Obama campaign spokeswomen Stephanie Cutter is back with another newscaster-esque video in which she assails the Romney campaign. In the video released Tuesday, Cutter first accuses the Romney campaign of taking the president’s “You didn’t build that!” speech out of context and then attacks Romney’s time at the helm of Bain Capital. That attack takes a new line. Instead of accusing Bain of outsourcing, it accuses Bain of taking a bailout, and accuses some Bain companies of taking tax breaks. Cutter, without evident irony, then says: “[T]hese attack ads make you wonder does [Romney] even understand how our economy works? You and I know how it works. We build our businesses through hard work and initiative. With the public and private sectors working together to create a climate that helps us grow.”
The president’s own July 13 remarks, though, denigrate hard work: “I’m always struck by people who think, ‘Well it must be because I was just so smart.’ There are a lot of smart people out there! ‘It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.’ Let me tell you, there are a whole bunch of hard working people out there!”
Cutter should study up on attitudes within the Obama Environmental Protection Agency to learn about how much of the public sector actually deals with the private sector. Two of its regional administrators, both Obama appointees, have staked out stridently anti-business attitudes. Former regional administrator Al Armendariz admitted that he enjoyed “crucifying” businesses to terrify others. Current regional admin Curt Spalding admitted that he wishes the EPA could tell communities that depend on coal production to “go away.” Armendariz resigned once his comments came to light, but the president has taken no action at all against Spalding.
Cutter’s video is below:
Regarding the campaign’s “context” argument, the context of the speech does not help. Obama ripped off (without attribution) comments delivered earlier this year by Massachusetts Democrat Elizabeth Warren, an academician with no real business experience and who has been caught up in a scandal regarding her self-identification as a Cherokee Indian without evidence. Obama sneered at the idea of individual work and good ideas leading to business success, crediting collective action more than individual initiative for businesses that thrive. He suggested that government has an entirely benevolent role with regard to business, never acknowledging that a government powerful enough to help business grow can also create an environment that makes it more difficult to survive. He also never took into account the fact that some people succeed in business and some do not, despite the fact that we all use the same infrastructure he praised in his speech, and which has never really been much of a political question. Obama also credited the government for building the Golden Gate bridge and building the Internet, neither of which is entirely accurate. The government actually stood in the way of building the Golden Gate Bridge for years.

Didnt I see this chick in an episode of River Monsters?? OH WAIT, that fish was “The Ball Cutter”, known for attacking men’s genitals. Smells the same…probably has the same teeth and anger issues as well.
She’s an “improvement” over Debbie Blabbermouth Putz, but that’s not saying much. Repackaging mendacity still leaves mendacity when you open the box.
BTW, where has the “Blabbermouth” been lately?
I’m picturing a roll of duct tape and a broom closet at DNC headquarters.
Obama first turned me off when he ignored and then belittled GOP leadership members trying to discuss the economy and such with him early in his admin.
His arrogance was on crude display throughout the televised session, especially his sneering rebuke of Rep. Paul Ryan’s take on what the economy needs. Ryan was right. Obama has been arrogantly wrong ever since. Hasn’t learned a thing, except how better to abrasively belittle opponents. Stick a fork in him; he’s done. At last.
Can’t they get a spokesman who has ANY business experience? They don’t have to be a CEO of a fortune 500, nor something phony baloney like “community organizer”, but maybe someone who has been 2nd shift manager of an ice cream stand?
Someone who understands treating the customer promptly and courteously, making sure the place is clean, directing the staff as customers ebb and flow into the store, making sure that the inventory is sufficient to cover demand, interviewing and rejecting potential employees, making sure the money is secured and deposited in the bank, and 100 other details of running a money-making business.
I know 18 year olds who have been on the job for less than 1 year, who know more about business than any of these talking heads.
Obama still cannot find a single Democrat with any math skills… Why does he always get ” Talking Parrots” who only know how to repeat his talking points?
& Nutter will be a post-November CNN talk show.
But, but, she’s cute and she’s blond and she’s got big…. well, she’s a cute blond. Doesn’t everyone know you have to make allowances for cute blonds? I mean if you disagree with her she might pout or stamp her little foot or something.
Thanks Bryan for listening to her and showing this video to the hundreds of crazy people here at PJM who forward those crazy emails.
As for the content she was right on as Mitt has benefited by many government tax breaks to not only enrich himself but also his partners while sticking the tab to the taxpayer. He does want to gut education and R&D (isn’t that what LBO kings do) and give himself big tax breaks. He doesn’t even want to get rid of the carried interest tax break that enables him to get 15% tax rate.
So thanks for pointing out that Romney and his supporters like distorting Obama’s record and like the lies.
