Iraq’s government is resisting a request by the U.S. government to block Iranian planes from traversing Iraqi air space to resupply Syria’s repressive ruling regime, according to The Washington Post.
Despite the certainty of U.S. officials that Iranian planes are transporting arms and other military equipment to Syria in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions prohibiting the export of Iranian weapons, Iraq’s government prefers to believe assurances from Iran that the planes contain only humanitarian aid.
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Vice President Joseph Biden, who has played a lead role in implementing the Obama Administration’s complacent Iraq policy, called Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on August 17 in a vain effort to press Baghdad to take action. The flights had resumed in July after being halted in March, apparently under pressure from Washington and Arab countries opposed to Syria’s Assad regime.
The same article reported that Iraqi Shiite militants from Iranian-backed militia groups have crossed the border to help the Syrian regime repress its own people. U.S. officials charge that in addition to arms, Iran has dispatched Islamic Revolutionary Guards from the elite Quds Force to train paramilitary thugs that the Assad regime has increasingly used to attack the opposition. Iran has also provided the regime with training and technology to intercept communications and monitor the Internet.
In addition to escalating its support for the Assad regime in Syria, Iran has greatly expanded its influence in Iraq after the departure of U.S. troops last December. Iraq’s Shiite-dominated government has steadily drifted into the orbit of its larger Shiite neighbor.
Prime Minister al-Maliki’s government has closed down the operations of the Voice of America inside Iraq and is set to release from jail Ali Musa Daqduq, a notorious Hezbollah terrorist who worked closely with the Quds Force to target U.S. troops and Iraqis opposed to Iran. A former CIA official described him as “the worst of the worst. He has American blood on his hands. If released, he’ll go back to shedding more of it.”
In addition to training the Iraqi police and military, perhaps we should have trained teh government in how to act like an ally and not an enemy.
God forbid that we should cut off any aid to Iraq. If Congress voted to rescind the aid dingleberry would just override the Congressional order and ship the money.

I’ve been excoriated at this site by PJM staff writers, called “bigot”, a “peice of work”, etc., for suggesting that “winning hearts and minds”, was futile. I’ve been saying that to anyone who will listen since 2003, long before American deaths had soared past the 6,000 mark, and more than a trillion poured down the thankless reeking maw of the Muslim scum in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ditto when I suggest that it is futile to enlist so-called ‘moderate Muslims’, (such as they are), because :
A.) they have no answer for the so-called ‘extremists’ -they’ll never have an answer…
B.) ‘moderate Muslims’ are as rare and thin on the ground as unicorns, and prove to be even less effective at turning their fellow believers away from murder and dreams of genocide and Islam Über Alles…
C.) while we moronically wait for Irshad Mangy and Dr. Jasser to turn the tide, tens of thousands more radicals and God knows what arrive on our shores or are birthed and nurtured in Islamic incubators of hatred in American mosques.
Again and again we see stories of their perfidy, treachery, and myriad betrayals – here on our own soil, we see them plot to murder, decapitate, bomb, maim, shoot, strangle, mow us down, and poison us. Abroad we see the same wherever they’ve obtained a foothold in the land of, what they revoltingly call “infidels” (as if their blood stained ideology were the truth). In slamic cesspools like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and of course Iraq and Afghanistan what we get is betrayal, lies, mayhem, and the a relentless campaign of Jihad. Why not just go with the flow?
Rather than continuing this moronic folly of engagement, rather than waste another dime on medicine or schools, we should get out of the way and grease the skids so they can have at it. Take a step back from your hive mind and think about it. Why not let Iran siphon off their wealth and resources to wage Jihad in Syria? Why not then encourage the Saudis to siphon their wealth to wage Jihad in Syria too?
For a century the Muslims have looted our wealth, and used that wealth, not to invent medicines or engines or lift their barbaric people out of the dark ages, but to birth billions of babies destined for Jihad. They have exported 20,000,000-30,000,000 to Europe, and perhaps 5-6,000,000 more to Canada and the USA. As the filth of Islam continues rise, we will see many millions more stampeding our borders. This is not a bug in the software of Islam… IT’S A FEATURE. The mayhem and terror is the cudgel Islam utilizes to destroy other civilizations and the whip they use to keep their thralls in line.
The place is ready to blow, and that tinder box is of heir creation. They’ve created this milieu over the last century – it should not be stopped because it cannot be stopped. Why should we get burned when Islam blows?
We must do what we can to deplete their coffers of Jihad, and that means isolating them from the oil. It means doing whatever is necessary to encourage them to squander their ill-gotten money, not by building more mosques and attacking us in our homelands, not by subverting our freedoms, but in paring down their literally exploding populations and their bloody loot.
No more Muslim immigration to the West! Reverse Muslim populations in the West by encouraging re-patriation to the House of Islam. Outlaw Sharia and it’s weapon, Jihad. Exploit the countless fissures between these barbarians and make sure nobody comes out on top for a LONG while. That would be a sane policy to pursue. Instead we squander trillions, obscenely waste our patriotic youth, and then get our panties in a wad when the Muslims inevitably betray us. Get a clue! This won’t be the last time our friends in Iraq claw out our eyes or stab us in the back…
Why should they obey the United States? Obama is WEAK and an empty suit. What’s he going to do, cry more?

It seems that a lot of people are having trouble understanding the muslim concept of gratitude when “kuffars” are involved. It’s kind of like a Missouri-Warhol River; a verbal mile wide, an actual inch deep, and flows for about 15 minutes.
All those interesting, Sunni-Shi’a-Alawite, Arab-Persian dynamics go right out the window when kuffars are involved. As Fouad Ajami has written, those are the lands of “I against my brother, my brother and I against our cousin, and my cousin, my brother, and I against the stranger.” And in those muslim lands, kuffars are always strangers and stranger always come last.
