Shouldn’t someone in the mainstream media ask the president how his threatened war on coal is going? Shouldn’t he be asked if energy prices have gotten high enough to satisfy him yet?
The war on coal won’t dissuade the president’s free cell phone brigades from supporting him, but it could move the needle among other voters. Obama’s coal policies have already cost hundreds of miners in Ohio their jobs.
Attacking the coal industry has broader effects on the US economy. Coal is mined in about a dozen states and provides about one-third of our nation’s electricity. Reducing the supply of coal leads to higher energy prices. The United States is also by far the world’s largest producer of coal. Obama’s attack on coal is an attack on the entire economy.
