Another DNC day, another Nazi smear.
Adam Beam, a reporter for South Carolina’s The State newspaper, reported on Twitter this morning that South Carolina Democratic Party chairman Dick Harpootlian likened Republican GOP governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina to Eva Braun, the wife of Nazi tyrant Adolph Hitler.
S.C. Democratic Chairman Dick Harpootlian, never a loss for a quick quip, tossed a few stinging one-liners at the Wednesday delegation breakfast.
On Gov. Nikki Haley participating in daily news briefings in a basement studio at the NASCAR Hall of Fame: ‘She was down in the bunker a la Eva Braun.’
This marks the second time this week a major Democratic figure has compared a Republican to Nazis. California’s Democratic Chairman John Burton compared GOP vp nominee Paul Ryan to Nazi propagandist Josegh Goebbels at a DNC breakfast, and also called Ryan a “horse’s ass.” Burton later apologized and then left the DNC meeting for a root canal.
Can we officially call these Nazi references a coordinated campaign of dog whistles yet? And how about using “Braun” against an Indian-American? Isn’t that code to remind racist Democrats that Haley is, in fact, brown?
More: The more you unpack Harpootlian’s comments, the worse they appear. Likening a sitting governor to a Nazi figure is bad enough, but Harpootlian managed to pack an attack on Haley’s gender into that by comparing her to Hitler’s mistress. The image he used and that’s largely held of Eva Braun is that she was the mindless mistress to a monster, who went along with whatever Hitler wanted out of a mixture of personal relationship and the access to power that the relationship gave her. Braun was, in other words, a whore for the reich.
That’s who Dick Harpootlian thinks the governor of his state is: A whore for the GOP.
His comment is thoroughly disgusting and indefensible. He should do the honorable thing and resign his chairmanship immediately.
Let’s not forget Pat Lehman, from the Kansas delegation to the DNC:

Not a major figure, but surely an elder of the Democratic party.

Harpootlian has also said “I don’t want to buy the black vote, I just want to rent it for a day.” Disgusting piece of trash.

I’m getting tired of liberals posting how beautiful and brilliant she is. If she were not the First Lady, she would just be another average-looking, wide-hipped, over-spending suburban Mom. Yet, they worship her like she’s Jackie O.
Guys named “Harpootlian” shouldn’t make jokes. You don’t hear Reince Priebus cracking wise at other people’s expense. Just goes to show that Republicans with funny names are nicer than Democrats with funny names. But we knew that.

As seen over the weekend with the chair of the MA Dems and his “honorary girl” remarks about Sen. Scott Brown it appears that state party chair occupants are real scared of females. Vladimir Put(a)in would be right at home. Come to think of it, can Pu$$y Riot be hired for the proposed counter-celebration to take place at Bank Of America Field?
As a South Carolina native, I can tell you that Harpootlian has always been a obnoxious jerk. This remark is just the latest of many.
Just to add to my comment, a lot of the “good old boys” in South Carolina, Republican and Democrat, feel exactly the same about Gov. Haley. How dare a woman have the temerity to be the governor of SC! Sexism is alive and well among a certain group of SC politicians who simply don’t like having a woman in charge of their boys’ club.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
They’re terrified a new administration will be serious about the rule of law, and what investigations might uncover.
Whenever the democrats call a Republican a racist or a Nazi or something they are just projecting their own inadequacies and issues. They are like little children, reduced to name calling (the darn poopy heads).
