I mourn the death of Andrew Breitbart. I didn’t know the guy personally, aside from the exchange of a few mutual admiration emails, so I have no further insights into the man or his personality beyond what his many friends and colleagues have already written.
But my mourning is mixed with a sense of frustration. Great men like Andrew Breitbart are not great simply because of their own personal actions and achievements; they’re great because they show us the way to be just like them.
A good father goes fishing and feeds his sons every night. A great father teaches his sons how to fish so they can feed themselves.
A good muckraking investigative journo-activist breaks shocking stories that change the political landscape. A great muckraking investigative journo-activist — like Andrew Breitbart — shows us that anybody can do what he does.
Because that’s the secret of Andrew Breitbart’s career: He rose to the top despite not possessing any unique skills.
He wasn’t a great writer. Not bad; just serviceable. He didn’t have a PhD. He personally wasn’t very handy with a camera. (Though he certainly knew what to do with newsworthy photos or footage once he got his hands on them.) He wasn’t an economic theorist. He wasn’t a beacon of moral purity. He wasn’t a deep philosopher. He wasn’t even a professional journalist.
But whatever he did, he did with gusto. And not just run-of-the-mill gusto: extreme gusto.
When he got the ball, he never fumbled. He sent would-be tacklers flying. And even if his team wasn’t on offense, he’d snatch the ball anyway and score a backfield touchdown before the other guys even knew what happened.
One thing we must learn from Andrew’s life: If Breitbart could do it, anyone could do it. We no longer have any excuse. America’s bloggers and citizen-journalists and new-media mavens need to get off our collective asses and make news happen.

One of the secrets of Andrew Breitbart’s success was that he made sure of his position before attacking and didn’t attack in other ways that could obfuscate or undermine other things he did; he didn’t cry “Wolf” and that is why people feared him because people who essentially lie fear truth.
Breitbart wasn’t a very good debater but when he took a position he did his best to ensure the other side had little left to debate with.
Great point. When Breibart came out with something on somebody, he had the real goods. And he didn’t overeach and make an attack he could not prove, and he didn’t embillish his message with unproven details to make it more sexy. Fortunately his leftists antagonists have not learned that lesson, and constantly poison their own message by msxing their real exposures with forged documents, ala Dan Rather, or that guy that leaked the documents on an anti global warming group, but had to add his own forged summary to make his story seem better. That is the reason why the left hated him so much, because he was always truthful, and always won.
Reagan learned that lesson as well, his critiques often had a deceptive quality of mildness to them, combined with humility and self deprecation, even as he hit the target hard. And when he made statements that seemed extreme at the time, like the evil empire and the Berlin wall falling, he ended up being proven right.
Some right wing commentators need to learn from Briebart as well, like Limbaugh. We already had a winning case on the contraceptive religious freedom issue, no need to dilute that case by calling young women sluts. Let the left make that mistake, we can win on the facts. That does not mean we have to hold back from atacks because they might upset people, just make sure they are completely truthful, and sound enough that any counterattack from the left makes the left look worse, not us.
Zombie, truer words were never typed. I’ve had heretofore a hundred (nay, a million!) excuses for not getting in there and mixing it up the way you and my lord Andrew Breitbart do and did. That’s got to change, and only I can change it…
I have been duking it out with the other side since 9/11/01. My op-ed writings attest to my positions, and I don’t care what the other side thinks of me, or what they do in response.
Along the way I have made many enemies-friends too.Every time I receive a belligerent missive I know I have made a difference. To wit, IF we get under their skin we place them off balance.
Never, ever back down. The rabid left smell fear, but they DO respect strength. The best way to honor those we respect/admire is to follow (at least somewhat) in their footsteps.
Onward and upward.
YES!
A masterwork of a column, as usual.
Thank you. Deeply inspiring.
Thank you, Zombie! Courage–
WWBD? Yes!
Thanks, Zombie.
Since reading of his death, I’ve been thinking of this scene from Mr. Roberts.
YES! Perfect!!!
No one will replace him but… Andrew showed us the way. The libs are so use to us being in the prone position while arguing with them (and the fact that they “have” the media) we cowed in response. Andrew noticed we were always on defense; no more my friend. Once he showed us liberals fall apart if they have to defend themselves, there issue, or their ideology it should be just a matter of time. It is time to go on offense.
The key question to be asked of liberals with every response we give is…Where did you get that idea from? It will inevitably be Marx, Hitler, Stalin, Engels, Mao, or Stalin (maybe Bismark, but they aren’t that aware), and if they are unaware we should point that out forcefully.
I just finished Liberal Fascism; Jonah Goldberg. It is all laid out there. Most libs don’t want to do the 1984 Orwell fascism by the states boot on your neck-forever!! It is more like Huxley’s; Brave New World where the state hugs you to death with fascism that tells you what toilet, and what light bulbs please mother earth the most. How much better things would be if you just go along.
I will not go along ever again, my country has slid as far down into socialism as I can stand. Remember Andrew’s CPAC words; “no matter who the nominee is, not voting for our candidate is a vote for THEM!! You are on their side.”
What about, as in the present, when voting for our candidate IS voting for Them?
Would not Breitbart see Romney as a White Obama? Just another CFR Member-puppet? Another Crook busily engaged in fiat-fractional banking?Control the politicos by printing them an endless supply of money, while taking a big cut for themselves? And laughing as we, the unwashed but working masses, ignorantly perpetuate them in office? We need an Hercules, to clean the Stygian Stables. And we ain’t got one!
You don’t need to be Hercules or even Renaldo Maximus to be an effective President. Understand the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and history to lead America.
Several of our best President were unheralded and unknown when the took office. Pray for our country and do YOUR best to lead and speak out for a New American Revolution supporting our Constitution and destroying the totalitarian Socialist-Marxists who are destroying our Nation.
Dr. Ron Paul is the ONLY presidential candidate that swears to tell the truth and he stands by the Constitution and the values that our founding fathers represented at the origin of our nation. For those of you still in doubt about Dr. Paul….ask yourself…in terms of Good vs. Evil….the simple truth…what side are you on?
Not the prone position 11bravo. As you know, that is the most stable shooting position. More likely, the kneeling position, eyes downcast, palms up……
Is this meant to compare Breitbart to Jesus? The cult of Breitbart
No tadcf. This isn’t a cult of Breitbart. What Would X Do is used fairly widely with different names depending on the situation and has never been exclusively about Jesus. It isn’t a religious reference but instead is about learning from the greats and taking their lessons to heart.
I consider this my first WWBD response to the inane left.
So you are an implant?
Breitbart’s flouting of political correctness was one of the most important things he did. Regardless of the quality of his writing and debates there is nothing as important as clear, truthful news.
I didn’t know him and heard much of his ‘news’ second or third hand but he was far too young to die. He left a lot of work remaining to be done. He will be missed but I hope someone will take his place.
Until stupidity can be cured – and ignorance is wiped off the face of the earth we will always have the insanity of political correctness to deal with. Its the only real control the left has over their minions – AKA useful idiots. Crap o dear – they even control small r republicans with their banter! The elite leftists can only gain control of our country with smoke and mirrors. Andrew Breitbart was masterful at what he did – blowing away the smoke and deflecting the mirror back on the perps. Each of us can do what he did – even if only in some small way. Many small deeds add up.
Somewhere – someone is gathering up the ways and means of taking Andrew’s place. Maybe several of them – hopefully many dozens of them. Lets give them the support they’ll need to blow away the smoke and deflect the mirror back on those who cannot withstand the sunshine of truth.
It seems like what Breitbart did was hard – in reality it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.
What Breitbart did was to keep it simple. Too much of the discussion is complicated by trying to cover too many issues in a statement. Andrew stayed on-message and kept adding to the evidence and was not swerved off-course by detractors. There are too many trying to include all politically-correctness in their message and it gets lost in the clutter. Then, when detractors attacked him they mostly drifted to their own message, not the context that Andrew so astutely addressed.
He’ll be missed, but hopefully, many on his team have that same focus and will continue to advance his enthusiastic endeavors!
RIP, Andrew, you did make a difference!
Your post made me cry, Zomb.
Is it wrong to mourn someone you never knew in real life?
I have been seriously mourning this man’s death. Maybe I’m a loon, but, he just really made such a mark…
Is it wrong to mourn someone you never knew in real life?
You’re not alone, Delia. I think all of us have felt this at some point. I know I felt that when Solzhenitsyn died. And Robert Heinlein.
Al Stewart recorded a song with the same idea in 1973 on his Past, Present and Future album. The song was called “The Post World War II Blues”.
The lines that address your point are:
I still remember the last time I cried
The day that Buddy Holly died
I never met him so it may seem strange
Some people just affect you that way
“I have been seriously mourning this man’s death. Maybe I’m a loon, but, he just really made such a mark…”
Call me a loon too,Delia. I’m still screaming NOOO!
Cry all you like, your among those who do not weep for overdosed pop star. We grieve for goodness lost.
I, too, am heartsick with grief, feeling as though I had lost a brave son in battle. We’re no kin, no acquaintances, but his image is on my laptop with my family photos. Zombie, your yet-again excellent contribution is so smart bomb incisive. I pray now for the courage to come out and live fiercely and brazenly for the truth, as when Andrew used to take my breath away. And woe to whoever took his breath away, if his passing were anything other than natural causes.
I’ve been choking back tears since I read about his death yesterday. You’re not alone. I’ll get inspired when I’m done mourning.
I never cry over public figures.
I loved how Breitbart would bait the left. He would put out a video and give them a while to develop a n excuse. They would then repeat the excuse as if it were true. Then he would bring out the next video, that showed what liars they were. Priceless!
Don’t know about the WWBD
(I admired the man from a distance – he wasn’t my role model), but I think your suggestion quite sound, Zombie. Glenn Reynolds calls it the Army of Davids. I’ll call it the Army of Breitbarts.
This was only my opinion, but Breitbart beat the libs at their own bullying game, armed with truth, orneriness, and a brass set. Breitbart wasn’t concerned about a Washington dinner invite. The man had little tolerance for the mendacious propaganda. Too many of us do and that needs to stop.
Moreso, and this was the side I most admired about Breitbart, he went on the offensive, didn’t take hostages, nor did he worry about what the bullies from the Left thought. Andrew appeared to measure the effectiveness of message by the shrillness of the Left’s howling – and incredibly accurate measure, I might add.
Being Breitbart. I LIKE IT!
Feed them a little rope and then a little more and then BOOM!
or
Take it right to the crazy loons that the lefts use. Go right to them and convince them of their own ignorance. Use the video and words of the lefts leadership against them.
Today, everyone is Breitbart. RIP
We are all Breitbarts now.
I don’ believe how dirty you’re pledging to become, what distinguished Breitbart was:
1) he was willing to make up lies, and use fraudulently editted videos and use them to destroy completely innocent people in order to attack nebulous political enemies (both in the Sharod case and the ACORN videos he promoted). Yes he promoted real scandals too but in his mind there wasn’t the tiniest difference between the guilty and his totally innocent victims.
2) for him it was all personal – all demonization, never issues
3)his obsession with race was ugly – what kind of man turns a woman who was confessing a sin of former racism and speaking out against that into a racist by editting her video? The answer must be a man who sees her as an enemy for a reason that her beliefs can’t affect. She was an enemy despite talking against anti-white racism, because she was black.
Your ugliness for letting Breitbart claim to be the. victim of racism in the face of this madness, the obviousness of the inversion is the point. A white man beats up a black woman, misrepresents her, gets her fired even though she was – at that moment – speaking out against anti-white racism and all the while he is the one claiming to be the victim of racism – such an inversion can only be loved by an aggrieved bigot.
Or it is loved by people who simply don’t care how innocent their victims are as long as there is some political gain – the very definition of soulless decrepitude, the opposite of loyal civics.
Are these really what you aspire to? I can imagine the America such filthy works could create, and you’re fooling yourself if you think you are creating a better country by promoting this.
I see that you have the leftist narrative down pat… Good for you comrade “totally innocent victim” — What horsepucky!
Read your first sentence. Then I quit. You’re not being effective. Toddle back over to the Daily KaOS where they actually care about what you say.
Boy, you got your leftist created memes, or what Andrew called narrative, down pat.
Maybe you should of segued into a Palin rant on how she could see Russia from her house? It could of made it a more complete leftist screed that way.
Fraudulent editing, making the political personal, and an obsession with race.
That sounds familiar, but Andrew Breitbart isn’t the first thing to come to mind with that description. The beauty of Breitbart is that he didn’t invent any of those. He just picked up the weapons that the left had fashioned and fought back with them.
a. Breitbart released the full video right after the excerpted video. He was hiding nothing.
b. Breitbart was a private citizen. He had no power to get anyone fired, any more than you or I do. If you want to blame someone for getting Shirley Sherrod fired, blame Obama, because that’s who fired her.
c. The cringeworthy glee with which she recounted her treatment of the white farmer, and the ecstatic enthusiasm and applause from the audience upon hearing it, was all we needed to know. The second-half contrition was more perfunctory and the audience’s subdued reaction confirmed what we now know.
d. You may notice that even after the full video was more widely publicized, Obama still didn’t rehire Sherrod. Why? Because the full video contains other damning statements and attitudes not even audible in the excerpt.
e. Subsequent investigations revealed all sorts of hideous facts about the Sherrods, including that they were essentially modern-day slave-owners, who abused poor blacks infinitely worse than Breitbart ever did (i.e. he never did at all).
f. Breitbart blew the lid off the Pigford settlement, which was and remains one of the greatest scams of the last several decades, bilking billions of dollars out of the taxpayer with the collusion of the federal bureaucracy. 90% of the “farmers” who got huge settlement checks had never even set foot on a farm, or seen a cow. All you had to do was apply, and the money was yours for the taking. When not enough people participated in the fraud, the government extended the deadline and hired bureaucrats, including Shirley Sherrod, to get as many more people on board as possible.
g. Who’s accusing who of being racist, with no evidence to back it up? Oh wait, that’s what YOU are doing against everybody who’s eulogizing Andrew Breitbart. By your own definition, you have an ugly obsession with race, and you slander people for political gain.
You go girl! I almost rewrote it again myself. Excellent A Plus essay!
Josh … JOSH?! Hunh–looks as if he’s taken a powder. Not that I’D care to step to you either, Mossy: nicely said!
Good job.
I think the main reason Sherrod didn’t go back to work for the government (IIRC, they made the pretense of offering her another position which no doubt she had agreed in advance to decline) was that all the Pigford stuff was waiting in the wings. Remember, in addition to the 13 million New Communities scarfed up in the settlement, she and her husband were awarded $300,000 apiece for their “pain and suffering.”
I remember how Andrew was so looking forward to the discovery portion of Sherrod’s lawsuit. But then a few weeks ago, his side filed for dismissal (which was denied). I imagine it was getting quite expensive.
Thank you Mossy!
Mossy,
Excellent depiction of the insane leftist “cult” and their unwitting obsession with curtailing the real facts and foundation of common American fraud which has since the 1800′s been kept hidden from the public. I am even more disgusted with the journalists ridden with half-truths and real media is now obsolete….to own the media firms is now the ruling elite 1% of our culture. What a sure way to take over the democratic society we once were. I’ve read fascism texts, the marxist ideals and the German society that only mated with American women once WWII was over….literally transplanting Stalinism in the grid of our neighborhoods, infesting our public policymakers, our law enforcement agencies, and 9/11 tops the cake. I never imagined as a teen in a Boston suburb that I’d wake up one day to the reality that our country had been HIJACKED by Communists….and that’s the TRUTH. For all of you eager to have real truth-driven newsletters and fliers distributed to the people by the people, I’m in….we can’t afford to have just one Andrew, one Napolitano, one Alex Jones….we need millions of Americans who know the truth, either through a university education or through self-taught knowledge, we must all get the truth out to the American people ….before we are completely destroyed as a nation.
You write ‘what kind of man turns a woman who was confessing a sin of former racism and speaking out against that into a racist by editting her video?’
So you never read Breitbarts expose’ and have no idea what the video demonstrated? Do you write book reports from watching the movie or reading the movie reviews?
You write ‘the opposite of loyal civics’
Define ‘loyal civics’. My liberal lexicon decoder ring came up with ‘grateful dead’ and ‘flesh eating bacteria’.
What, you don’t like Saul Alinsky thrown back in your face? Your side started it, we’ll finish with it. The Left is now the target and will be frozen by the Right. Get a sweater.
ps, when did you guys suddenly become so pro-government? Anyone old enough to remember will recall the days when leftists hated the “man”- not get in bed with him (provided he supplies the condom).
Uh, damned right. “Go to hell.” – WWBS You know nothing of what is going on around you.
i get what you are trying to say josh. i respect you for speaking your mind while knowing that so many people will disregard/disrespect you. people love a good story and they dont mind if the storyteller made some indiscretions. that being said, i would hope that people would emulate the passion of breitbart and improve upon it…the last thing we need is 100 photocopies of his work.
Josh Scholar your post has the same hive-mind verbose density of “The Communist Manifesto”
Every word you wrote was a lie, as most readers here will know, since they probably attended to Breitbart’s activities.
These are the same lies the leftover blogs repeat and feed to the receptive MSM. That’s why Breitbart was so effective. He exposed whores like you.
The apex was the rat toothed whore Joan Walsh who spent last spring going on Chris Matthew’s “DeBalled” claiming that Anthony Weiner was the victim of a crime by Breitbart, who had,, she said, hacked Weiner’s account and fabricated fake nudie pics alleged to be Weiner. The silly ho has never apologized.
You are scum like her.
“1) he was willing to make up lies, and use fraudulently editted videos and use them to destroy completely innocent people in order to attack nebulous political enemies (both in the Sharod case and the ACORN videos he promoted).”
On the contrary. Breitbart’s organization did good work in truthfully showing ACORN and the utterly vile Shirley Sherrod for what they are: scam artists and parasites on the body politic, and in Sherrod’s case, a lifelong practioner of racial discrimination, who never should have been allowed within ten miles of a government job.
As a result, both ACORN and Sherrod got booted off the government tit, which they never should have been allowed to suck on in the first place.
If there was any real justice in this country, ACORN and Sherrod would be forced to pay back every cent they scammed from taxpayers over the years, and the government officials who stole our money and gave it to trash like them ought to be rotting in prison, like any other thieves, but shutting down the careers of perpetual welfare recipients will do for starters.
Well said, Zombie. If I hadn’t been a fan of yours before, I would be now.
I see parallels with my own home culture here, the open-source software movement. Zombie is right. Don’t ask for permission; don’t even let the thought that you need to enter your head. Find a problem that needs solving and attack it. Trust in your own power to make a difference.
I’ll miss Breitbart too. I’m a radical libertarian, not a conservative, but the way he hotfooted the smug Gramscians that infest our New Class was a pleasure to watch.
“he hotfooted the smug Gramscians that infest our New Class was a pleasure to watch.”
Masterful! Absolutely masterful turn of the phrase!
HEAR! HEAR!
Making Andrew’s untimely death count for something is a wonderful idea. Too bad it takes a great loss such as this to get people moving. I live in a very small town and am retired. I don’t see the opportunities to do what Breitbart did but I certainly will be looking for them. Armed with a cell phone camera – who knows what can be accomplished? If nothing else I can go out and find an argument with a liberal and wear them down until they see my point of view.
Something – anything!
Just do it!
Yup. Our response to Andrew Breitbart’s untimely death should be “DO A BREITBART!” Why not more than a million?!
He showed us, in these latter days, how to be a David to the Leftard Goliath.
Conspiracy and Andrew Breitbart
American conspiracy theories come in all stripes, from the goofy to the believable, from the bizarre to the likely, from the cruel to the fawning.
Did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone? Was 9/11 an inside job? Did Whitney Houston intentionally kill herself?
The very untimely death of arch-conservative Andrew Breitbart promises to fuel suspicions that foul play was involved. Indeed, another arch-conservative, radio commentator Michael Savage, has already suggested Breitbart was assassinated.
The 43 year old Breitbart, who had said three weeks earlier, ”Wait til they see what happens March first,” died near his Los Angeles home on Thursday, March first. According to the Associated Press and Reuters, the conservative firebrand had a history of heart problems and his personal website, Breitbart.com, reported he died “unexpectedly from natural causes” although no cause has yet been provided.
Indicative of official doubt as to reasons for his sudden death, the LA coroner’s office announced it would conduct an autopsy. Whatever the autopsy findings, it can be certain many will conclude Andrew Breitbart was murdered by one of his many enemies.
Aside from the deaths of Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, no conservative’s passing would have delighted the rabid left more than Breitbart’s and his enemies began to spew their hatred in venomous articles and tweets within hours of the reports.
The taxpayer-subsidized NPR called him a “provocateur” and ”bombastic.” The Huffington Post’s Arianna Huffington was about the only prominent liberal who didn’t rip Breitbart. She couldn’t bring herself to describe his political influence but did praise him as a passionate, exuberant, and fearless friend.
WashingtonExaminer.com published a few of the earliest tweets, beginning with Slate.com’s Matt Yglesias’, “Conventions around dead people are ridiculous. The world outlook is slightly improved with @AndrewBrietbart dead.”
That mean-spirited observation was gracious compared to others including, “Andrew Breitbart now enjoying afternoon tea with Hitler good riddance you hack,” ”Andrew Breitbart died? Is it wrong that I’m happier about that than when they got bin Laden and Saddam?” ”Breitbart dead? More republicans should follow his lead,” “Andrew Breitbart is dead, He was a vile excuse for a human being,” and “Andrew Breitbart haha youre dead and in hell being a gay with hitler.”
I assume those tweets were either a consequence of President Obama’s call for more national civility or a reflection of the fear Obamians are experiencing as they await Breitbart’s tapes of Barack Obama at Harvard.
Breitbart referred to the tapes at his recent 2012 CPAC speech, . . . (Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=15359)
You write ‘Whatever the autopsy findings, it can be certain many will conclude Andrew Breitbart was murdered by one of his many enemies.’
Why are you certain ‘many’ will conclude (project) that his death was murder by ‘one of his many enemies’. How on earth does his death benefit his enemies? His death will not change the fact that fighting media bias and trashing trolls is vastly more engaging than watching Larry O’Donnell report on his penis envy. In fact I may never stop.
Maybe you shouldn’t post links to the articles you have lifted your comments from.
Here’s a tactic: When you have evidence for something, assert it. You may never have “proof”, but proof is merely a sufficiency of evidence. The liberals will NEVER acknowledge that you have sufficient evidence to constitute proof, so don’t wait for it to happen. Put those SOBs on the defensive for a change.
I also must say that assertions WITHOUT evidence are the raison d’etre for Liberals. If they were running against Obama, a conversation might go like this: By the way, did you hear that Obama flunked PS-232. International Political Economy at Columbia? Yep. Got a 47% on the final. My evidence? I saw the transcript. You think I’m lying? Show me HIS transcript.
That’s something I do ALL the time when a leftist starts marveling at how smart Obama is (or how stupid whatever conservative they’re whinging about is). I state that Obama was a “C” student. At best. Including law school. When they lose their sh*t about what I’ve said, I tell them to prove me wrong. Show me his transcripts. This tactic is always good for a laugh.
Well done, zombie.
And very fitting, coming from you.
“Don’t ask permission. Don’t take “No” for an answer, either from your inner pessimist or from anyone else.”
We must now all look to Winston Churchill as well. He said:
“Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
In our fight against the far-left, socialists, progressives, communists, the mainstream media, the biased press, the lackluster network news programs, and far-left cable channels (like MSNBC), let Churchill’s words guide us, comfort us, and give us the courage to face these many enemies that would like nothing better than to dominate or destroy us.
I hope that Andrew Breitbart is smiling down on us right now, seeing that we are picking up the torch where he left it. We will and we will never, ever, give in.
Fight on…
The Left is indeed guided by demons and wicked hearts. But they are also, individually, incredibly weak specimens of humanity. That is why they flood the institutions, so that the institutions will administer their wickedness, in the thoughtless drone of Impenetrable Bureaucracy.
They have no taste for fight in themselves, they have others do it for them. Thats is why they hated Andrew, and why they hate us…Because at some point, they know Patriots like us WILL go to war. Fearlessly. Individually. Ourselves, not our minions. And no, we will not “fight” in the juvenile forms of vandalism they prefer… ….smashing windows and pooping on police cars, in front of their MSM allies to gain further concession and influence of institutions they seek to control…No, we are willing to die in war. We are the veterans, and the current soldiers, not them. We’ve seen it before…Real Wars…With lives lost, in real stands, against tyrannies, past and present.
That’s who we are as Americans. Our DNA goes straight back to that first skirmish line…the commoners, the average…standing, and fighting. Anyone, from any corner of the globe, can come here and be part of that family as a full blood-relative. The genetics of freedom know no race. That is our collective ancestry, while the ancestors of the Left were the Royal Governors. Fat and putrid elitist without a stain of sweat, sending mercenaries to subdue the honest. Today, they are intent on what divides the races, the classes, the “cultures” into squabbling camps, to either do their bidding or be distracted by the noise, while they eat away at our fortunes and freedom.
Andrew called them out on it. He was one of the most dangerous men in America, because he wasn’t AFRAID. And that’s why they hate him, and us, with such passion. The cowards that hurl names, categories, titles and slogans, to box us in with gossip and innuendo….they the fearful. Fearful of their status, their connections, and the all important opinion of their social(ist), social climbing peers.
Andrew was not afraid of them. And the example of his courage, coupled of course with his magnificent business and media skills, brought forth the bravery of so many others who felt lost and overwhelmed.
The Left is indeed guided by demons and wicked hearts.
And Andrew was the wooden stake they feared.
Drive it in!
Both sides have their killers and terrorists, and when they do their thing for the cause, then they are “patriots.” If you hold the view that there are no innocents among the enemy, then blowing them up is a good thing. Breitbart liked to blow things up, but at least he didn’t do it materially as Ayers did. It was not in his job description to build things. So it goes.
Bill Whittle said about Andrew: Give Andy a country worth dying for.
And for his children, as well as our own.
Yo, Zombie,
“Well you know how he is.”!
General words used on me when a libleral commie Democrats starts with the bull crap on AGW, or wind power, or Texas sucks or, the Constitution is old and out of date, or, you right wing nuts lied about John Kerry on your swiftboat blog…
Ya, they know I’m going to start and word fight and if the liberal makes a move to use its fist, that is the bad idea.
Pick fights with them, it feels good every time for me.
from 1966 to now in fact.
oh, and bye the by,
http://www.wattsupwiththat.com
might need some photo work done some time give Anthony an e-mail
Tell him Ralph Hall recomended you.
To this day I remember a comment you made long ago about your Apache blood enabling you to have intruders in your sights before they even knew they’d entered your property. To have the upper hand before your opponent was aware the fight had even yet begun.
That’s the same strategical foresight Breitbart applied to the political field of battle. First he figures out an insurmountable checkmate; then he announces the game has started.
‘Tis invigorating and terrifying, isn’t it? My energies are primarily devoted to shutting down the Legion of Christ cult, and I realized a few years ago:
You’re SUPPOSED to have powerful evil enemies; if you don’t, you’re not working hard enough.
“You’re SUPPOSED to have powerful evil enemies; if you don’t, you’re not working hard enough.”
Well put. I may have to adopt this one.
Count me in.
You’re already in!
If we had just a thousand Breitbarts and a thousand Ringos, the MSM wouldn’t stand a chance.
http://therightbrothers.posterous.com/icon
Thought The Movement could use an avatar/icon.
I’ve been slacking off lately…but, Andrew Breitbart’s death has put the fire back in my belly.
The Occupiers are going to be back, and worse than before, starting this Spring. It’s up to all of us to show America the truth about these radicals and their revolutionary agenda. The Republican candidate, whoever it may be, cannot win unless Americans see the truth about the alternative. We need citizen journalists outside both the Democrat and Republican conventions. If there was ever a moment for our side to get our fight on, this is it.
All-in for Andrew! Mega-Kudos for a life well-lived!! Ferocious fighter, greatly loved!!!!
Like Spartacus, maybe come April 15 we all attend an anti-tax tea party rally wearing a t-shirt that says, “I’m Breitbart!”
Breitbart was a warrior. He smashed political correctness. He was in your face and no appologies journalism. Take it to the enemy and on the offense all the time. He went out to OWS and discussed and debated them. Contrast that to the timidity and passivity of our Republican leadership who are hiding under their desks all the time lest the Marxist Media say mean thing about them.
I’ll miss you Breitbart. Who will take your place? Will God sent us another warrior or many warriors as we despartely need them now. The culture of darkness has taken root and it must be defeated.
Thanks for this amazing post, we had the same thoughts and started this on Thursday evening.

I am so saddened by his passing. What a profound loss to our cause. He was a fearless warrior and patriot. Your tribute to him is very well written. He was a fearless fire brand. A lover of our country , freedom and liberty. He got results too.
I was reading The Man Who Was Thursday last night, and came across a description of Sunday which I also thought encapsulated Breitbart:
“Moderate strength is shown in violence, supreme strength is shown in levity.”
I came across this today: http://iowntheworld.com/blog/?p=122670
“Breitbart Is Here”
I’ll be watching for the product releases since it will be a nice way to keep the libs on edge.
(No, I really do not have any stake or interest in this endeavor. Just thought those here might appreciate it.)
Ev’rywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy
‘Cause summer’s here and the time is right for fighting in the street, boy
But what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock ‘n’ roll band
‘Cause in sleepy London town
There’s just no place for a street fighting man
No
Hey! Think the time is right for a palace revolution
But where I live the game to play is compromise solution
Well, then what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock ‘n’ roll band
‘Cause in sleepy London town
There’s no place for a street fighting man
No
Hey! Said my name is called disturbance
I’ll shout and scream, I’ll kill the king, I’ll rail at all his servants
Well, what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock ‘n’ roll band
‘Cause in sleepy London town
There’s no place for a street fighting man
Surely we can each take some time out of our imagined busy lives and devote just a little to saving our country from further demise. Just turn off the television, sacrifice a football game or two, watch one less mindless movie or so called comedy show, and write a letter to the editor, or begin blog. Many of us are saying there is no hope, all is already lost. Not so, all it takes is to become active, and passionate. If we do not, we have ourselves to blame for what is to come. do not be afraid to stand for our rights, our country, and our future. Our elected officials, until we elect true patriots, cannot be counted on to stand up for the citizens of the USA.
I think we should print up some t-shirts with the “Righteous Indignation” cover – and descend on Hollywood – when some Hollywood event is happening – anyone game?
I don’t see anybody reacting to this with an air of resignation. Everyone is fired up. We may not have his talent, but his will to fight has grown in each of us this week.
I admired Andrew and I paralleled as best I could his efforts starting on February 27, 2009. But I moved towards local issues since I did not have the bully pulpit Andrew developed. In our county I do have that bully pulpit at public meetings and on my street corners; I don’t take a no from anyone.
With the cooperation of two county commissioners of the five on the county board and working with my friends and fellow steering committee members in the Cecil County Patriots TEA Party organization, we have made changes to increase citizen participation, increased transparency and held the other 3 commissioners accountable. Unfortunately the other three commissioners, while Republicans are called the 3 Amigos, operate like Boss Hog and his allies in the Dukes of Hazzard TV program.

Sweet. Thanks for the great post!
Well done and thank you.
Andrew rang true with me because he and I had similar youth experiences — I grew up in Southern California and made it through the liberal education system here during the same time period. I remember several instances where my personal experience differed from whatever was being touted by friends or shoved down my throat by a teacher/professor; and I remember that whenever I tried to share my point of view or experience that if it differed from the narrative I would be publicly shunned. This was the case in high school, undergrad and even through my masters course in a private California university. In fact, I was liberal leaning myself for most of my twenties as a result. Eventually, I was tired of being told I was stupid, racist, ignorant, uncultured, etc simply because I thought through a different point of view. Unlike many of my accusers, I’ve actually spent more than a decade abroad living in the socialist systems liberals idealize, have extensive earth science experience (when looking at eco issues, global warming, etc), have seen first hand how women are treated in the Islamic world. I remember what California was like before we had a law for everything, civil servants who enriched themselves on the taxpayer, and chased away all profitable business. Andrew reaffirmed that there are fellow Old School Californians like me who remember that the greatest days of this state were when we practiced more libertarian values. And he didn’t take shit from no one. God Keep You, Mr. Breitbart.
Salute to Andrew Breitbart !!
I WON’T BACK DOWN !!

Well I won’t back down, no I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
Verse 2
Gonna stand my ground, won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won’t back down
Chorus
Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground and I won’t back down
Verse 3
Well I know what’s right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
But I stand my ground and I won’t back down
Chorus
Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground and I won’t back down
No I won’t back down.

STAND UP….. SPEAK OUT….. TELL the TRUTH…… and DON’T BACK DOWN !!
I thought “Righteous Indignation” was surprisingly well written. I don’t know why I was surprised. But I was. Unless someone else extensively edited or re-wrote it, I think you underestimate his gifts as a writer. Far more than serviceable. I am sure there are greater but he is at least very good.
“Because that’s the secret of Andrew Breitbart’s career: He rose to the top despite not possessing any unique skills.”
Kinda the Kim Kardashian of politics then. Except without the perfect hair and hips.
I had 10 magnetic car decals printed with “I AM ANDREW BREITBART” through an online store. You can, too. Just do it and pass it on
We all need to start by simply not allowing the left to not getting away with spouting BS and not being called on it. A friend of mine posted on Facebook how it was the Republicans who have run up the debt. So I replied in a very fact based post showing that was not true. No name calling just documented facts.
“Because that’s the secret of Andrew Breitbart’s career: He rose to the top despite not possessing any unique skills.”
This is where you are wrong. Andrew Breitbart rose to the top because he possessed a unique set of skills, chief among them his ability to see past leftist play-fakes and to use their own tactics against them. He was quick on his feet in face to face confrontations and was difficult, if not impossible, to rattle. Add that to his disarming and charming personality — he could make friends with anyone, apparently — and an indefatigable work ethic, and I’d say Breitbart was skilled beyond anyone else in his particular field.
Sure, he taught us a lot in his short time in the spotlight, and that will serve us well as we carry the fight against progressive statism, but we are not Andrew Breitbart. No one will every be Andrew Breitbart.
1) Zombie, Weasel Zippers referred to you as “her.” I always thought you were a guy, as you take such lovely shots of women. Hmm, being a woman, and no doubt hot, would explain your access to some dicey situations. And those pics of lovely ladies clearly express admiration for such, so if you just happened to be a lesbian, I’d start a cult worshipping you. I bet most everyone here would join.
2) I hope Breitbart’s bearded visage becomes as common as Occupy’s Guy Fawkes.
“One thing we must learn from Andrew’s life: If Breitbart could do it, anyone could do it.”
Zombie, I realize this is an exhortation from you to all of us. But you were Breitbart before ANDREW was Breitbart. I’ve followed you since the days at LFG when CJ was still sane. I was in awe of you then. My speculation was always that you were someone known in the community, yet you take the risks you do, knowing that trouble would come if you were unmasked. Kudos btw, for not only still having the mask, but the fact that we have to refer to you as he/she/it still!
Thank you for this essay, it’s quite necessary. But take a moment to pat yourself on the back for all the great service you’ve done over the years, and continue to do to this day.
