In the address, Obama is expected to blame Republican obstructionism for stalling programs that he intended to aid economic recovery. He’ll likely shape — and sharpen — these criticisms to gird against Friday morning’s release of the latest unemployment numbers.
Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) has been chosen to give the Republican response both to Obama’s weekly address and his DNC speech.
It will be released early Saturday morning after the president’s weekly message.
