The polls in Illinois have closed. Early exit polls show Mitt Romney with a 10 point lead. He came into the day with a 14 point lead over Rick Santorum. Considering the margins of error, a low double digit lead isn’t a shock.
Fox has county-by-county results here.
The usual dynamics seem to apply to Illinois: Romney does well in the urban and collar counties, Santorum does well in more rural areas. If that holds, Romney should take Illinois.
Update: Fox News projects that Mitt Romney has won Illinois. More to come.

I don’t see a path for any of the other candidates at this point. The numbers are just too forbidding for the other guys.
Sigh.
Gimme my Mitt sticker.
I’ll not so much argue on behalf of Mitt as to argue against a second term for Obama. And I’ll be driving and cajoling the Mittsters to the right with every breath I have.
The primary areas that Mitt wins are areas that NO Republican will win in a general election. That does not bode well. Does anyone really expect a Republican to carry Chicago???? Ha!
From the link: whoo hoo, Mitt beat Rick 2 to 1 in Crook county.
The Republican party is dead, and it may be America that gets lain in it’s grave. Mitt vs. Obama makes me think of the line in the movie trailer for AVP; “No matter who wins, we lose!”. Maybe it’s time for the TEA party to tell the GOP to go pound sand! Oh, well, it looks like I’ll be voting for conservatives down ticket, but Gary Johnson for President. Since Mitt will probably win my state anyway, at least I’ll be able to sleep at night with a clear concience knowing that I didn’t help enable the big government RINO Progressives.
