famous after U2 filmed a concert there in 1983. The Romney/Ryan rally at Red Rocks filled the place and thousands who wanted to get inside had to be turned away.
The Denver Post has posted more photos of the massive rally here.

Sorry, but U2 did not grant fame to Red Rocks. Sure they played there but that was almost 20 years after the Beatles played there. I just can’t give U2 credit for that. There a second gen rock at best.
Regardless, it was a stunning turnout on a Tuesday night for a conservative political rally in Denver. Liberal Denver of all places. I thought Romney’s nod to the Creator at the beginning of his speech was a nice comeback to the WPA meme the leftists were spreading around the web yesterday.
Let’s see how Obambam’s rally in Denver City Park plays out today. Looks like the weather could be a factor. Ironic that the one who would roll back the sea can’t order up a nice day for his rally.
Bryan,
We were among the turned-away, and I grant you I have no proof, but I’d say at least as many were turned away. More, we persisted through hours of parking-lot-like highway and went around when the exit was closed, then walked miles from where we could park — in a great big throng. AND I’d say we were in the middle of it, or further up than that, meaning there were a boatton of people behind us. Most of the turned away were working age, I was probably one of the oldest at nearing 50.
I’ll be honest–Mitt Romney, if elected, has a genuine chance here for something classic. Don’t know if he’ll take it, and he might try to choose establishment over people, which will mean the opportunity to retain this enthusiasm will be missed.***
But the opportunity is there nonetheless for an “era of reasonably okay feelings”.
Taking the establishment view on the subject does not automatically win you the people. I think the preference cascade on whether liberalism, the MSM, and the Establishment have lost credibility has reached a self-sustaining momentum in the “yes” direction, and I think if he is elected, it should be proof positive the MSM no longer is the overriding factor in American politics. Which means Mitt Romney should govern the Executive Branch to reflect that reality–that the people now determine power and prestige in America, not the MSM.
****For example–the people, as a mass, are not crying out for an solution to illegal immigration, other than securing the borders. After that, there is no great outcry one way (“come out of the shadows”) or the other. They neither want to condone it nor go on a house to house witch hunt. They just want the law enforced. They simply don’t care about whatever Dem and GOP politicos think is necessary to retainor win Hispanic support in the future. Why should they? They are by and large neither Hispanic nor politico, and they live in the present here and now, not 2030. What would they get out of the deal besides a bill?
