“Unseemly” doesn’t seem to do this development justice:
Sabrina Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases “I Am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon,” according to filings made last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton is seeking the trademarks for use on “Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin,” and other products.
The March 21 USPTO applications, each of which cost $325, were filed by an Orlando, Florida law firm representing Fulton.
There is a possibility that the family is doing this to protect his name and the rights to use it. The specificity of products mentioned, though, lend themselves to the appearance of cashing in.
How much do her top salesmen (Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton) make for promoting her new line of products?
I won’t say anything bad about a grieving mother.
I find Obama’s rediculous comment about Trayvon looking like his son way more disgusting. Talk about cashing in on the moment–typical Obama.
Well, then allow me, since being a racist by using terms like “they’ve” in relation to killing her son implies grief doesn’t raise IQs. I’ve hear this “they” nonsense so many times in reading the black press it’s incredible. “They” is whitey. If she’d raised her son to not slap around bus drivers he might be alive and she might not fit the bill of “they’ve.
This woman wants to blame me for her son’s death rather than himself or the guy who shot him, fine. I’m not sending any flowers.
Trayvon looked as though he was up to no good for a reason. Evidence has surfaced that he was, in fact, a drug-peddling gang-banger. In addition, that particular neighborhood had been plagued with burglaries, and he was very likely casing the place.
If I see someone dressed as a hippie, I assume he’s a hippie. Dress as a hipster, assume hipsterdom. Dress gangsta, and I’ll assume gang member. Even though my nephew wears baggy pants. And he’s a good Jewish kid.
Style based upon prison and robbery is not good.

I hate to ask this, but are there any mothers here, who if placed in the same situation as this mother with a dead son, would ever think to trademark the son’s name?
Does something seem terribly twisted in unseemly in the mindset that would think to do this?
I’m sure the woman grieved, at least I hope she is. But this sounds like a rate of return more than a grieving mom.
Maybe she should trademark “W.T.F.” also….I think this one has just jumped the shark, folks. Good work, Barry.

George Zimmerman for Yeoman of the year, Richard Jewell edition….because I think most juries are going to conclude that it is at least reasonable (as in reasonable doubt) to surmise that young Mr. Martin, mad at being suspended, really did not like being followed and threw the first punch–because you do have to work somewhat at it to get suspended three times. With jewelry being found on you one of those times. And doing vandalism. So good work, left. Good work, New York “white Hispanic” Times. Mr. Holder, why don’t you summon the Sanford folks up to your place again to be shown the instruments of the Inquisition once more? Barry, given how you try to intimidate people, I in fact could see Mr. Martin as your son. Doesn’t mean Trayvon threw the first punch, but it is somewhat “murky” now, yes? Not all quite following the desired narrative, is it?

No surrender on this issue. The era of political correctness starts dying. Today. Here’s a new narrative for you–George Zimmerman lived in a neighborhood that seemed to be on a path to go down the tubes, but he wasn’t going to let it. Martin, on the other hand, may have already turned towards a life that said himself first, foremost and always, and everybody else be damned. Doesn’t mean he was that way, but just my saying that caveat already shows more restraint than most have shown Zimmerman (myself very partially included).
This thing is a disgrace now. And we are not abandoning George Zimmerman, because he in fact may have been attacked. If Martin had the right to walk the streets where he wishes, so did George Zimmerman.
Horatius – Thank you for the link. Sounds like his mother is trying to obscure what a troubled youth Martin was. Also, from Bryan’s story, it does sound like she is trying to cash in, and so she has to paint Martin as being something other than he was. Is it possible she dreamed up this whole thing to be able to sue the Sanford PD for gazzillions of dollars? I would have to say, though, the more we learn about Martin the less angelic he appears. The LSM should stop using those ‘undated file photos’ that show him to be a 10-year old with a halo over his head. (Last six words are a joke.)
I keep wondering how this affair could become more squalid. There always seems to be one more way.
We can presume that whatever hoodie or other product ultimately is marketed will include the “my son” quote from the president.
This untimely death has come with untimely expenses. For example, burial, travel fees and possibly attorney fees. The sad part is that others are trying to cash in at the family’s grieving expense. Most likely the patent was the attorney’s idea because national media is running with this story and people trying to make a buck are already selling hoodies with his name and likeness. Boo to those making a buck at the family’s expense. Anything gathered should go to the family or to a fund that promotes the education of racial equality or a scholarship. So what if he just got suspended from school, so what! He was just a kid, an unarmed kid having a bad day. He didn’t deserve to be accosted and killed! And now his family has to pick up the pieces.
“Grieving family”? Would your son sit in a morgue for three days before you called the police to report he didn’t come home from a short trip to buy snacks?

Then he shouldn’t have jumped Zimmerman. How many times is “an unarmed kid[sic]” allowed to slam a man’s head into the sidewalk before the man is allowed to defend himself?
Why is so much effort, attention, political capital, energy and civil rights being expended on a neighborhood altercation resulting in a firearm being discharged and a death resulting (one of hundreds every day)by this administration?
Lets examine the principle points:
1) A gun was involved. (Gun Control)
2) A black teenager and mixed ethnic person were involved.(Racially motivated?)
3) Incident occured in a battleground State for democrats.
4) With a weakening of Black Conservative voter sentiment for Obama, this serves as a platform for him to present himself as the true standard bearer for ALL blacks in America. (isolating Hispanic-Jewish vote with this political calculation).
5) Allows Black Civil Rights groups to unfurl their preparedness for upcoming strife, early Spring into Summer and Fall.
6) OWS’ers and their minions will soon converge with this Black Civil Rights movement by supporting and promoting whatever chant of the day is.
7) Mr. Obama, having expressed his support for this teenager, aligns himself with New Black Panthers, Black Caucus, Rev. Sharpton/Jackson, Stoakley Charmicael, Malcolm X, Farrakahn, Angela Davis, Rev. Wright, and every fellow traveler, left leaning marxist/leninist (anti-colonialist) group in the USA.
8) Mr. Obama is losing OBAMACARE battle.
9) QE III is on its way.
10) Failed foreign policy decisions. Muslim Brotherhood dominates ALL Muslim countries.
11) Exploding USA gas prices.
12) Middle Eastern diplomacy is falling apart…has to beg Russians to ‘give him a pass!” A Groveling President of the USA asking Russians for some breathing room…can one imagine this administration’s show of weakness???
Almost looks like President Jimmy Carters last six months in office. Mr. Obama is a dangerous, desperate outgoing President.
