This isn’t a gaffe. It’s just malevolent, unchecked, weapons-grade stupidity.
PELOSI: I think that we must — we must — pass the unemployment insurance. I do not think it should be paid for because it is, again, it is something that people, that is paid into and now we should, for many reasons, not pay for it.
Do tell, Madame Pelosi, what are some good reasons not to pay for things?
Note, what she is opposing is that Republican bill that pays for the payroll tax cut extension by approving the XL pipeline, which would create thousands of jobs, along with other reasonable reforms. That bill has the Democrats on the run. Because it would be paid for and create jobs, in an election year. You can’t make this stuff up.

She is OWS, and they are her. “Free” stuff that no one pays for. Who talks like this? She’s the minority leader! Can we not have her arrested for lunacy, impeached for incompetency?
People get the kind of government they deserve. Pelosi is what Dems get because they deserve her.

I don’t think the “pay for” phrase should be allowed to be used. You don’t pay for a tax cut, you should be able to spend only what you receive (maybe it would encourage a good study of the Laffer Curve). Since the government defended the Supreme Court case against against the Social Security ponzi scheme(Helvering v Davis)by insisting that the social security taxes “are not earmarked for any special purpose.” They are “true taxes, their purpose being simply to raise revenue . . . available for the general support of Government” maybe “not paying” along with the pResident’s dire warning about SS checks not going out without a budget deal will start to awaken some “useful idiots”.
