Move over Senator Marco Rubio!
Step aside Congressman Allen West!
Make room for another shining Republican star on the ascent in the Florida sky, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
While it was Congressman Allen West who ended up making national headlines with his brief remarks this past Saturday in Ft. Lauderdale at the Broward County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner — with a message that, while fighting on the “ideological battlefield” for control of the nation’s political landscape conservatives “must be like sharks that smell blood in the water, you must attack,” — it was Attorney General Bondi’s speech that kept the packed ballroom audience spellbound.
Ms. Bondi was the opening speaker and for at least 30 minutes spoke with passion and eloquence about the many difficult battles confronting her office in a state as complex and crime-ridden as Florida.
Bondi regaled the audience with exciting tales of hunting down and closing illegal pill-mills and wrestling with the big bad EPA. She also railed against President Obama and his Justice Department, and then captured everyone’s attention with her eyewitness account from the front row of the mother of all Supreme Court battles, Obama Care, in which she is the lead attorney general.
This is a gift Bondi inherited from the previous Florida attorney general, Bill McCollum, when she won the office in November 2010 (her first elected post) and continued Florida’s fight against Obama Care that could end up paying her huge national political dividends.

And you thought the war on women was over. Just wait till the DNC gets a hold of this. If she is a mother, they will call her a bad one for working so hard and not paying enough attention to her children, and so on. I have been watching this woman from afar and I can see she can get the conservative message accross a broad range of audiences. I think you are right, VP?, well time will only tell. She got more cajones than some of the Republican men do.
If she’s so good, why doesn’t she step up, and relieve the current special prosecutor in the Zimmerman/Martin case. The special prosecutor is making a mockery of the criminal justice system (see Alan Dershowitz’s comments).
+100
Whose vote are the Republicans going to lose if Bondi dumps Angela Corey? Corey has given Bondi a perfect excuse to fire her because of the gratuitous and unsupportable charges that she brought against Zimmerman. While Corey doesn’t rise to Mike Nifong level of misconduct, the AG should still sanction her.
Why? To stop Corey from imploding? Bondi should certainly keep clear and let Corey dig a deeper hole to better bury the remains of her imploded self.
Agree. Corey has dug a hole so deep she cannot get out of. Let her keep digging.
The AG’s job is to make sure justice is done and not score points in a political game.
Because the first duty of an AG is to assure that those that are charged are done so in an proscribed fashion with sufficient facts to make it stick. That is not assured here with what little facts have been brought forward for the indictment. It also shows a lack of oversight on behalf of the AG.
Proscribed???
Some remedial reading is indicated.
“…it is doubtful that Allen West will ever hold the office of governor or senator.
But with Pam Bondi the opposite is true.”
?Qué?
West is a conservative firebrand and it is very doubtful he could get elected state wide. But he does have a national following which keeps him rolling in the dough as a fundraiser for himself and to offer help for other conservatives.
West had to move north to Martin County to try to keep his Congressional seat.
Does not bode well for eventual statewide higher office.
Are you less confused by my statement now?
Perfectly clear and agree. West is quite over the top. Sometimes sounds like an old Hollywood’s cartoonized Marine.
It was old cartoonized Marines who invented “over the top.” It used to mean something, too, before the boys of the chorus took it over.
Actually I think it was invented by the French. They surprised everyone, including themselves, with their courage in WWI, and went ‘over the top’ many a time. Too bad it didn’t stick. The generation which fought in WWII retained little of the same stubbornness. WWII French were much more like Franco-Prussian War French than WWI French. Gotta wonder what happened in the late 19th century to turn a whole generation of French citizenry into bold warriors who rans straight into the teeth of machine gun fire over and over again because of their idiotic generals…and why their children gave us the joke: “I have some rifles for sale. French military surplus! Dropped once, never fired.”
have you ever bin with the forlorn ? what do you know about going over the top?
Perceptive piece, Ms. Adams. Pam Bondi is a rising star ignored by the mainstream media. They won’t ignore her much longer….
The mainstream media ignores Fox News until Fox News stomps all over them.
Bondi will be branded as a Fox News blonde and the main stream media will dismiss her at their own peril.
As a Floridian, I love Allen West and hope t see him as President some day. Pam Bondi? Not so much. I get less and less impressed with her as the days go by and am already beginning to regret voting for her last time. Doubt I’ll support her in any future races. Many of her positions are nonsense, just like this article that calls her a rising star and disses West. By the way, who the heck is Myra Adams and why should anyone care what she thinks?
Angela Corey was appointed by the Governor and I don’t the the AG has any say in it. Corey is a political hack who should be disbarred over the shoddy and politically motivated indictment, but we’ll probably have to settle for the end of her political career.
I also like Allen West very much, think he is a great conservative leader and have had two exclusive interviews with him on this site. However if someone has to leave their district because more independents and democrat voters were included through re-districting it is not a good sign that West could win statewide or nationally.
West appeals to true conservatives and because of that he is 2nd to John Boehner in national Congressional fundraising.
Allen West has a great future, I just doubt it will be as a senator or president who usually require a much wider voter base to be elected.
Here are my interviews with West.

the two page article format & the pop-up that pushes for e-mail loads is getting old . . .
Unfortunately, she and Rick Scott are the ones who appointed Angela Corey to prosecute George Zimmerman in a racially motivated appeasement. She is hurt permanently in Florida amongst strong 2nd amendment conservatives.
Simple series of questions for the AG—was the first Zimmerman investigation adequate or not? Was reopening justified or not? What is the proper role of state AG’s in politically-charged cases? Has that role been executed? As a hypothetical, if a politically-influential group was demanding prosecution, and the case had national attention, and the case was so-so at best, and
laughable at worst, what would she do? If George Zimmerman is acquitted what should be done? What if he is convicted? And does she have any opinion on the idea that if the trial is often the punishment, perhaps it should be harder to indict ham sandwiches?
And to be clear, the time for action on things that can be acted upon is *now*. Some things can’t, since it is now a criminal case. But otherwise, my guess is she could be taken, so she might want to can the usual sorts of political calculations.
There was no indictment of the Ham Sandwich, because there was no grand jury.
Zimmerman was denied his 5th Amendment right to a grand jury for a “Notorious Crime” by Angela Corey, who also ignored FL’s own recommendations in it’s own Criminal Procedure that stated that “Indictments by Information” should never be brought by an unelected prosecutor.
Does this mean that Andrew Sullivan is going to become obsessed with her vagina too?Just askin.
My first thought: has Barbara Olson been reincarnated?
One can hope.
Oh lord I hope not. My politics skew way to the right and I’m also a prosecutor in Florida. I have never met Ms. Bondi but her reputation among lawyers and judges in Florida, both left and right, is not very high at all. I’ve never met anyone that has had dealings with her that came away impressed. In fact, one described her as Obama like. Good credentials, but has no idea what she’s doing.
Pam Bondi is a bad joke. Thanks for pointing that out, Tatler, but it seems your audience doesn’t get it.
I voted for her but am troubled by her role in the Zimmerman investigation and by her fashionable drug-warring against “pill mills”. She may be good but it’s too soon to say; she needs much more scrutiny and time in the public eye before national voters can accurately evaluate her. Charisma and good speeches aren’t enough, as we should have learned by now.
And when Rick Scott asked for the A.G. to turn over their books for an audit, what did she do?
She rejected the request.
And when Rick Scott tapped her to find a special prosecutor for the Zimmerman case, who did she find: Angela Corey, the nutjob that openly violated Zimmerman’s 5th Amendment right to a Grand Jury for an “Infamous Crime”. (A crime in which one can be sentenced to a penitentiary, according to the Supreme Court).
Pam Bondi is a joke in FL and I for one will be voting for her opponent next election.
She caved in to the TBTF banks in the fraudclosure suit. They got off with a pittance penalty after bringing the US to its financial knees. And they’re still pulling the strings whether BO’s or Mitt’s. If we don’t make the necessary financial changes the rest of these wedge issues are the meaningless distraction they are designed to be by the power elite.
As a resident of Florida, I am not so sold on Bondi. In my view, she caved to the banksters and fraudsters in the mortgage foreclosure frauds. It is easy to take on pill mills. It is easy to take on ObamaCare. It is hard to take on the finance industry. But, consider which has the most long term implications for Florida.
This is the same woman who participated in the attempted railroading by Gov Charlie Crist of five Bay Count Sheriffs Department boot camp guards over the unfortunate death of a 14 year old who suffered from sickle cell trait.I wouldn’t trust this RINO LAWYER for nothing
Did she ever marry her shack-up?
Allen West hasn’t yet come anywhere near fulfillment of his political potential.Bondi is a lightweight.
West is not yet anywhere near fulfillment of his polititcal potential. Bondi is a lightweight.
Price supports for criminals and terrorists. All REAL Republicans favor them.
I’m talking Prohibition. In case you were wondering.
