Huffington Post Publishes Racist Column

It’s a column by cable talking head Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, titled “The 15 Most Overrated White People.” A simple guide to whether something is racist or not is just to swap out the race being singled out for any other race. If I wrote a column called “The 15 Most Overrated Black People,” that would be racist and it wouldn’t get published here. So, Marc Lamont Hill’s column is racist.

That said, it’s an idiotic column that manages to make one or two good points while getting many things wrong. Christopher Columbus and William Shakespeare are not overrated, but Hill says they are. Columbus gets the usual evil conquistador treatment, while his persistence, bravery and leadership are never mentioned. Shakespeare is overrated, says Hill, because there were other good writers of his era and because many of his female characters aren’t three dimensional. Shakespeare wrote in an era when boys tended to play female parts on the stage. Rating his vast body of work by one of our current, shifting cultural standards is silly.

But still, Hill hits the mark a couple of times by accident.

Joel Osteen – The only preacher in America who can give an entire sermon without referencing a bible. Somehow, Osteen has convinced the world that he is a legitimate theologian rather than a schmaltzy self-help salesmen in pastor’s clothing.

Yup. I don’t have much to add to that. I might swap out Rick Warren for Osteen, or just add the latter to the list. Neither are overrated because they’re white. They’re overrated because they’re shallow preachers of the feel-good sermon. But as long as we’re overrating religious clergy, how about the Rev. Jesse Jackson? Jackson is one of the left’s reverends-in-name-only. He does not lead any actual church. He sold out one of his core principles — opposition to abortion — for the sake of acceptance and power within the Democratic Party decades ago. He cheats on his wife. He said he wanted to cut Barack Obama’s man parts off. Jackson is an openly racist shakedown artist who has lived off two things, his youthful association with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his ability to use race as a weapon, his entire adult life.

But Jackson can’t be on Hill’s list, for the obvious reason.

I do agree with this addition to any list of overrated people.

Bill Clinton – Despite bombing Africa and the Middle East regularly, approving the Welfare Reform Bill, Prison Litigation Reform Act, and “three strikes” legislation, Black folk regularly regard Clinton as a messianic figure. He may have been better than Bush, but Slick Willie was far from a savior.

My only argument with this is that Hillary should be added to it in a two-for-one. Bill Clinton’s signature achievement, the balanced budget, was forced on him by Newt Gingrich and the GOP-led Congress. The GOP took over Congress in the 1994 mid-terms because Clinton had misjudged the American people and lurched too far to the left. Clinton is a quick study, and ran back to the center just enough two years later to get himself re-elected, but it helped that he ran against dull Dole. Clinton also had the good fortune to be president during, but not after, the dot com bubble. People remember the robust economy of the 1990s, which Clinton had very little to do with.

Hillary Clinton is, in my opinion, the most overrated politician in America. She’s proven herself to be a detached, incompetent secretary of state who believes in the power of ethereal feel-good chatter every bit as much as President Obama does. She is now engaged in a cover-up of the terrorist assault in Benghazi, probably because she is the first secretary of state to have an ambassador killed in the field on her watch in a generation. It seems every day we learn anew how Washington ignored security requests from the experts in the field, with deadly results. Like Obama, she dishonestly blamed a movie for the terrorist attacks, and even spent $70,000 on ads in Pakistan to basically announce America’s surrender on that point. Hillary Clinton is a tin-eared, charmless hack who will go down in history as a forgettable to disastrous leader of America’s foreign policy.

But–

The Whole NHL (except Wayne Simmonds) – Has anyone noticed that the whole season is about to be canceled? Nope, didn’t think so.

I hadn’t noticed either because I don’t follow the NHL. I’m a football and soccer man. But why did Hill exempt Wayne Simmonds? Take a guess.

Why is the HuffPost publishing Marc Lamont Hill’s racist trash?
