Romney Reacts to the Dismal June Jobs Report

Speaking in Wolfeboro, NH today, Mitt Romney reacted to the bleak June Jobs report, noting that the president’s campaign slogan doesn’t match reality. “‘Forward’ doesn’t look a lot like forward to the millions and millions of families that are struggling today.” Romney said that if elected president, he would approve the XL Pipeline which President Obama scuttled, which would create jobs. He also said that he would cut taxes to make America competitive again, and would repeal ObamaCare.

“The president doesn’t have a plan, just the same old ideas of the past to get the economy going, that have failed,” Romney said, adding that the unemployment rate remains “unacceptably high.”

President Obama will react to the jobs report later today. He is on his “Betting on America” bus tour, but news broke Thursday that the president lost another bet on “green” energy:

Much like Solyndra LLC, a California solar-panel manufacturer with a $535 million federal loan guarantee that went bankrupt, Nevada Geothermal Power (NGP) has incurred $98 million in net losses over the past several years, has substantial debts and does not generate enough cash from its current operations after debt-service costs, an internal audit said.

“The company’s ability to continue as a going concern is dependent on its available cash and its ability to continue to raise funds to support corporate operations and the development of other properties,” NGP auditors said in a financial statement for the period ending March 31.

“Consequently, material uncertainties exist which cast significant doubt upon the company’s ability to continue as a going concern,” the statement said.
