This is why we can’t have nice politics. Well, this and the fact that Democrats tend to be socialists in poor disguise.
Chris Christie has said he’s “not looking to become vice president,” but the New Jersey governor said today the presumptive GOP nominee might be able to convince him otherwise.
“He might be able to convince me. He’s a convincing guy,” Christie said during a visit to a high school AP history class, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Christie is a much talked about veepstakes contender and has said that he would “listen” to Romney if he came calling. But in Plainsboro, N.J., today he seemed to open the door a bit more than it has been when a student asked him if he would consider being Romney’s running mate.
Over the weekend, Christie was ABC News’ guest at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner and found himself the butt of several of comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes.
“Gov. Christie, I think you might be misunderstanding New Jersey’s slogan. It’s not the Olive Garden state,” Kimmel said.
Kimmel’s throwaway line is relevant, why? Because ABC felt like working in a mention of its late-night talk show host.
What do you think of Christie as veep? The debate with Biden would be must-see — doddering dolt versus guy who whips union thugs for fun. How weird would it be for the Republican ticket to be composed of two blue-staters?

It would all be great till Christie went all “listen, idiot” over those of us who feel–with good reason–that a compromise on amnesty is just setting up the base floor for the next danegeld of political correctness. Pity.
Christie has some wonderful qualities … but he would be a terrible choice. He has no understanding of the threat of Islamism. None. He wouldn’t be a good influence on Romney in that respect — one of primary importance. Let’s hope and pray he’s not the one.
Rubio would be a much better choice for many reasons.
William Howard Taft, watch out.
Hey, I’m pretty sure Kimmel has already used that “Olive Garden State” line more than once on his nightly show.
But look, Christie really is, um, uh, perhaps more than we can ask of just one man, by which I mean more than we can accept of one man, um, well you know what I mean. And he has made a few too many RINO statements, independent of his circumference. He can be Romney’s BFF or something but not his VP, I hope.
Oh. My. God.
Can you imagine a debate between Biden and Christie?
Bambi versus Godzilla.

Olive Garden is still a lot better than eating Fido, just sayin’.
Christie would be an OK VP, I still have a slight preference for Rubio or Ryan. Or Liz Cheney. A debate with Biden would not even be fair and lately we’re all about fairness, right? And…FORWARD. (off the cliff and into the abyss)
– a “Big and Tall” ticket..
I would love to see Ryan or Rubio as VP. Christie is a personal hero of mine but needs to finish his first term as Governor.
As to Bambi versus Godzilla? I am hoping that’s what the first presidential debate between Obama and Romney is described as the morning after.
There is no “perfect” GOP candidate for VP. Several good choices. Let’s not do to the VP race as we did to the Pres race. We absolutely do not need to be providing 0 with ammunition.
He sounds terrific BUT he is much, Much, MUCH TOO FAT! Therefore a terrible image and a burden on sensible health care ideas.
I think Christie as VP selection would be insane.
Leave him to tend to the NJ moonbats, where he can do some good.
The Democrats are not really socialists. I would describe them more as being “pseudo-democratic oligarchs”. They are an oligarchy that has successfully manipulated and perverted our system of democracy to keep themselves in perpetual positions of power.
