At some point, Brooks will write an expose on himself that details how he is actually a lifelong committed leftist who was recruited decades ago to masquerade as a republican with the objective of undermining conservatism.
I disagree David is not dumb or a mole in the conservative intellectual movement. He’s just a prissy little weasel, intellectually dishonest snob and suck-up, out for himself, consumed by ambition, without any integrity and on the make.
He used to suck up to people like Bill Buckley and Bill Kristol. And they made him look better, more substantial for it.

This looks good, but what about the demographic with which Romney is serious trouble, Reporters from Real News Services (does not include Fox News or any conservative source). The 47% gaffe has probably had an impact on that demographic, dropping Romney’s support from almost non-existent to non-existent.
The 47% gaffe was only a gaffe for those who are desperately looking for mud to sling. Romney has said on several occasions quite publicly that he won’t have the time or resources to campaign everyone, and that some people aren’t going to vote for him no matter what. The 47% includes elitist leftists, environmentalist loonies, and quite a few middle class people who work and pay taxes, but are blissfully ignorant of a lot of things thanks to their “Real News Services” as you put it, Max.
Well put. And that ‘gaffe’ came amidst the real news of Obama trying to convince America the Muslim riots and murdering were about a film, instead of planned and coordinated for 9/11 in the face of his failing middle eastern policy.
Not that it’s terribly significant, but I believe the Gallup poll was last updated on Friday. Rasmussen, which was updated Saturday and includes only “likely” voters, has it 46 – 46.
Gallup updates everyday at 1:00pm eastern.
While we tend to trust Rasmussen more for various reasons, any model of likely voters is more an educated guess than anything else. Its accuracy depends on how accurately it models turnout, and I’m sure both candidates are having issues with that. Obama has been obsessing on his base, which is telling, and Romney never really sealed the deal with the Republican base, against which you have to guess how many will crawl over broken glass to vote against Obama in November.

the greater-than-50% rule suggests that team o will get 332 electoral votes, and team r 206
the direct betting is that team o has over a 70 percent chance of winning
which is it underline that general polls are useless

I really hope someone is keeping a list of reporters and pundits who pronounce Romney’s candidacy dead, so we can have a greatest hits list on November 8.

Forget “mainstream”, it is also inappropriate to call them “mass” media in this age of ever decreasing viewership and readership. We need a new moniker for this industry, but the closest I’ve heard is the “LameStream Media.” Unfortunately, while accurate, I don’t think that name will stick.

I was hoping the polls would keep showing Obama winning. Democrats are lazy, which is why so many are on some form of government support. So if theythink the 0bumbler is way ahead, they will NOT make the effort to go vote. Except, of course, the dead ones. I don’t really blame them. I don’t really see it as the polls “closing”. I see it as pollsters wanting a shred of credibility when this is all over.
The biggest shot Mitt took in the last month was Clinton’s Mediscare data dump. I have a suspicion by the time of the election that is going to be sliced, diced and completely ingrained into and accepted by the American public why Clinton/Obama is wrong and Romney/Ryan is right.

I’m beginning to think Romney is crazy like a fox. For a while now, there has been speculation that fiscal conservative and evangelicals aren’t really enthused about him and might stay home, whether over concerns over his fiscal conservative bona fides or his Mormonism. Now come three “gaffes.” One, he jumps into the Libyan narrative in a way that guarantees the media will jump ugly on him because he is beating up their boyfriends. Who do bedrock conservatives hate as much as Obama? The press. Then he has a secret video where he reveals two solid core beliefs in the conservative base: one, that dependency is killing our country’s finances and character (popular with the fiscal hawks) and two, that Palestinians want peace (and accurate view that is also popular with Israel-supporting evangelicals.)
If these are gaffes, they are brilliant. Are we certain Romney didn’t leak the videos?

Of what value are these statistics. This is not a general election. What does it matter that Obama leads in NY and CA by large margins, if it is of no value in the electoral collage?
Given that built-in advantage, a national tie in votes means that Obama is toast.

Like you said these are only Gaffes to the left, they don’t realize how radical they’ve become. Hopefully the independents see it. Regardless we can overwhelm them at the polls. Ignore the press and put pressure on anyone you can on the right to hold the line, especially the right wing media, we have to muzzle some of these traitors that don’t agree with Romney’s strategy. These are some of the same idiots who probably supported Mccain. It’s the start of the 4th qtr and we don’t have time for this, we need to threaten to cut their balls off if necessary, I’m sick of the weak kneeed RINOs. Oh and even if it rains molten lava on election day you better be at the polls.
