The Romney campaign just released this very effective ad, that attacks Newt for his boneheaded criticism of the Paul Ryan Medicare plan earlier this year on Meet the Press.
My only question is why did the Romney team include Pat Buchanan in the ad? They couldn’t find any other conservatives who are critical of Newt that are not Israel bashers? Criticism from Pat Buchanan will not resonate with most Republicans.

Just like with the Gringrich immigration comments, Mitt just does not get that when he misrepresents what a fellow republican says, to score cheap political points, he (Romney) loses.
Ask Michelle Bachman how that strategy is working.
Eye on the prize Mitt. Draw distinctions between you and Obama…if your not the best candidate to run against Obama, your not the best candidate.
Don’t burn down the house.
The more the candidates so, say, reveal, the more obvious it becomes they have NO CLUE what the “middles” are thinking.
What planet did you say these guys hailed from?
Oh, so Romney is not being Presidential and above the fray, now? Raise your hand if you did NOT see this coming. Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?
Typical pol.
– lay down like a dog when campaigning against the POTUS.
Newt has already said numerous times that he was responding to a question about social engineering in general. He was not criticizing Paul Ryan directly, and in fact, it’s hard based on that to even consider it a criticism of Ryan.
Newt’s general policy is to provide people with a choice, not to force individuals into a particular solution. Read his plans on his website and you can see for yourself that it is true.
Romney should be careful about attacking Newt. While the Romney campaign might think their attack ads are clever and effective, in a face-to-face meeting with Newt, Romney won’t likely fare so well. Newt can think on his feet. Romney, on the other hand, is more reliant on politically-correct scripted responses.
I can’t wait for an open, one-on-one debate between Obama and Newt. It won’t even be close.
Romney can attack all he wants but none of that makes me want to vote for him. I’d rather he direct his attacks at Obama instead of other Republicans. Somehow, I suspect I’m not the only one who thinks this way.
